Help With My Hard Drive . My Hardisk Crashed Can I Still Recover My Files

If my hard drive crashed, am I still able to recover the files?

This depends on HOW the drive "Crashed"

Most drives fail for various mechanical reasons, and the majority of those fail in a "progressive" manner.

Most people refer to a "crashed drive" when their computer won't boot.

IF that is the case you MIGHT be able to recover data from it as a second drive
in another working computer (so you are not depending on that drive to boot the other system)

If the computer won't start and it's telling you that ther is "no boot device connnected" the chances are very small that you'll ever recover anything out of that drive besides some really strong magnets.,

MY HARD DISK HAS CRASHED, HOW CAN I RECOVER MY FILES? thanks alot?

This is my solution..

If you have 1 another Personal Computer, remove your crashed hard disk from your original PC and place it in your another PC (turn off first your second pc) by inserting the secondary power cable and IDE cable from another hard disk to your original hard disk.

after inserting the cables at the back of your original hard disk, insert the pin(the mini plastic thing when you buy a new hard disk) at the back also of your original hard disk at the second row.

MASTER DISK(your booting OS hard disk) to PRIMARY DISK(your original hard disk)

after you inserted the pin, boot the PC. If this work and you were able to click the My Computer at the desk top to the following things.

1. Open My Computer
2. You will see two drives (Drive C:(your booting drive) and Drive D:(your original hard disk))
3. You can now retrieve your important files and copy it to another hard disk.

That's my solution.. I hope this will help. ü

If all else fails, you can send your drive to a data recovery service, it will cost hundreds or thousands of dollars depending on what the problem is.
If you are going to send it out for recovery, the less fooling around with software you do with the drive on your own, the better.

How do I recover my deleted data files from a hard disk?

Thanks for A2A.Can we recover the formatted files from a computer? How is it possible? It is possible provided that it was only a quick format and nothing else has been written to the drive since. If it was the System drive then you are going to have to remove it and create a new System drive. If it was an external DATA drive, then you only need to make sure that you have enough blank space on another drive for the missing data to be written.Download and install a utility like Recuva. The free version will usually suffice.Connect up a completely blank (full formatted) external drive.Get Recuva to scan that drive and it should reveal nothing.Connect up your hoped-to-be-recovered external drive.Get Recuva to scan the source drive and it should start showing lists of files that are potentially recoverable.Instruct Recuva to write all recoverable files to the freshly prepared target drive.Shut down the system and put the currently “damaged” drive in a safe place.Start your system again, and copy all the files that you want to keep (usually photos and music) to their preferred location.Once you have exhausted this recovery drive of everything that you want to keep, both it and the original source drive can be formatted again and returned to active service. If the “damaged” drive is internal to your machine, but not the system drive, then still use a large enough external drive as the target. Don’t complain about the cost of purchasing a 2TB external HDD. It’s nothing compared to what it would cost you if you need a professional Data Recovery Warehouse would charge and there’s no guarantee that the data is recoverable even then. Besides, once everything is on the External, you can disconnect it while you make sure that you reformat the internal and then copy the files that you really want back into the machine. You then have a backup drive in the hope that you won’t make the same mistake a second time.

My hard drive crashed? How can I fix it?

You should scan your computer to find if there are missing, outdated, or corrupted drivers.Outdated hardware drivers can cause a lot of errors and even crash and slow down your computer and the infamous "blue screen of death"and even fail to start Windows. This can be a very serious problem and your computer might even fail to start Windows. Drivers are vital to a computer system. Without the right drivers, it is going to be impossible to make any device run. However, you don’t need just drivers.Outdated drivers may interfere with newer software. If you are fond of installing the latest and fastest programs over the internet and yet you continue to use old drivers, you are putting your whole system at jeopardy. You need new and current drivers to make sure that your system would work as designed. The most serious problems that they encounter as they use their computer may be resolved by a simple driver update. The best way to update all of your drivers is to use driver updating software. I should like to commend Driver Robot http://best-way-to-improve-pc-performance.com/update-drive.html to you.

How do I recover my deleted data files from a hard disk long time ago?

I assume you mean the files were deleted a long time ago. If this is the case, try FILERECOVERY, the link is for the PC version, but there is also one for Mac.Use the evaluation version to start, and have it scan your drive. If it can find our files, you can activate the software and save them. Now, if the files you are describing were deleted, and then many new files were written to the drive, it may be that the deleted files were over-written and may not be able to be recovered. It would depend on the size of the disk and the amount of free space that was still on it.

Hard Disk Crash-How do I recover data?

A Hard disc can be taken out of a computer, smashed with a lumb hammer left in sea water for two year and a computer engineers can still recover all it's data. But like the Guy above says, it all depends on how much you want to pay.

Word of advice, never throw away a computer with a crashed disc that has your bank details on and other private details, people can, and often do, recover those details to use for fraud.

Also remember the words of the early computer fraternity; 'If you do not have three copies of a file, it shows you do not value it'.

Can I recover C drive data if my laptop's motherboard crashed?

To recover all types of deleted files you can download Wondershare Data Recovery -> http://bitly.com/1uUrBB1

Any time that a file is deleted on a hard drive, it is not erased. Instead, the information that points to the location of the file on the hard drive is erased. This pointer, along with other pointers for every folder and file on the hard drive, is saved in a section near the beginning of the hard drive and is used by the operating system to compile the directory tree structure. By erasing the pointer file, the actual file becomes invisible to the operating system. Eventually, the hard drive will write new data over the area where the old file is located. The data recovery utilities search for data on the hard drive that does not have corresponding pointer information and present you with a list of these files. Your chances of fully recovering a file diminish the longer you wait after you deleted the file since the probability that the file has been overwritten increases.

My computer crashed, who can I get to read my hard drive and retrieve files?

You can do a parallel install where you reinstall the OS into another directory on the same hard drive. When it comes up, back up your data. Then you can keep on keeping on with the parallel install, format the drive and start fresh or,,,

Remove your old hard drive.
Install a new hard drive
Install the OS on the new drive.
Once your system is up and stable, set the jumper on the new drive to master and set the jumper on your old drive to slave.
Slave the old drive to the new drive, boot the system and copy your files to where ever you want.

This is what someone else is going to do if you take it to them and pay them. Slave your drive to their drive, copy the files, burn a CD or DVD and charge you for 2 hours worth of work.

Do it yourself, it's not hard and it's a whole lot cheaper!

Now this is all based on the fact that the drive works and your OS died. If the drive died then you have no choice but to pay large money to recover the files you really can't live without.
