A car is reduced from $2499 to $1999. What is the percentage discount?

The example was a dress was $50 but was reduced to $40, so the difference is $10... 10 over 50x100 = 20%..? but i'm confused about the bigger numbers, so is it 500 over 2499x100 = 20% ?? or something else?

Can U please help me with this Profit, Loss and Discount question?!?

Bought: 100 hens for Rs 8000 --> Rs80 a piece

Sold: 20 at a gain of 5% --> Rs80*(1.05) = Rs84 each

20*84 = 1680

To get 20% gain on Rs 8000, one needs 8000*(1.2) = Rs 9600 total

9600 - 1680 = 7920

So the remaining 80 hens must be sold for 7920 total

7920/80 = Rs 99 each

Since they cost 80 each to buy and need to sell for 99 each given the above conditions, the % gain they must sell at is:

99/80 - 1 = 0.2375 = 23.75%

Math help! Algebra... % raise and discounts?

Say last year's salary = 100%.
That makes this year's salary = 103%

Divide 55,620 by 103 and multiply with 100, so
55,620 / 103 = 540
540 * 100 = $54,000

$78 = 75% of the original price
original price = 100%

Divide 78 by 75 and multiply with 100, so
78 / 75 = 1.04
1.04 * 100 = $104

I hope it makes sense. just take your time, do it step by step and then you'll get there.

Good luck!

Cost advantages will definitely follow due to economies of scale covering up the discounts given.
