Help Mothers Pc Will Not Start Up

What happens if you start up a PC without a CPU cooler?

It would depend upon the heat produced by the CPU and the motherboard.Early models of desktop computers had neither a heat sink nor a CPU fan; simply because they did not produce enough heat to be a problem. And, the CPUs in smart phones today do not have a CPU fan.Modern desktop computers today require much more energy and produce much more heat than the early models. A good motherboard will have a thermal sensor for the CPU that will shut down the computer in the event the CPU overheats. Otherwise, the CPU will fail and shut down the computer. In a worst case scenario the CPU could catch fire.I have not seen a CPU burn but I did have a graphics card that had a chip that exploded, caught fire, and burned. On a tangent, in the early days of vacuum tube televisions, the television was the cause of many house fires. It was all too common for a television to catch fire — with the selenium rectifier a main culprit. The selenium rectifiers were replaced with silicon rectifiers and then vacuum tubes (a 5U4 tube, if I recall correctly) — but televisions would still catch fire. Televisions had large, heavy transformers that would produce several different voltages. A separate flyback transformer would produced the high voltage needed for the CRT. They were not energy efficient — at all!

Would I lose my data if I change RAM, motherboard and CPU on my PC?

Your data is stored on your hard drives. Your data is not stored on your Ram, motherboard, or within your CPU.Would I lose my data if I change RAM, motherboard and CPU on my PC?Again. Your data is stored on your hard drives. This is because your hard drives are the data storage devices within your computer.Changing the Ram, motherboard, and CPU will not alter the data that is stored on your hard drives. YOU deciding to reinstall your operating systems without backing anything up, because you bought new hardware… THAT would cause you to lose your data. Can you see the difference?Changing Ram, Motherboard and CPU will not affect your data. Erasing your hard drives, damaging your hard drives, reinstalling your operating systems on top of your data… THOSE things would likely cause you to lose your data.I have to ask… are you *sure* you are the best qualified individual to do this? I mean… this is low level stuff here. Knowing that your data is on your hard drives…. it strikes me that this is something you should already know. Like… something you should know before attempting to start swapping out parts. Will you change your hardware, connect up your existing hard drives, and have trouble booting to your installed operating systems? Probably. That won’t erase your data though. Your data would still be right where you left it…. you just wouldn’t be able to boot to your OS because the new hardware was too different from the last hardware, and the installed drivers in the OS on the drive would be incompatible with the new hardware. Again though… this might cause a BSOD, but it wouldn’t erase your data. You’d have to do that yourself by reinstalling your OS without backing up your important stuff.

Help!!!!! My computer has a virus and I'm scared about my mom's credit card information!?

That Windows Vista Security thing IS THE VIRUS! Trust me. You should restart your PC in Safemode, usually by tapping F8 when you start the computer, and try to run your antivirus program.

Try Malwarebytes free addition.

SuperAntispyware

And you can type in Google "Download ComboFix" and run that.

The Vista Security Virus has probably attached to your real antivirus software programs and will not let you open them. That's why you have to try it in safemode. If that doesn't work, you will have to get someone to look at it for you.

Do NOT buy the program that says you have viruses. That's what it wants you to do, and then it will steal the credit card information that you put in there to buy the program.

It's a common known virus. It integrates to look like it's part of Vista Security!

My desktop computer needs HELP!!!?

You may have to clear the BIOS. On the inside off the computer case there should be a jumper you can switch to "clear BIOS" it should tell you in the manual. If you can't find a jumper then there is a silver battery on the motherboard about the size of a quarter you can remove this for 30 seconds. then put back in. before you touch the mother board make sure the computer and monitor is unplugged and touch the metal chassis to discharge any static from your body.

What happens if I boot my computer without the CMOS battery?

Your settings will not be lost INSTANTLY. You might have to wait a while before the time/date and BIOS passwords reset. I did have to take a break off of my motherboard to reset BIOS settings once as it would not reset. That was a server motherboard though.

Internet not working for some computers after snow storm?
