Help With Acting Questions

I need help on these three physics questions! (10 points to correct/best answer!)?

1a) The other two forces are friction going backwards along the ramp, and gravity going straight down.

1b) The car accelerates down the ramp. Since gravity is the only force acting in a downward direction, it can be concluded that gravity is the force helping its motion.

1c) By definition, friction is a force that opposes motion, so it is the force acting against the motion of the car.

2)The net force acting upward on Molly has to balance the downward force of 500N. The net upward force is the sum of the force in each chain. If the forces weren't exactly balanced in each chain, then there would also be a sideways acceleration. Therefore, the force in each chain must be exactly half of the net force, which has to equal 500N. The force in each chain is 500N/2=250N.

3) Newton's Third Law says that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. What this means is that if the other team pulls on the rope with say 400N of force, the rope pulls back on them with the same amount of force. Therefore, to win, it doesn't matter whether you pull on the rope or not, because by them pulling on the rope, it produces the same effect as you pulling on the rope (hence the equal and opposite reaction). Instead, a better strategy to win is instead to conserve your energy by letting the opposite team to all the work by pulling the rope, and simply get a good firm footing. If you get a good grip on the ground, while the other team doesn't, the tension in the rope will have to try to accelerate you AND the rest of the earth (very hard to do) while it will only have to accelerate the opposite team's members. Since objects will take the path of least resistance, the opposite team will essentially pull themselves over the line, and lose.

Cheers.

Physics Question, really need help?

These are both uniform circular motion problems.

1) For uniform circular motion, Centripetal Force is given by either of two equations:

F = mv^2/r
F = w^2rm

m = mass
r = radius
w = "omega" = angular velocity
v = tangential velocity

All of these satellites have the same angular velocity, so you just need to order them by decreasing mL to get the list in order from highest to lowest.

I get: A B C E F D. (C, E and F are all the same.)

(2)
The angular velocity is w = 2pi * 100 rpm.
The tangential velocity v = rw = (2pi)(100)(130/2) = 13000pi cm/min

13000pi cm/min = 130pi m/min = 13pi/6 m/sec
= 6.8068 m/s

Film Direction: What are some good questions to ask an actor?

It depends on who you are interviewing and how comfortable they are answering questions. I never asked an actor about their personal life and stuck to their professional work. What inspired you to be an actor? Most actors like to talk about a film or performance that inspired them to follow this career. How did you prepare for the role? Generally stick to their latest performance as they are talking to you because they are promoting their film/play. If you are writing a longer profile piece then they can elaborate further.What role would you like to play? Actors love a challenge and will reel off a couple of characters, usually from Shakespeare that they would enjoy tackling. Do you have a preference for theatre or film? Many actors enjoy working in the theatre because they are performing in front of an audience and receive instant feedback. Who would be your dream crew? This can be anyone from director, writer, cinematographer to other actors. It is good to acknowledge that success in this industry also requires an excellent crew. What would you do if you couldn't act? Many actors are quite insecure and worry that they will never work again. The chances are that they've already thought about alternative career paths and some of their responses are quite entertaining.

My keyboard is acting odd can anyone help?

If you want to find out if it is a virus or infection... try a different keyboard.Yes, yes.  I realize your first impression there would be something like "But I'm on a laptop"... which would ignore the fact that you should have provided that information in your question AND the fact that you can always connect a USB keyboard to your laptop.The point?  If it is an infection that is affecting how your keyboard works, it will persist with a different keyboard.If it is an infection, I'd recommend taking the computer to a shop and letting them clean the system.  That, or performing a factory recovery and resetting your computer back to how it was when it was brand new.Now... if it is the actual keyboard, then replacing the keyboard with a USB keyboard would make the problem go away.  Ok... this would prove that the problem was hardware not software... and that could be a few things, but most LIKELY the keyboard itself would be to blame.I find that probably 85% or more of the time when people bring their laptops into the shop with typing issues, there is evidence of a spill underneath the keyboard.  I've noticed that about 75% of the people who bring computers in with typing issues will say that they didn't spill anything on their laptops (because that's the first question I ask when there is a typing issue)... but will recant or play ignorant after they are shown evidence of said spill.  I am very disappointed that only 1 out of 4 will admit they spilled something upfront... without having to be pressed on the issue.At any rate, that's one easy and cheap way to start to diagnose your issue.  Use a different keyboard.

What are some skills you've acquired from acting that help you the most in your everday life?

So much!As someone else said, emotional intelligence. Much like people who read a lot, actors are more able than some to decipher how another person might be feeling, even if they haven't been in that situation themselves.Going with the flow. Things go wrong onstage, and you can't stop to fix them. Theatre taught me how to professionally cover any mistakes made to keep up the quality of whatever I'm doing. It also taught me not to sweat everything, because most of the time, no one even knows that you covered.Reading comprehension. I was always a good reader, but not all actors are; acting teaches you to not only read more fluently, but to parse the meaning of what you're reading on the spot.A thick skin. Acting is 99% rejection, and you have to learn how to deal with that if you're going to be in the biz.Public speaking skillsMemorizationPunctuality and dedication. Just like doctors, actors work weird hours on weird days, and you don't get a day off when you're performing. Don't feel like going to work? Too bad, you've got a show tonight. Feeling kinda sick? (Unless you have an understudy) the show must go on! Acting also generally requires you to give just as much effort at rehearsal as you did at your day job for 8 hours.

Disney Channel acting help?

Flying to the auditions in not even an option. The breakdowns for Disney auditions will not be put out to agents in Canada. You need to be in LA where the casting will happen, that's just the way it is. There are very few calls for Disney in Canada. Also, you need to decide whether or not you are an actor because actors do not choose a specific company to work for, that's just not the way it works. You have an agent who sends you on whatever you breakdown for whether or not it's Disney. If you tell an agent you only want to work for Disney, they will not take you on as a client.

TheatreDoc and Nikki are right. TD gave you a link with Disney info but I can tell you that 99 times out of 100 ore more it won't have any info for Canada. Nikki said something about not having worked recently and she's right on the money. It's great that you worked 7-9 years ago but no one will care. You have to basically start all over again. You obviously have charisma or no one would have ever booked you for a commercial but you need to get into classes and do some theatre and indie films to build a more recent resume. You have to have something to showe agents that you've done in the last few months, not years ago.

Get your parents to make you an account on Actorsaccess.com and upload a headshot and resume there then start submiting for projects. Maybe you'll get some good things through that. You can also check out backstage.com - casting search.

good luck,
Marianne

Help! problems with my acting career?

Use a mirror and a tape recorder. Read poems out loud and look for the subtext, (what's really being said as opposed to what you are saying). Study Shakespeare. Watch movies. Practice your pronounciation and speak SLOWLY, don't rush through it. Look for the pauses, silence can be more powerful than words. Practice re-acting more than acting. Learn to listen carefully, which is much different than just hearing.
Nobody can really teach you 'How to Act', they can only provide you with the skills to use. Skills are developed with practise. You'll never be perfect, but you will keep getting better.
Use your own experiences to aid you. Study regular people and mirroring skills, which is akin to mimicing. Always think about the moment before...what just happened before you entered a room will dictate HOW you enter a room (ex. Did you run up a flight of stairs or take the elevator.)
Life itself is one of your BEST teachers. Your understanding of human nature is a valuable asset. Then, if this is your true passion...NEVER GIVE UP. Determination is far greater than just ability.
I'm the guy who robbed the mini-mart in the movie "Detroit Rock City", so I'm not just making this up. I hope this helps.
