Help White Cloud Swimming Upside Down

Help! White Cloud swimming upside down!?

I have a 10G tank with a 10i whisper filter setup, temp at 76. There is 1 male Guppy 1 female Guppy and 2 female platys and a baby betta and 3 white clouds . I introduced a platy a month ago which petco failed to tell me had been recovering from a anchor worm .. which I believe has infected my tank as I am a newbie but since I introduced it my other fish look like their pooping these big long strings .. is this anchor worm?

Since then I returned the platy to petco and purchased a baby betta instead , other then that no new changes were made until today when I noticed my tank which is 4 months into its cycle was VERY CLOUDY and all the fish are swimming at the top appearing to be eating something ... I noticed it's comING from the filter it looks like a reddish gunk or oily something ... I attempted a 25 percent water change followed by a start enZyme tablet. A hour later the fish were back at the top.so I.knew the oily stuff was back ..

I did a 100 percent water change a few hours later rinsed the filter changed the filter and re cycled.the tank this time.with salt, a water conditioner and a life guard tablet. Again the tank is cloudy the fish are all swimming at the top eating whatever is floating from the filter ...

Im.worried sick.something is wrong and I'm so upset cause just 20 min ago 2 hours after.my.last.cycle one of the minows as I was watching got caught in the current of the filter flipped upside down and floated to the top not breathing ..looked.dead
..

Why does my blackmoor float upside down when resting?

His floating upside down could be due to swim bladder disorder, which can be aggravated by an inappropriate diet, and poor water quality.

1. Make sure that you tank is large enough to support your fish. Based on what you have, you need a 50 gallon bare minimum.

2. Feed your goldfish a sinking pelleted diet, or saturated flake (use a turkey baster to dispel it below the waterline) to avoid gulping down air at the surface. Provide more roughage in their diet- lettuce, sliced zucchini, or anacharis/elodea.

3. Perform regular maintenance and test your water for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates.

My white cloud mountain minnow is gasping for breath and is upside down, is there anything i can do?

Try changing about 20-25% of the water, make sure you add dechlorinator. You could also add some aquarium salt if you have it although when the fish is to the point that it is swimming upside down there usually isn't much you can do.

NEED HELP WITH GLO FISH ASAP?

My guppies have done the same thing, even in a well-established (cycled) tank. It's most likely Swim Bladder Disease. Unfortunately, it's probably too late for your fish to be saved. You can try feeding them a few mashed peas, but it probably won't save them at this point. Swim Bladder Disease is caused by high levels of things like ammonia, nitrites, nitrates. The only thing you can do is to cycle your tank so if you want to get more fish, they'll survive.

I think the easiest method for you would be cycling with fish. Find a hearty fish that you'd like to keep in your tank, something like Zebra Danios or White Clouds. No more than 5 of them per 10-20 gallon tank for the first month. During the month, you need to check the levels of Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate every few days. First the ammonia will get high, then the nitrites will get high, and then the nitrates will get high. Once the nitrates are high and the ammonia and nitrites are gone, your tank has completely cycled. If your ammonia gets higher than 3.0ppm you should do a 20% water change. A good thing to help you cycle your tank is a product called Stability. Along with the addition of fish, it provides the tank with bacteria to help the cycle.

Since you don't want to kill your fish, you may want to consider using Ammo-lock if your ammonia levels get too high. Ammo-lock will neutralize the ammonia in your tank so it doesn't burn your fish and cause them to die. It doesn't get rid of ammonia, so it won't kill the cycle.

Remember to keep up with weekly water changes of 20% about once every two weeks after the cycle is done, more often if you have a lot of fish. You'll want a gravel cleaner for that. You can use the test strips to determine how long it takes for the nitrate levels to get higher so that you don't do water changes too frequently or infrequently.

You don't have to use all of these exact products, nor do you have to get them from PetSmart, that's just the only place that I can find all of those products at, most of which I've used myself and recommend. Petco has a lot of those products, and even Walmart has some of them if you don't have a local PetSmart or just don't like them.

I hope all of this information helps you, and maybe some other people. :)

Gold Fish dying? Cloudy eye??! HELP!!?

I have had this goldfish for about 5-6 years. I love him and im afraid he is dying I changed his tank water and cleaned everything about 3 weeks ago. 2 Days after that i noticed his forehead was really red like blood, well over the next few days these blood red spots appeared every where else but dissapeared from the spot from the day before. 2 week ago i realized his eyes were turning white and cloudy, i thought he was going blind, and then he had a few white spots on him. Those spots dissapaered after awhile but his eyes started to get even more cloudier and it looks like he can barely see out of them and they look like they got a little bit bigger than before. For about a week i have not seen him eat and i am getting worried, the past 5 days he has been swimming in the corner of the tank and barely moving. his top fin peeks out of the water about 2 centimeters and he has been opening his mouth very wide as if he is gasping for air and i feel so so bad. Sometimes hes will start swimming out of no where after staying in the corner and he is going in circles at times but not all the time ( my brother thinks he is going crazy and wants to kill him) His one eye looks like it has a hole in it and it is freaking me out. There are no more red spots on him but his eyes are extremely cloudy and he has his mouth wide open a lot and when he swims it is at an angle where his face is downward and his tail goes up. I dont want him to die, i want him survive. What is wrong with him and how can i help my fish?!?!?!?!?
His tank needs to be cleaned again but i am afraid to change it because he might die or get worse.

I tried to take pictures but he wouldn't stop swimming in circles (sorry for the bad quality) I hope they will help. http://www.flickr.com/photos/65536998@N04/

Thank you

My goldfish keeps floating to the top and has to swim down constantly. What can I do to help?

Sounds like he's having trouble regulating his swim bladder. Did you know there's an air sac inside of fish that changes their buoyancy? Swim bladder issues are a fairly common problem, especially in certain types of fish. There are a couple of different things that can cause this:Sometimes this is caused by constipation. If your fish has a full intestine, that puts pressure on the swim bladder and makes it harder for the fish to release extra air. Try feeding him blanched peas, without the skin and cut to bite size. If that doesn't work, you might try adding Epsom salt to the water (only a small amount, and be sure to dissolve it in water before adding). Both are effective in "cleaning out" the fish's intestines.Sometimes this is caused by poor water conditions. Are you changing the water on a regular basis? For a typical aquarium with a filter, you need to change the water every two weeks. Remove about 25% of the water and replace it with clean, dechlorinated water. If you don't change the water on a regular basis, toxic substances will start building up in the water over time. It's always a good idea to monitor the presence of toxic substances in the water, and you can do that with a water testing kit. If you don't have a water testing kit, be sure to pick one up from your local pet store.

Birds: Do eagles fly above the cloud level when it rains?

1st Off just to clear things up: Very Few Birds ever Fly in the Rain. While your Sea Going birds will more often just because of their environment, but most of them will take a squat on the seashore or in a calm ocean area in a group and wait it out. Probably around 90% of your songbird types will not fly any distance in the rain as their feathers are too thin and when wet, they can not maintain flight. Larger birds like Eagles, Hawks, Falcons and Buzzards/Vultures, who all have stronger wings and can fly in the rain have no desire (instinct) to fly higher during a rain storm...as there is nothing up there for them to eat...and with the clouds blocking their view of the ground and their food it would be senseless...and that's not the way Mother Nature works.Just for the Record:You DO know WHY birds fly around all the time, don't you ? I didn't think so...trust me they ain't playing tag or hide and seek !!!FACT: about 75% of a Birds life is about finding food and the rest is about mating and rearing their offspring...So even though some breeds can fly above the clouds, there's no reason for them too....the one exception is during migration.

Is thier any freshwater fish that swim in schools?

Many fish swim in schools. As said above, tetras, danios, barbs, and corydoras, are all schooling fish.

My cardinal tetras school beautifully.
