What are some good science question?

Ok so i'm in middle school and my science teacher makes us do this thing every week where we have to come up with a science question and research the answer. Some of the things i've already done are ..Why do misquote bites itch? Why do oil and water not mix? Why do leaves change color? Why is a sky blue.. ect. But now I'm having trouble with thinking up more. We have to do 2 each week. Please give some suggestions! Any "science" question that uses the word why and is appropriate and not too complicated to answer. Thanks!
Oh and by the way most questions get voted best answer!!

Why is secondary school education important?

Education is the most basic necessity. It is the most treasured privilege that one can have. It is the extremely important for an individual’s mental and social growth. Education in general is very very important and everybody must get the access to basic education right from their childhood.Coming to your question ‘why is secondary school education important?’Secondary school is important because those are the years before entering the bigger and serious part of education that is CAREER.It is extremely important to focus during these years. Students get into their teenage and are all excited about so many things. Secondary school gives the student a wider scope and perspective about the education and what career choice to make in the future. They get a detailed knowledge about intermediate courses, college options, entrance exams, etc. They’re basically being prepared for the longer run.Right from counselling in school to studying from the boards and picking the right subjects for 11th and 12th. This entire process is extremely important. It leads the students towards a brighter and successful future.Hence, secondary school education is IMPORTANT.If you are in the secondary school and looking for some basic counselling about your future or have already entered high school and looking for guidance regarding your career choices, please feel free to connect with Univariety.Univariety’s guidance to students has resulted in scholarships to 3000+ students.Click here for free guidance.Hope this helped. Please feel free to comment below in case of any doubts/ questions. What are the important topics on which questions are asked in Comp.Sc. internship interviews at NITK and how should I prepare for them . Specific and clear answers would be appreciated?

For CS/IT grads Ananthatejas Raghavan's answer is very appropriate. This answer is directed towards non CS/IT grads who are interested in coding jobs. The following are the steps which I would recommend in the given order, however they can be followed in any order according to your interests:1. Read Algorithm Design Manual by Professor Steven Skienna (Link: Page on sysu.edu.cn). While Introduction to Algorithms by Corment et al. is definitely the authority on the subject, ADM is easier to understand and provides useful tricks to solving key questions which are asked in interviews. 2. Read Algorithms by Dasgupta et al. (Link: Page on beust.com), chapter 6 onward. They talk about the finer aspects of dynamic programming, linear programming, NP etc. 3. Practice coding on HackerRank (Link: HackerRank ). This will help you practice what you have learnt. Also, this is the platform used by Facebook, RocketFuel, Quora for their interviews. So it will be helpful to get used to it.4. Now that you are comfortable with Algorithms, you should prepare a but of Math as well. Especially for a non CS grads, there might be a few Math questions in your interview. Try this blog by Pratik Poddar (IIT Bombay alumnus) (Link: CSE Blog - quant, math, computer science puzzles). Doing the above will be sufficient for a large number of interviews. The following steps are optional and will just improve your chances.5. Learn the nuances of a language. Ideally Java and Python because that will help you learn an object oriented language and a scripting language. Try SCJP (Link: Page on java.net). 6. Learn foundations of OS, Computer Architecture, databases and ML (if interested). This will definitely not supplement a full time CS course. However, this will ensure that you that you are not left blinking when asked a question on this. 7. Finally, for ten days before the interview, practice writing on the board. In most interviews you won't have an IDE or the Internet to help you out. Practicing on the board will give you the feeling of a real interview and will ensure you don't get flustered during the actual interview.

Help with High School Choices: Townsend Harris and Bronx Science?

I don't think you should give up on your dream just because your friends are going to different schools or because of what your parents say. You can still keep in touch with your friends even if you guys go to different schools. I also got accepted into Townsend and Bronx but most of my friends are going to Bronx. I'm going to miss my friends a lot, but I think I'm going to go to Townsend because it's a really great school and it's closer than Bronx. I also believe that what high school you go to is important so I won't go to a school just because all my friends are going there. What really matters is if you, yourself, want to go to that school or not. =]

I got a really bad grade on a science fair project?

Well I got a 78 on my science fair project. I have always been bad at them but this is the year when grades are important, and they determine what high school you get in. My average is still a high A, but this science fair was huge. I got a 25/32. One more point and I would have gotten a B. My parents are going to kill me. We can't do revisions either. I am stuck with this grade, and I am stuck with the fact that my parents will kill me and make me feel worse than i already feel (if that's even possible). Please do not tell me it's okay and that it doesn't matter because it does. Just any advice on how to not get murdered by my parents and just overall lift my self esteem?

How does a Bachelor of Science degree prepare you for medical school? Specifically what within the degree helps you in medical school?

In answer to the second part of your question: nothing. And everything. Your question is sort of like asking "what purpose does scaffolding serve in a finished building?"   or "Specifically what within 7th grade helps you in your senior year of high school?"To get in to medical school (in the US) you  have to do well on the MCAT, which includes organic chem, bio, physics, gen chem, genetics, and biochem. Those subjects (especially genetics, biochem, and cellular biology) are really important in your first year of medical school. And what you learn in your first year is really important in your 2nd year.  at some point, you get pretty far removed from the "basics" that you learned in college, yet those basics are still the foundation of everything you know. And they come back to haunt you in the strangest ways sometimes. Just last night, I was talking to an orthopedist about the 6 simple machines (wheel, inclined plane, etc).  Or see How much do doctors use every fact learned in medical school? Now, do you need to major in one of those subjects? or be "pre med?" Or even get a BS?  nope!  You can get your degree in just about anything - about 2 weeks ago, I interviewed a residency applicant who had gone to art school and, after getting an MFA, decided he wanted to go into medicine. He had done very well in medical school, graduating near the top of his class. In my med school class there were english majors, a japanese major, a latin major, music majors, a theater major... Do any of those things have anything to do with medicine? Not really, but as Daniel Caligiuri points out, going to college builds your thinking skills. And humanities majors build your human skills.  Medicine is both a science and an art, and I think sometimes students forget the art part. It's all important. Learn as much as you can.

What do you have to study in highschool to be a physcrist?

It is not so important what you take in high-school.
when you get to college you will have to make a decision as to whether you want to be a psychologist or a psychiatrist.
there are a lot of differences between the two.
first of all a psychiatrist can prescribe medicine and has to go to medical school: If this is the route you want to go, get a bachelor of science (B.S.) in biology or chemistry, some schools offer a B.S. in Psych. Then take the MCAT ( test to get accepted to Medical school)
graduate and do your rotations and residency in Psychiatry.
A clinical psychologist does counseling
or talks with people to help them with life problems, though there are many other ways to practice psychology.
to become a clinical psychologist Get a B.A. ( Bachelor of arts) in psychology Take the GRE subject test in psychology and get accepted to a graduate school with a clinical psych program.

Either route you choose make sure to get good grades in high school and really go grades in college

Why do teachers make students do difficult math and science problems by hand, when in real life technology can handle the hard problems and get the answer right in a matter of seconds?

I’ve got some bad news and some worse news. The bad news is that those problems that can be done by hand aren’t really difficult, they’re only difficult for you. The worse news is that the problems that technology can solve for you from start to finish aren’t actually difficult either.Difficult problems are the ones you have to invent a solution for because no one else has figured out how to solve them before. They are the kind of problems that, even if you understand exactly what you want to know, you have no idea how to ask a computer to help you know it.The good news is, if you get really good at solving the hard-for-you-right-now problems by hand (and later with technological tools), then maybe some day when you tackle an actual hard problem, you may be able to make enough progress by hand to simplify the problem to the point where it is easy enough for technology to give you the answer. When that day comes, you will realize that all the time you now feel like you are wasting doing problems by hand is actually an investment in your future as a real-world problem solver. If that day comes for you, be sure to write nice thank you notes to the teachers you now resent. They are usually under-paid and under-appreciated so your note will remind them why they decided to teach in the first place.
