Help My Eyes Are Gone

HELP! MY EYE CONTACTS ARE GONE!?

Sounds like you might you might be the victim of contact theft; it can happen to anyone, anywhere at any time!

Seriously, do you have a brother or sister that is playing a joke or maybe even borrowed them! Are you absolutely positive they are not still in your eyes? When you say "the solution is gone", do you mean the bottle dissappeared or just the solution that was in the case? If it was just the solution that was in the case, maybe the lid popped open at night and everything dried out? Not sure if this applies to your situation or not, but some of types of contacts shrivel up when they dry out and maybe fell down into the bottom part of the case?

What's wrong with my eyes? Help!?

I doubt that you have an iritis at this time. Iritis is an inflammation of the iris - the colored portion of the eye which creates the pupil. If the iris is inflamed, you would have considerable pain, especially when your pupil dilates and constricts to varying amounts of light. The redness around your "iris" is actually around the cornea, most likely within the clear layer covering the eye called the conjunctiva. This is known as conjunctivitis. Other potential causes are episcleritis (pain usually isn't associated with this) or scleritis (pain is present and usually severe; usually associated with a systemic condition such a rheumatoid arthritis or other arthropathies). My money is on conjunctivitis seeing that this occurs after you wear your lenses for a while.

Your cold-like symptoms - are these seasonal allergies? Allergies affect more than just the sinuses.

Also, you could be allergic to the contact lens solution. What type of solution are your using? What type of contact lenses do you use (brand)? What eyedrops are you using? When you got the ok to wear contacts again this summer, did you open a new pair of lenses or did you use old ones? How quickly after wearing lenses do your eyes get red? Do you sleep in your lenses? Do you clean them daily (and well)?

I know that's a lot of questions, but if you can answer these questions, that would be helpful and might point to the source of your problem.

Update: It's possible that you're having an allergic reaction to the solution. Opti Free uses a specific preservative called polyquaternium-1 ("polyquad") which can cause a solution sensitivity reaction in some patients (estimates are for reaction to solution preservatives are about 10%). Try switching to a peroxide-based cleaner - it's called Clear Care. Note one thing when using Clear Care: the solution must be used with the special case that comes in the box. The peroxide neutralizes in 6 hours (you'll see it bubble at first), so DO NOT put the lens in your eye until it neutralizes. Clear Care is much, much less antigenic than other solutions and kills microbes very well. It is the solution of choice in my book. Just follow the directions on the box. You should be able to find it wherever you buy your Opti Free. I hope this helps.

Just to get an idea about Clear Care, here's the product's webpage: http://www.clearcaresolution.com/ .

My goldfishes eyes are gone!!?

I am sorry this happened to your bubble-eye. Bubbles are best kept in breed-specific tanks, ie only with other bubble-eyes. They are extraordinarily delicate.

I don't think a decoration took out his eyes, I think the other fish did it. Goldfish eyes are not actually held in place by much: four small tendons and the optic nerve is all that keeps them where they are, and they are VERY easy to pluck out.

If you have commons or a ryukin in the tank, they are known to pluck out eyes.

I don't think I have to tell you that your tank is overstocked with 4 golds in 20g.

At this point I would isolate the bubble-eye in a different tank. Either get a cheap 10 gallon from walmart or get a rubbermaid tub to fill with water and keep him in. I would also salt the tank to a 0.1% salt solution, which is 1tsp per gallon of salt. Salt at this concentration is a healing tonic for golds. The salt can be regular rock salt, table salt, kosher salt or pickling salt, as long as it does NOT contain 'yellow prussiate of soda' (an anticaking agent which generates hydrogen cyanide).

Please separate him from the other goldfish. It makes me heartsick to think of it. I can only imagine how bad you must feel.

If you're in Ontario by ANY chance in the world, let me know. I would love to rescue the poor thing. Otherwise, if you can't get him in a separate hospital tank, please find an aquarium club near you (google your location + aquarium club, aquarium society) and maybe someone will be able to take him in. If he's still with you now, he's obviously a fighter and he should get the best chance at a good life.

If you have ANY questions and you're serious about keeping him alive, please PLEASE post on the sick goldfish forum here:

The mods are, among other things, vet techs and they will know how to help you. Nobody will blame you for what happened because you didn't know this could happen and everybody will empathize with both you and the fish.

Good luck.

HELP! my eye has gone red and I have to go somewhere in 30mins! help what do I do???

It would be helpful to figure out why your eye is red. If it's having an allergic reaction to some makeup you applied, I would suggest washing your face and using product that doesn't irritate you. If you had something fly into your eye, you should rinse your eye out with water.

As far as the redness, your best bet minus an allergic reaction is, as everyone else has said, eye drops.

My eyes have gone blurry all of a sudden?

It is very hard to tell you what is wrong, but I can tell you that anytime there is a change in your vision it needs to be checked out. Could it be because of those skin and nails drops? Hard to say, but if that is the reason then if you stop using the drops your eyes should go back to normal. So I would try not using those drops and see if that was the cause. If your vision is still blurred than the drops were not the reason. Someone mentioned diabetes and that too could be the cause of your rather quick vision change. I don't think it is due to eye strain or tired eyes.
I suggest that you stop at some optical shops and tell them your financial situation. You maybe surprised that they might be able to help you or at least direct you to where you can get your eyes examined free or at a very reduced rate. Personally I have several optical shops that I send people to that don't have insurance that will do an eye exam for $35.00 which is more than half what the normal rate is. They even provide the prescription in writing so I can order them glasses on line knowing that they are much cheaper then they can offer them glasses for.
Your eyes are still a medical issue and like any other type of doctor they first care that they improve your health and or eyesight.
In short, stop the drops, if your vision returns to normal great, but if your still not seeing as you should then ask for help. there is no shame in saying that you can't afford the normal prices. You are far from being the only one in that position these days.

Help! my dogs gone blind!?!?!?

My cat's blind and if your dog is truly blind, it will adapt just fine. Animals aren't like people. They don't feel sorry for themselves. They use their other senses to adapt to the condition and they get around just fine. You'll need to do a little adjusting yourself to make things easier for your dog is all.

If you throw things on the floor, you need to stop doing that. You need to keep the floor open and clear at all times. You need to keep his food and water in the same place and as easy to get to as you can. You need to try not to move any furniture or anything else around and, like I said, just keep the floor as open and clear as you possibly can for him but they do adapt and use their sense of smell and hearing and other senses and learn to adapt and get around just fine. You'll learn how you can help him as you're working with him through this and you'll both be fine. Good luck to you!!
