Help Quick If You Go In A Tattoo Shop With A Design

Can you take USB drive to tattoo studio with the designs?

Thanks for the input guys.. Oh, and i'd be more inclined to burn the 'Holy Temple' to the ground - along with the lunatics whom recide within. It's actually a much smaller percentage of people who regret tattoos, approximately 1 in 6 -- and 80% of those 1 in 6 regret it because they had a lover's name etched into their skin. Myself - on the other hand - am honored to carry a meaningful piece of art around, as a part of me. As opposed to adhering to some meaningless book and allowing a few BS words to ruin my life...

Tattoos are a stigma of the body? How about religion, temples and churches are a stigma of society?

..and for the record, god didn't give my this body, my parents gave it to me through miltiple sessions of vigorous séx and several hours of painful contractions...

Christ..... =/

Can u buy tattoo ink in a regular tattoo shop ?

Tattoo artists buy ink from suppliers, and i dont have any suppliers anywhere near, the shipment lasts for weeks and weeks, so i was wondering can u just go to the tattoo shop and buy ink ?

Do all tattoo shops use stencils?

for the most part tattoo artists still use stencils, but there is a movement away from it and towards freehand and a more artistic side if tattooing. only about half of my 30 tattoos were done with stencils. the rest were totally freehand. even when done freehand the artist usually draws the tattoo on with a marker so they have a guide. my 2 biggest tattoos were totally freehand no marker or anything and they have won a combined 14 first place trophies at 13 tattoo competitions. you gotta really trust your artist though. i have been going to the same 2 people at the same shop for 5 years.

When getting a tattoo, do you need to come up with the whole design or does the tattoo artist contribute a lot?

It depends. From what I've experienced there are four ways:Existing - Artist has made a design in the past. You point it with your finger, you get it inked. One important side note: some artists follow the one design = one person rule, but others are completely ok with reusing them indefinitely.Similar - You browse some portfolio, you like a design and contact the artist: "hi, I want something like this [image]". Then you can either get an exact design or a similar one (see #1 above).Custom - You have an idea and maybe some visual references to explain it more easily to another human being. You find some artist you like (this person should preferably have some experience with the style/subject) and ask him/her to create a custom design for you.Own - You have an idea and make a nice image out of it (or ask someone to do it for you). You show it to the artist and he/she freehand-copy or tracing-paper-copy it on you.Just make sure that your chosen artist loves doing it by your chosen way of getting a tattoo. I met some that are "ok, no problem, let's do it!" with #4, but then doesn't really try to do their best, because not mine = not portfolio = not care. These is caused by the craftsman vs. artist dissonance that happens in the industry.

4x5 inch tattoo on the side of my ribcage cost.?

I m thinking about getting a tattoo on the side of my ribcage that has the NEDA symbol and says "destroy what destroys you" circling around it in typewriter font. (in all black as well). How much would something like this typically cost?

I got a bad tattoo yesterday, how can I fix it and do I have a right to complain?

Really sorry that you are not happy with your tattoo. It would be better if I can see the image which you used as a reference. I assume it was your first tattoo, as there were mistakes from both ends, artists and yours. Whatever I am gonna say, you may not like it but I will go ahead and say.For your specific case:Was it a free hand or stenciled?If it was stenciled, then the part of the mistake is yours also, every tattoo artist confirms after the stencil if the person is happy with the design and I assume you also checked that and confirmed the artist to go ahead.I assume the artist was inexperienced from what images you provided, as this could have been made a lot better with some black-gray shading then just black circles. So here there are two cases, either you didn't check the artist's work or they showed you the fake portfolio. In second case you can complain about the fake portfolio used by the artist.As far as cover up or removal is concerned, Laser is one option which you yourself mentioned. But I would suggest to first talk to the artist, and see what can be done with this. Complete converups that too of black tattoos are very hard as no other color with be that effective on top of black, but there are other possibilities for example make this tattoo a bit more complex, ask your artist to put some more details, some shading and come up with a design which is not as plain as this one, that will hide the flaws in this. If you are not willing to do that, then keep laser as the last option. Also keep in mind that laser removal costs a lot and also hurts a lot (what I heard, never experienced).  I would like to cover few points which every person going for tattoo should know:Whenever you go for a tattoo, you have to keep in mind that the design in the image and on the body will vary a lot, as out body is not a canvas and out skin is too lousy sometimes. Selection of the artist is one of the most important thing to be considered. Anyone who knows how the tattoo machine works is not a good artist.Quality of the tattoo piece is directly proportional to the money you pay (most of the time). I am not saying you tried saving money and went to inexperienced artist, but its a general point and people sometime don't understand why different artist take different price for the same piece.Thanks for A2A

How much does the average tattoo cost?

It depends on several factors. Where do you live? How big is the tattoo? How much detail? How much color? How experienced is the artist? Does the owner of the shop have a minimum price?Taking all of these into account, you will be spending at least $50, and depending on what you want, upwards of over $1,500 across multiple visits. Many shops have a minimum price in order to do a tattoo, mainly to cover the cost of needles, ink, supplies, etc. So even if you wanted to get just a couple of lines, you my have to spend that. The more detail involved, and the more colorful the piece is going to be, that will raise the cost quickly. Details need different needles, and shading requires different amounts of ink. For example, a tattoo covering your forearm, all black ink, and simple design, may cost about $300. Now if you take that same piece, add some smaller designs thrown around in the main tattoo, and have a couple of colors added as well. That will bring the price up to closer around $500–600.I have 13 tattoos myself. The lowest amount I have spent was $75, and it was for a small tribal design that came off of a sheet of flash art, done on my wrist, which took about 35 minutes. The highest amount was $600 plus a tip of $100 for a completely custom quarter sleeve on my shoulder/upper arm, which took about 7 hours. (And when I say custom, I mean the artist sat down with a few markers, and drew everything freehand directly onto my arm, and even added some more after the main part was done.)The best thing you can do is prepare yourself, and expect to want more tats as you go. I started off with just one, and told myself that it was gonna be just that one. 10 years later, I’m still planning out more work. Do some investigating, and find someone in your area that looks like they match what you are looking for. Once you find “your guy”, stick with them. They can give you some special discounts as they see fit for continued customers. (Got a tattoo done on my left arm that is loaded with detail, and has 6–7 different colors with shading. Shop owner wanted $500, but my guy convinced him to charge me only $175, due to why I was getting it done in the first place, which is an entire story in itself.)I wish you the best of luck, and hope you get what you are looking for.
