Help Sensitive Teeth With Braces

Extremely sensitive teeth after braces?

It's pretty normal for this to happen. After I got my braces on, I could'nt anything other than liquids and somewhat squishy foods (jello, mashed potatoes) for around two weeks. I also couldn't bite on things or hold things in my mouth such as my hockey mouth guard. After a while the pain will subside, don't worry.

Just got my braces off, sensitive teeth [to cold]?

Hi! I got my braces off this friday (three days ago) after a whopping four years of treatment (my 17th bday was on sat)..and my teeth are pretty good.. I had no decalcification or white spots or anything when they came out...my teeth were pretty sore after they came out (but this is probably because of my retainers) and I'm still sore in the mouth..my gums were swollen but that has gone away now..
but recently, starting yesterday, everytime I rinse my mouth with cold water, it hurts. The weird thing is, if I drink it, it's ok but rinsing it or breathing in cold air hurts...
Is it because my ortho took out my enamel during the process..or is this normal? Keep in mind its only been three days so far!
Thank you very much!

Sensitive teeth because of braces?

i put braces on 31st dec 2013 and today is my 4th day and the pain still wont go away.

my teeth are naturally sensitive to cold stuffs but its only if i bite ice cream or ice. but after i put braces, my lower right tooth really hurt alot when i gargle or drink cold water. but if its warm and hot water, its okay. people say i should drink cold drinks to numb the pain but for me, it only made it worse.

before i do my braces, the dentist say i dont have any cavity so i dont know whats the problem, is it normal? please answer

Sensitive teeth because of braces?!?

well, unfortunately, this is supposed to happen. the braces are moving your teeth and it is going to hurt the first couple weeks but you get to used to it, i know i have braces.
to make the pain go down have a tylonal or aspirin (but not too many, follow the instructions on the back of the bottle! eating too many won't make you feel better, just sick) and put the wax that the orthodontist gave you over the tooth. this wax will make the bracket smooth against your moth so it won't rip and tear at your mouth. but, your mouth toughens after about three to four months with the braces and this won't happen any more. after that, all you can do is eat soups and ice creams and nothing hard, dont touch it, and then if a week or two later it still is hurting that bad then go into the orthodontist and he will tell you if everything is all right. but, really, it's normal and there is no need to worry. think of those pearly whites youll have when they come off!

Is it normal for my teeth to be sensitive after the first week with braces?

Yes it’s completely normal. No need to worry about it because there are many causes for the teeth to be sensitive in the first one and two weeks after braces:Sensitivity can be due to tooth movement after braces which cause a bit of gum soreness for a transient period which is responsible for sensitivity.Bonding of braces to the teeth surface requires a process of bonding which consist of etching and bonding which causes a mild sensitivity after wards which resolves within weeks due to natural mineralization mechanism through saliva and fluoride in your toothpaste. What you can do to overcome this sensitivity:Maintain a proper hygiene oral routine (you have to brush your teeth after every meal).Avoid food that are hard to chew for the first week as gums are sore that’s why they are sensitive to bite forces.Avoid biting on hard food directly from anterior teeth like apply ,corn knob etc.i hope this answer might be helpful to you.keep smiling :)

How to help sore teeth from braces?

Noooo Not Tylenol. Im surprised they didn't tell you that the ONLY thing that works for mouth pain is Ibuprofen such as in Advil. It is the only thing!! I am out of braces and my son is currently in them and I promise it works. Get some Advil. And wear the wax so the insides of your mouth don't shred up for the first week or so til your mouth gets used to the braces.

It's all worth it in the end, your teeth will be so pretty. Good luck!! Now go get some ADVIL!!

After had braces tightened this time, my teeth are sensitive to cold water?

i've been had braces for a year and a half. i've been for tightening yesterday, and when i drink cold water, they are super sensitive.i never felt like this before for the 1 year and half of braces. my ortho added hook and put on more rubber to close the gap for my upper teeth. My lower teeth was perfectly in place and the gap has closed. is this normal?

Teeth sensitive after braces tightening?

For example if i breath through my mouth with my teeth showing , and as well as for cold water . Is it normal? It hurts like crazy . Like bad bad bad pain . Also im going to add i got chain on my braces . But only one of the top ones hurt like crazy the rest dont .

I got my braces off yesterday and my teeth are really sensitive?

So yesterday morning I got my braces off (yay!), but I have noticed that my teeth are really sensitive. Whenever I drink or eat anything cold, like ice cream or milk, they start to hurt pretty bad. But as soon as I stop drinking or eating whatever it is it stops. My teeth are pretty white and I don't have any spots of where the brackets were or decalcification or anything. And the only thing I can really see is that my gums are swollen, but I don't know how that would effect the pain on my teeth. (the orthodontist said the swelling would go down in a few days since there is no more metal in my mouth)

Why are my teeth sensitive after getting my braces off?

I got my braces taken off and everything looks great -- no spots, they're white and shiny!!! -- but i have noticed that I cannot drink anything cold or hot. This sensitivity has gotten worse (just my front teeth) as the day has gone by and I'd like to know if thats normal. The removal went fine, altho when they scraped the glue off of my front teeth that hurt a lot too.
