Help Me Think Of A Club To Start

How do I start up a club in high school?

The first step to starting any sort of organization is the identify the possible audience for said organization. In this case you would ask aground and see if there is any interest in astronomy club. This interest does not only have to come from the students - you also need a sponsor to start your club with you. This can be a teacher that really likes you, is really interested in the subject, or both.Next you would figure out how to actually start the club, probably by talking to your dean or club organizer - if you don't know who this is check your school website or ask around. Now all you have to do is follow the steps your informant (hopefully) provided. If they didn't, ask someone who started a club how to [start one].Once you set up your club you can set various protocols, like attendance keeping, leadership positions, or plan events. It would probably be a good idea to have club dues to pay for cool events that might come up (in this case stuff like stargazing or planetarium visits).Once you have sponsors and members, you have officially started a club!

Should I start an LGBT club at my high school?

Yes, definitely! I'd consider:Find out who's interested. Ask around. Get people to talk to their friends. Talk to other LGBT people to get their opinions. The best way to get a club started is to pull together a list of people who you know are interested in seeing it happen.Find a teacher who can be your advisor. Your school may even require this for starting a new club. Consult him or her before starting the club, too. He or she can back you up if there are any administrative issues.Consider private one-on-one sessions where students can talk to a volunteer club member about any issues they have, whether it be with their family, friends, or classmates. Be there for them. Advertise around the school about your club's services.I agree with Anon User about not starting fights. Start it out casual and see how it's received. Don't try to rally people together to fight homophobia. It may be better to start small.Plan what the club will do. Some LGBT clubs have this issue, where they can't think of activities for the club to do. At your meetings you could discuss LGBT issues in the news. Keeping people updated on the news is a great way to get people interested in activism. You could plan movie nights or other non-LGBT related events. Building relationships between these people can really help them out if they ever run into issues.Invite straight people ("allies"). It's great to have a mixed crowd. If your club has any problems with its perception, it'd help to show that there are many people—not just gay people—who support it. Some homophobes may think that everyone is against gay people.Identify any homophobia problems in the school and see how they can be addressed. What are the school's discrimination policies (if any)?Once your club gets more established, you may consider expanding your activism efforts into your town. It's surprising how many people in a small town don't realize how prevalent homosexuality is. Older people may consider it taboo, not understand it, think that there are very few gay people, and assume that gay people are always harassed (which might be true). Impact your town and show that it's okay to be LGBT, and it's okay if their children are LGBT. There are probably many LGBT people who are afraid of coming out because of their close-minded parents. Most importantly, be careful. There are crazy people in this world, so move the club along slowly and carefully. Hopefully, you can help change them. :)

What do you think about starting a comic book club in high school?

It sounds like fun to me. If you want to, you should do it!It’ll take some planning to map out the specifics and launch this club. Do you want the members to read designated comics in their own time, then come together to discuss (alternatively, fan-squee over) layout, art style, story, et cetera? Do you want to have days where you try drawing and presenting your own short comics? Other ideas?Other logistics: you’ll need a time and place. I never started a club, but I think the way to go for this would be to talk to a teacher or counselor about it. A teacher might be willing to preside over the club and lend you their classroom after school on certain days. If they can’t help, they can point you in the right direction. Also, do you know of anyone else who might be interested—friends and acquaintances, perhaps? Does your school have a bulletin board where you can post a notice inviting people to join the comic book club?

What do you think of a Toastmasters club starting each meeting with the pledge?

Wording of the question when I was asked to answer: What do you think of a Toastmasters club starting each meeting with the pledge?I think it is their club and they get to make their own rules. It seems to me that the Kiwanis Club I was briefly a member of started their meetings by reciting the Pledge and singing “God Bless America.”See also “Under God” - Forced Patriotism, the Loyalty Pledge, and the National (Football) Anthem by Barry Hampe on Basic Atheism

I was thinking about starting a cooking club at my highschool. Do you think this a good idea?

Yes!I think that is a very good idea! Although, there a few issues.First, does your school support that? You must gain their permission, and also get funding for supplies (food, appliances, knives, cookware, etc.)Then, you need members. Now it probably is much easier to manage a small group of people (3-6) with little to advanced experience, and supplies would also be easier this way, but not all the time can you have this. If you have many people who want to join, I suggest that you split the club in half or even thirds and teach each group separately. Finally, do you have cooking experience? If this is more of a cooking for fun club, then you can have more experienced people just cook for fun, but if this is a teaching club, then you need a high level of experience. You have to teach the newbies how to cook stuff, and how to do it safely; so they don’t burn the school down.Mainly the only problem you need to bypass is the funding, otherwise you’re all set for a successful club. Good luck

How Do I Start an Anime Club at my High School?

Four??? Start a K-On club instead. One more is bound to join. Just kidding.

I don't think four is enough is enough to start a club or at least not enough when you may need to do what I'm about to say. Unless your school is familiar with animes(which in your condition, I think it's not since you could only find four) or unless the principal is actually fond of animes (wow!)

Anyways. Here it is.
A way to convince the principal is that you should convince your principal that you would have some kind of an anime festival and invite people from around your area/region. This can increase publicity to the school and I'm sure the principal would like students coming. Well.. what's a school without students... Of course, you need to make it successful and you will need to have competition like cosplay, art and singing competition.
Convincing can include making some 'magazine' or 'brochure' (don't know the correct word) and including your school logo in the Thanks section.
You don't need to explain/promise this if the principal just allows you to create the club.

It would be more convincing if you can have your teacher in charge talk for/with you.

There's no need to promise food at all. I'm sure/hope that during that time, they would bring their own food and eat while watching. If you promise food, people may go there so that they can save money.

Just personal opinion. Nothing much.

Edit: Yup, Japanese culture is a good idea as well, but it may be misleading to people who are interested to join 'Japanese Culture' club since some people didn't expect to go there and watch anime the whole time. You need to include the fact that people may join the club. And by having a 'festival' or event, people from your school may join it when they find it interesting.

Important fact. Japan has a vast variety of culture. So there you have it.

Starting a kpop fan club at school?

I think you should start off by advertising your club around the school :) with big posters and cool things like that

then once you've made a good sized club get the members to introduce themselves like who's their biases fave kpop groups, kdramas etc :D

then you can go on from there and watch kdramas ^__^
maybe then you can get books or stuff from websites about Hangul and reading and writing and stuff like that :D and also watching Kdramas can improve your Korean vocab dramatically :3

and with the singing if people don't wanna sing the kpop songs then there can also be Kpop dances you can do too~ =] and maybe decorate the club room with Kpop posters and stuff :>

How do i start a motorcycle club?

It depends on what you want to start. If you are looking for a riding club which has a 1 piece patch, you shouldn't have much of a problem. Put up flyers etc in the bars and shops. Unless you guys are planning on having a big back patch that may offend other clubs, riding clubs usually are ignored by M/Cs. Also, there are a few national riding clubs. You could contact them. If you are thinking of starting an M/C, that is a whole nother story!! I would first start going to some swap meets and rallies to see what other clubs are around. If you find them, you may want to talk to them a bit to get a better feel for the area. Do you have other potential members? Usually it would take at least 5 people to get a charter. Is it possible to hook up with another existing club or even check to see if it is possible to start a new chapter of an existing club? If that is the case, it would be easier to work with the local dominents if they already have a relationship with the other club. If none of that can work for you and you still wish to start your own club, be prepared for a long slow process. Make sure you have done all of your research, make sure your patch, color scheme etc wouldn't offend any of the other clubs in the state. Make sure you have made decisions about what your club will be about and have your by-laws in place. Once you have all that in place, you may want to make sure you and your people get known by the other clubs. (this does not mean putting on patches and hitting the bars!!!) You and your crew will have to establish relations with the other clubs. Attend some of their functions (while still slick backs) and get known. Then after you guys are known, you can request a meeting with the dominent club and let them know your intentions. At this point, make sure you have answers to anything they ask. They may be ok with it and they may not. If they say no, keep riding as a group (without any patches) and perhaps they will eventually let you guys patch. They may also request that you guys wear a support patch. Think hard about this before you guys decide whether or not. Each area is bit different and the dominents in each area have their own methods and reason for doing things. Make sure you understand local protocol when dealing with other clubs. The most important thing you can do is show respect. Ignorance can be overlooked, lack of respect will not.

I am thinking about starting a game design club but, I think I will be looked at as a nerd. What should I do?

You know how people always say its different after high school, college, whatever - it isn’t. It’s all bullshit. Some people will always try to drag you down - their insecurities forcing them to attack anything different, unique or just cool. Some people are assholes. Some are just jerks. Some are too scared to act on their dreams. All sorts of people are out there who will slow you down if you let them. The key is not letting them. You do you. You want to make games - welcome to the family! You are worried about chasing your dreams because someone else is going to give you shit for it? Fuck them. You do you. Yeah, there might be some short term pain. Yeah you might get teased. They might even talk shit about you when you aren’t around. Oh well, while they are wasting energy on that, you are following your dreams and making yourself a better person.Making games is awesome. And incredibly hard. I wish I had this massive amount of support when I started making games. This is the golden age for making your own stuff. Now is the PERFECT time to do your own thing. And if you need some help - reach out. Most game devs will find time to help mentor. Feel free to PM me if you get stuck.
