Help My Elevator Isn

What is it like to be stuck in an elevator?

I have been stuck in an elevator early last year.  After a tiring day of work I went to my room, left my bag and decided to go the restaurant at the ground floor for dinner. I don’t know why I decided to take the elevator, i could have easily used the stairs as I had to go only 2 floors down in the 15 storey hotel. When I entered the elevator the door acted like it didn’t want to close. I was trying to close it by pressing the close button multiple times; at the same time a gentleman entered the elevator talking on his mobile phone. When the door was about to close he left the elevator and took the stairs as his mobile signal was disturbed. Elevator started to move. The moment I realised it’s a mirrored elevator all those scary pranks from just for laugh gags flashed. I have always hated mirrored elevators. Within seconds, the elevator grounded to a stop and the power went off. I was alone, the lights were off and it’s a MIRRORED elevator! I stood for a moment in stunned silence. All I could think was ‘no way, elevators don’t get stuck in real life!’ I totally regretted watching too many movies with broken elevators.  I was terrified; with the help of the light from my mobile screen I pressed the open button; nothing happened. I pressed all the buttons, still nothing. I pressed the emergency alarm and heard nothing. After almost 10 minutes of yelling and screaming, I settled at a corner of the elevator sobbing and hoping there is no little devil inside.  After lot of tears and screaming, it finally opened; I rushed back to my room taking the stairs still sobbing until a colleague of mine found me. The cause of the elevator malfunction has not determined. Now I have serious phobia for elevators :( Thanks for asking Peniel Jacobson

Help improve my elevator pitch - Assignment?

You are right! I agree with your observations about your Elevator Pitch. Congratulations on looking for a better way. You are closer than you think to a powerful pitch that you'll be eager to use.

Your main challenge isn't that you're talking about yourself too much. It's that you're talking about yourself in the wrong way.

You're generalizing about your experience (it's the most common Elevator Pitch trap).

The more you generalize.

The more you sound like everyone else.

That's why the more you work on it the less it sounds like you.

Oops.

Instead, give details.

For example, everyone claims to understand the human element of business. So that doesn't set you apart. So how have you worked with an employee to make them more successful? What processes have you put in place to make the workplace more productive?

The more details you give, the better.

There's a great before and after example (Dan's Pitch) referenced below about transitioning from generalizations to specifics. See which one you think gives you a better sense of Dan and his capabilities.

Back to your pitch. You talk about wanting to help your company. What is the biggest way you have helped a previous company? What achievement are you most proud of?

Everyone wants to make a difference at their company. The particular ways you have made a difference at companies you have worked for will instantly set you apart from everyone else.

Check the sources below for dozens of Elevator Pitch examples across a variety of industries that show how to use details instead of generalities.

Good luck!

Please Help with Physics Elevator Problems?

It seems like you should have a higher number. If not, then your elevator's acceleration is really low.
Remember that 1 pound force = 4.45N
W = m*g - When the elevator is moving, there is static equilibrium, and W = 115lbs. 115 pounds force is equivalent to 511.2N, which translates to a mass of 52.16kg.

When the elevator kicks into motion, there is an extra 4 pounds of force acting (as measured by the scale), which translates to 17.78N. This extra force causes an acceleration, but dynamic equilibrium is still satisfied: That is to say

F-W = m*elevatorAcceleration
F - W = 4lbs = 17.78N, as determined before

17.78 N = m*elevatorAcceleration
17.78 = 52.16*a
a = 0.34 m/s^2

That is the acceleration of your body, which is at nearly the exact same acceleration as the elevator. The elevator's acceleration may be slightly higher because when you start going up on an elevator, your body undergoes some compression (in bones and muscular tension), and therefore, the true force isn't reflected in the scale's measurement.

You are stuck in an elevator with 10 people for 24 hours and your phone is on 1% battery. What do you do to entertain yourself?

I would almost definitely pass out within 15–20 minutes. I am rather claustrophobic and the longer I stay in such an enclosed space, the less likely I am to survive it. Even if my phone had infinite battery life, I doubt I’d really survive it.If I know that an elevator doesn’t have round-the-clock support, I don’t use it. I’m fit enough to climb 20–30 floors if required and feel more or less ok. So I would use that.In fact, the elevator at my apartment is pretty dodgy so any time our guard isn’t on duty or is asleep, I just walk up the 4 floors to my place, and I almost always walk down the four floors at any time of the day (mostly because I don’t know if the guard is on hand or not).So I would not survive the 24 hours in an elevator. Hopefully I’d just pass out and remain passed out till someone had extricated us from that scenario. If that doesn’t happen, it would dissuade me from ever taking an elevator again.Of course, I’d attempt to rationalise the situation, find a way out, strike up a conversation etc. But I know, from past experiences, that this won’t even last 20 minutes.It doesn’t help that there are 10 people, either. If there were one or two I’d still feel like I have some space to breathe. But with 10 people, I’d probably collapse within the half hour after sweating profusely and struggling to breathe.

Can anyone please help me with this elevator physics related question?

F = m * a.

On a fixed floor, the acceleration would be due to gravity only, so you can calculate the mass of the man on the scale.

m = 700N / (9.8m/s^2)
m = 71.4 kg

But in the elevator, the floor isn't fixed, it's accelerating. So the acceleration of the elevator is added to gravity. Unfortunately, it's not obvious to me from your problem description which direction the elevator is going. If it's accelerating up the two would add, if down you would subtract.

up: a = 9.8 + 1.8 m/s^2
down a = 9.8 - 1.8 m/s^s

Assume up:
a = 11.6 m/s^2
F = m * a
F = 71.4kg * 11.6 m/s^2
F = 828 N

Is it rude to not help someone carrying a lot of stuff out of the elevator and just stand there?

If you are able-bodied and able to help the person and don’t is downright rude.I don’t know if this was asked from the viewpoint of the overloaded person or the empty-handed one, but assuming the OP is the overloaded one, please remember that everyone who looks able-bodied isn’t. Perhaps the empty-handed person is like me. I am not medically permitted to carry/lift more than 10 pounds. My purse is 7 pounds, so I doubt I’d offer to help unless it was clearly something light.

Physics: Elevator going up problem. I need help and guidance on how to get started or even attempt this problem.?

A 100kg man is concerned about his weight decides to weigh himself in an elevator. He stands on a bathroom scale that is initially moving upward at 3m/s but stops after traveling 2m.
*This question isn't asking for anything specific. I just need to find out everything I possibly can with the information I'm given.

I have made a System Schema and a force diagram, but I am not sure what to do next.

How do I write an effective elevator pitch? What should an elevator pitch look like on paper?

Investor Pitch -The traditional “elevator pitch” idea is based around the question, “What would you say if you found yourself alone on an elevator with a wealthy investor?”  Use this template as a starting point.Grab - Venture capitalists and angel investors are pitched every day.  Your grab must be unique and compelling enough to capture their attention and imagination.Problem - As with any pitch your audience needs to feel the problem, feel the pain.Unique Solution - Investors look to invest in businesses that can be protected.  If you solution can easily be copied, that is a risk many investors are unwilling to take, so explain what makes your company special.Traction - Traction trumps all else when it comes to investors.  You will have VCs jumping in line to invest in businesses with great traction.  Take Groupon for example, investors poured 100s of millions of dollars into the company despite the fact that there are literally 100’s of copycat companies.Stage - What stage are you at?  Do you need funding?  How much?  Or have you already received investment?Next Step - Ask for a business card, or ask for a chance to meet with the investor individually.There are 6 other elevator pitch templates and examples for other situations like bankers, networking events, potential customer pitches and more in my ebook Elevator Pitch Toolkit on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Elevator-P...

What are good ways to master your elevator pitch?

An elevator pitch is  – what you describe about your venture in a 1 – 2 minute window. The pitch could  be to a potential investor, or even a potential client/ partner/ employee.The purpose of an elevator pitch to an investor, is to excite him or her about THE BUSINESS CASE OF YOUR CONCEPT. The business case is about ‘Who will pay how much for what and to whom’.An elevator pitch is usually a short conversation, which starts with a one-line introduction to your venture. This one-line description is something that should excite the investor to know more.Once the investor is excited with a one-line descriptor, the follow-up answer should cover a brief overview of the concept, your aspirations, and most importantly, what you expect from the person e.g. possibly a meeting to present your concept.Here’s an example of an ‘elevator pitch conversation – Entrepreneur: “Hi, I am the co-founder of Tune Patrol, an online platform for independent musicians to upload, share and sell their music. We are in beta stage. The results look very good. We are now seeking a USD 100,000 in funding to go to a million users mark. We are currently funded through friends and family, including my ex-boss who invested USD 5,000 in my venture”Investor: Looks good. Tell me more.Entrepreneur: Thanks. My name is Saurabh. We launched the platform a month ago. I have two co-founders, one of whom is a techie, the other a music promotion professional. I have 3 years of experience as a marketing professional. The ex-CEO of one of the largest music channels in India is an advisor to us. We have what we think is a good business plan, and a strong business case. Apart from funding we need mentoring and insights to help us convert our dream into a very large company.Investor: Good. How can I help?Entrepreneur: Could we come over and meet you someday? We have a presentation and would really appreciate your advice, and of course seek your investment.Investor: Sure we could meet. Here’s my card. Drop me a mail with a presentation and the link to your platform. I will put you on to someone from our office to set up a meeting. All the best.------------Here's another link that you might find useful Pitching to investors
