Help Me Where Is My Period

Ahh help! My period cramps are KILLING me!?

I've interviewed hundreds of woman about their cramps. Here are their preferred methods.

Medication:

Ibuprofen, such as Advil and Motrin, Tylenol, Midol, Excedrin Menstrual Formula, Aleve, Pamprin, Aspirin. Surprisingly, to me anyway, was that Midol and Pamprin were not that good.

Home Remedies:

Heat: Heating pad, hot bath, hot water bottle, hot shower, hot towels, laptop, some even had their pets lay on their stomach.

Food/drinks: Hot tea (preferably herbals like chamomile, peppermint, etc.), but any tea can help. Coffee, hot chocolate. Also eating foods high in potassium like bananas and staying away from heavy, greasy, salty foods during their period. These remedies are mostly immediate but temporary relief.

Pressure: Applying any type of pressure to your stomach, such as relaxing it and pressing on it as deep as possible, massaging it (if you can get someone else to do it it works better), putting weights such as books and things on it. They also like laying on their stomach on something like a small pillow, rolled blanket or towel, a ball, even their own hands. Anything to put some pressure on it seems to make the cramping less.

Exercise: MILD is the key word here. A few did sit up and leg lifts, even jogging (ugh) but most was like talking a walk, stretching, Yoga, even doing belly rolls seemed to alleviate the cramping for them.

Ointment/balms: Like Tiger Balm, Icy Hot, Ben Gay, etc. Just be sure if you try these test them on a small area of skin before rubbing into your stomach in case you have an allergic type reaction.

Ice: Only girls with SEVERE cramps used this. They said it was all that would help their cramps! If you have an ice bag/pack that's perfect, if not you can put ice cubes in a washcloth then on your stomach. You can also use what most girls used, a bag of frozen vegetables such as peas of corn.

Of course there's always birth control pills. They were the most successful method of stopping cramps but I realize they are not for everyone, but I felt I had to mention it.

I'm really sorry your cramps are so bad and I hope you find something here to help with them. Hope you feel better soon. Good luck! :)

Will tums help with my period?

Yes. Tums help right away! They won't last as long as Advil though. But I still use Tums.

What helps period cramps go away faster?

For me, personally, it hasn't been medication, it's been water. Since I first got my period when I was 10, I've always had horrible horrible cramps. Like, In bed for the first two days of every period because I can't even stand up because of the pain. Spending hours daily crying from my cramps. And when I had to be put on hormone meds because of some health problems, my Cramps just got worse. But because of my hormone meds, it's given me really dry mouth so I started drinking a lot of water, like A LOT of water. And about a year ago, I had been drinking almost 100 oz of water a day. One month last year, a few days before my period was supposed to start, I was drinking even more water than that. When I got my period, I didn't have any cramps. Usually the first two days are the worst and I spend all day In bed for cramps. But for the first time since In 11 years, I hadn't had any cramps at all the whole duration of my period. It was crazy. So I drank that much water the following month before and during my period, and I had no cramps again. So I decided to test my theory, and I didn't drink that much water the following month and I had really bad cramps again. Like In bed and couldn't move, type of cramps. So now I drink like a ton of water before I start my period. More water than I normally drink during the day. And when I stay on top of drinking water, I get very little to no cramps. When I don't drink as much water, I get cramps.I barely have to take midol anymore when I'm on my period. I just drink water non stop during the day.

How can a guy help his best friend (girl) when she is on her period?

Holla buddy,Never had i ever came across a friend who'd do such thing for me but I'd definitely like to do some of the followings when i am going through my monthly cramps. Periods are nature's call and a girl needs utmost care and love at this period of time.Firstly, know that she's going through a lot of pain. knowing that you can't do anything about it listen to her carefully but don't question her about you never heard of pain in menstrual cycle. In this time of period, girls usually get mood swings. Girls love it when a boy cares them gently.Sudden cravings for food is quite normal. So if you get midnight calls to get her a chocolate ice-cream, you better do something about it.Surprise plans for movies with food will always be a mood changer for a girl. But note that sitting in the same position might get irritating for her.Food and sleep are always a girl's first love. Ice-cream, chocolates pizza's will always be a thumbs up.Besides all these, Handling her with care and utmost love is the key.^.^In case, this is my first answer to you,Hello there,It's Nidhi ware.I hope i helped. ^_^

Does hot chocolate help period cramps?

Hi, I understand your issues with your mom. I have the same, lol. But basically anything that is real warm or soothing, will help with your cramps. If you eat more healthier while you are on your period, it will prevent cramps and even make your flow lighter. Eat lots of good fruits (not citrus ones like oranges or kiwi, etc), more like apples, melons, and fresh peaches. Also eating your recommended vegetables and/or taking multi vitamins for young girls each day will help with the cramps. Or you can just use a hot water bottle or a heating pad. Trust me, if you do all this while on your period, you will feel better about your body and you will have much lighter periods with almost 0 cramps!

Why do orgasms induce your period?

It's because during orgasm a hormone called oxytocin is released which causes uterus contractions (it's basically the same sort of hormone that is released when you're giving birth), relaxation and increased blood flow from arousal also helps, as too does semen which softens the cervix.

Edit to clarify - There are lots of things that induce periods, some of these things are often also used in terminating pregnancy and inducing birth. If you wanted to purposfully induce your period you'd have to use specific emmenagogues, progesterone blockers, uterine contractors or oestrogenics, and you'd have to have at least two weeks of uterus lining build-up - sex would only help things along, but if you're due your period sex will bring it on a little earlier.
