You might want to try a hard reset. Hold down your lock botton and the home bottom until you see the apple symbol. (About 10 seconds or so....) also I would check to be sure you have all your updates. Interesting problem, have you dropped it? If the hard reset doesn't work, i would bring it to the nearest apple store. they may be able to fix it or get you a new one depending on whether or not the problem is because of the device or the user.

ermmm i have a 5th gen too (8gb) soooo idk if this will work but i guess try it : ) 1)try pausing the song then putting them in 2)reset ur ipod (turn it off/let the battery drain and slide the hold button on/off once or twice then hold in the center button & the menu button at the same time, an apple logo will appear and don't worry all of your songs/stuff won't be affected) Then try again 3)If all else fails use the apple express lane (costs $) or get your ipod repaired (costs $ unless the 1 year warranty is still good) GOOD LUCK #chlowee<3
IPod nano 7th gen volume button stuck?
The up volume button on my iPod nano got stuck today out of nowhere. It's hard to press and when it presses it does absolutely nothing. I already tried using alcohol to try and clean it out and trying to resync it with iTunes but nothing is working. I don't want to risk taking it apart and I don't have the funds to get a new iPod. I bought my iPod off of Ebay so I can't take it to Apple. Any solutions?

You can actually put a drop of oil in it. Nothing too strong. Baby oil works great. Rub in on the edges and make sure its just a DROP or it may damage the button permanently.
