Help Why Are There Coloured Vertical Lines On My Laptop Screen

My laptop's screen turned into vertical lines with more than color. What can I do?

I just had to re-use my old Toshiba, with a quarter of the screen showing vertical lines. The next day, it was 1/4 unsee-able and had crept up with the vertical lines to 3/4 of the page. I read everything possible about cables, graphics, tried everything. Then I had the strangest thought: touch the screen, to see if it moves. I touched (actually massaged, embarrassing as it is to write) the screen and the blackout stopped but the 3/4 lines remained. I did another massage and it’s clear as day. Not a graphics card, driver update, cord or jangle on the internals.Seriously, LCD screens (apparently) need a little TLC. Grin.Hope this helps you, and anyone else looking for a solve.

My laptop has colored vertical lines on the screen all of a sudden?

Hi,

Assuming that you are describing a laptop then is most likely fault the connection between the screen and the motherboard or a hardware fault.

Try moving the screen backwards and forwards if that changes the display it is the screen connector.

You will need to take the laptop to a repair centre.

If it is a desktop then re-boot and see if that helps.

If it does not then try the monitor and cable on a friends pc to see if the monitor or the pc is at fault.

Colored vertical lines running on laptop screen?

Try squeezing the bezel that borders the outside of the LCD panel, working from one side around the entire screen. You should notice that squeezing one point will make the lines disappear. If it does not, then you know that the Video adapter is the problem and will have to have a technician look at it.

How do you fix colored lines on a laptop screen?

“How do you fix colored lines on a laptop screen?”That’s mission impossible. No safe, reliable, durable fix exist beyond replacing the display panel. The static colored strips are caused by either the FFC cable separating from the glass, or the COG driver chips separating from the FFC. Or probably broken cable, damaged glass or driver chip, but these are less typical. You can experiment with a hot air gun to rework the soldering, but the prognosis is very bad, and there is a high chance of further damage. R.I.P.

Thin vertical colored lines in middle of laptop screen?

Ok, the last two answers are crap. Absolute crap. I wish you lived near me so I could prove these idiots wrong, because in all likelihood I could restore your CURRENT LCD screen to full functionality. I'm sick of people saying, "Oh, it's got some colored horizontal/vertical lines through the screen; nothing you can do but replace it." That's crap. The circuitry on the back of your LCD screen is very fragile, and the connections break all the time, causing the lines you are seeing. It is also very easy to fix. The break in the circuitry is usually very small, and a simple bit of stress on the affected area pulls the connections back together again. I work with laptops all the time, and just the other day I fixed an LCD screen that had a white vertical line through it with a few strips of foam padding and some duct tape. Yes, it's redneck-esque, but it works flawlessly, it completely restore's your screen's functionality, and it's a fairly permanent fix. DON'T THROW THESE SCREENS AWAY! At the very least, send them to me so I can fix them and use them for the laptops I am refurbishing.

Vertical dotted lines in the middle of my laptop screen? Running Windows 8.?

See if it is there in Safe Mode
Restart the laptop and hold the Shift Key and tap F8 about once a second, until you see "Loading Advanced Boot Menu"
Choose Safe Mode

If the artifacts are gone:
Press Windows Key + R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter
Double Click Display Adapter
Driver Tab
Uninstall
Restart and go to HP and update the driver

Connect to a TV or Desktop Monitor with a VGA or HDMI cable
If it does not show on external connection , you probably have a bad LCD screen

My Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop suddenly got colored vertical lines?

I was just doing normal stuff on my laptop and then all of a sudden the screen started to fade into a bunch of colored lines running up and down my screen. The contrast changed, and I tried rebooting, but the lines were still there. When i plugged my laptop into an external monitor, it worked completely fine. basically, my laptop is fully functional, but it's not showing anything but colored lines. When i change anything on the normal screen, the color of the lines will change slightly. I'm not sure if it's my GPU, my graphics card, or if my LCD cords aren't connected properly. My laptop did not overheat, in case that might help. I want to be able to fix this the fastest and cheapest way possible. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Oh, and this is what my screen looks lik now: http://www.mediafire.com/view/xm7bv77zw64tsba/2013-05-19_19.26.06.jpg

P.S. - Every once in a while the screen returns slightly to normal and then changes back to vertical lines.
