Can someone help me with my laptop charger?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop with a Dell charger. Last weekend the charger just cut off on me, I plugged it out and put it under the AC assuming that it was overheated it took 30 mins to come back on and start charging. On Thursday it cut on me again but this time it took 2 to 3 hours to start back working. Now it's cut again since last night now it's not even coming on now. My brother has the same charger, and I plugged out the cable that goes into the outlet and changed it with his and vice versa; and it works with his and not mines. I was wondering can someone tell me how to fix this problem? And get my charger working? Is it a shortage? Please help me. I'm sure if I leave a lil more longer it will start charging again....?????

How does setting your laptop battery to charge only upto 80% help in extending its life?

It is a known fact in the battery industry that for Lithium batteries to charge only upto no more than 90% capacity of the cell/battery and recharge it before it reaches 10% capacity will extend the battery life from 350 IEC full cycle to 800 cycles or more.  However, that "capacity" refers to the actual capacity of the cell/battery pack.Since the charge/discharge regime is known to the industry, most of the good device designers (e.g. Apple) have already factored it into the device power management circuitry.  In other words, when you charge your iPhone to "full", it actually charged it to only 90% and when the warning tells you that you have only 10% or 5% left in your battery, it actually had 20% or 15% for that matter in your battery. In that case, consumers doesn't really need to watch out for the charging or discharging level, just let the power management software do the job.The catch, however, is that when the iPhone tells you that your battery ran out, it is important to recharge the battery/phone right away.  Idle shut down phone actually is still consuming battery, to maintain for example the clock and other OS resident software.  So even when the phone is "shut down" due to battery outage or manual shut down, it does not shut down in real sense.  It actually went on deep sleep but continue to consume energy.  In that way, the tiny little discharge will drain the cell down below 10% of the cell capacity.  As a result, it would reduce the actual usable/cycle life.An important note here is that good and responsible device makers/designers will take serious consideration on the safety and user experience.  If we look at other 2nd tier / 3rd tier supplier or even worse ones, they might not be as careful as the first tiers.  This is part of the premium we usually paid for better brands.

HELP! My HP Laptop wont power on, and the charge light is flashing!?

The flashing lightning bolt symbol means that it is running out of battery power. If you have plugged it in and it still showing the flashing lightning bolt or doesn't turn on, there might not be any power. Check to make sure that the cord between the electrical outlet and the power brick is securely fasten. If that still doesn't work, then try a different outlet. Is the surge protector power switch off? If not and still no power, unplug the power brick from the electrical socket and try a different one elsewhere in the room.

If the all the above test failed, then you either have a bad battery charger/power brick. Have a friend who is handy with electronics check the voltage that comes out of the charger. If it is bad, then it is time to replace it.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Can you charge a laptop by using a thunderbolt?

In theory, a thunderbolt 3 port can transfer up to 100W of power. So there shouldn't occur any problem. But some vendors lock that feature for some reason that I don't know.So if any laptop has got thunderbolt 3 port along with the statement that it can charge through that port, then you are good to go. Some laptops like MacBook pro does support this feature and hence help you to keep the place tidy by just using 1 wire.

Whats wrong with my Toshiba laptop??? won't charge please help....?

Sorry for the long description...I have had my Toshiba satellite c55 laptop for a little over a year and it has worked great all the way up until about a couple weeks ago when I was doing homework and the battery was running low so i plugged it in and it wouldn't charge/ the battery life kept getting lower until my laptop turned off. I thought the charger was disconnected or something but everything was connected and when i tried to turn it on again with it securely plugged in it started up then turned off with in seconds [the charging light was not blinking, and i tried taking out and draining the battery to start it but nothing worked] I took the laptop into the shop and they said it was something wrong with the motherboard and it would cost more money to fix then what it was worth so i purchased a new laptop. When i brought it home i tried the new power charger with my old laptop and it turned on and started holding a charge. So i thought it was the charger and since I got my old laptop working i returned the new one and bought a new power cord on amazon. Well the new charger didn't fit into the adapter(it was loose) so i thought i bought the wrong one but when I compared it to my old charger it was the exact same one [even the old one fits loose like something broke off?] So now i don't know what to do get a new laptop or try to fix the problem? Its just hard because my laptop is working fine but once i need to charge it I can't. any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
