Sick dog digging hole in dirt?
I have a 10 year old Miniature Schnauzer who has Liver Cancer, and today she's been acting really weird. She had diaherrea so we let her go outside as she pleased so she could go. However, she was gone for a while so we went to check on her, and she was digging a hole in the ground, which she never does. Now she's just sitting outside in the grass and she won't come in. This is very abnormal behavior for her, does anyone have ideas of what she's trying to do and what we should do? Thank you!

Help! My old dog ran in streets and after my brother went to get him he said he ate some animal feces. When my dog came back he started throwing up and I assumed he was sick from the feces. He hasn't been eating and since we left him outside with some water he is now digging holes in the back yard and just sitting in them... what is going on? Please help, any answers are appreciated!

some good info above to help you understand. here are some suggestions (things i've tried that worked and things a behaviorist gave me) to try to control it. 1)use a dog gate or kennel system to section off appropriate area for your dogs (where you don't care about the grass so much). 2) put something on perimeter to discourage digging in those spots (cayenne! never thought of that-I used to bury their poop in the perimeter holes, there is also some non-toxic pet spray at pet stores) 3)if the dogs dig deep, bury chicken wire on perimeter or under dirt layer where you want them to stop 4)buy a sandbox, fill it with sand and bury favorite toys, pig ears, etc to encourage digging in that area good luck!
Would clipping a dog's nails prevent him from digging big holes?
Depends on the dog, I have a young retriever/collie mix who could a really big hole with no nails... Digging is often a sign of boredom in dogs, so make sure you are giving lots of runs/long walk a day and this may help the problem. Best wishes
What does it mean when guinea pigs dig holes in their bedding?
im very sorry she is sick . but the digging in her bedding thing is FINE alot of them do that ( mine did ) if she doesnt have a house then that could be a reasonn they like to be hidden allott of the time they r very skittishsh she also could just be playing or maybe she is cold dough full thou but theyin joynjoy doing this if u r worried about it still that is fine u can ask ur wet y she is doing this and im sure he wont charge for a simple question i hope i helped good luck !!!
