Help With My Xbox Live Connection

How to make my connection faster for xbox live?

Xbox live works best with low latency. Therefore, using bandwidth on another device creates that much-hated lag. Your best bet is to work out a way so that when you're online, your brother isn't and vice versa.
You can play with a slow download speed as long as the lag isn't there. Check your latency on www.speedtest.net with and without the Xbox connected to Live. You will see the difference.

Why does my xbox live connection suck?

I used to have many problems with bad connections. My NAT was always "Strict" and I could hardly ever connect to games. Try going to the router company's website (DLink) and enter the model number into the search bar. Look around and see if you can update your router software (for your exact model) and download it to your computer. Now it gets tricky... Go into your xbox system settings and find out what your Gateway Address is (or IP address try both). (System settings-network settings-configure network). It should be a weird looking number with multiple decimals. Type the gateway address into the address bar of your computer exactly as you see it (no www or .com just the address). It should prompt a window asking for username and password. The default is usually Username: admin Password: password (or try Password: admin). If successful, it will open your router settings page. Look around the page for something like router upgrade. Follow any instructions you see to update your router software. You will probably then upload the software you downloaded earlier from the dlink website. Next most likely it will want you to wait a few minutes and then reset your router after the update is complete (unplug router, plug back in). This SHOULD fix problem if software was done correctly. It should also boost internet connection for anyone using it. It sounds difficult and strange but it isn't too bad. I searched and searched for a solution and finally came across this updating router software stuff and it worked like a charm, my NAT is now open with a perfect connection. Good Luck.

How do you connect an Xbox 360 to a PC?

Why do you need to connect an Xbox 360 to a PC? If you actually meant that you want to output the video from an X360 to a PC monitor, if your X360 has an HDMI slot (the older ones didn't have one), then use that to output to the monitor. Otherwise, you would need to convert from component video to DVI or HDMI, whichever is available as an input on the monitor. The other option is if you mean to stream video/audio from your PC to the X360 and maybe watch on your TV. This can be easily accomplished via DLNA. Check the below instructions for this:Streaming Media on Xbox I hope this answered your question.

Which is more crucial for a great Xbox Live connection: upstream or downstream speed?

Speed is mostly irrelevant, as is ping time. What matters is jitter. As long as your throughput is high enough ( usually about 100 Kbit/sec maxiumum), you won't have any bandwidth issues. Ping times of 100ms RTT or lower won't be noticeable. But if you have a crummy router, suffer from BufferBloat (http://www.bufferbloat.net/), or just have a low-quality connection with wildly varying ping times, then you'll get pwned all night long.

How do you connect an external hard drive to an Xbox 360?

Original Xbox 360:You can connect external HDD to an Xbox via one of the USB ports (on front or back of your console).Since April 2015 you can connect up to 2 2TB HDD to your console (your Xbox 360 needs to be updated from Xbox Live). Before that update you were able to use only 32GB max.Keep in mind, that your HDD will be formatted to special FATx format, so your HDD becomes "unreadable" in your PC. You cannot use your HDD for anything else than Xbox games (without formatting again to computer readable format like FAT32 or NTFS).I am not sure, but I think there was an option to use only part of your HDD space and you were able to choose, how much space you will dedicate to your Xbox 360 FATx format.Modded Xbox 360:If you have "modded" console, you can connect any HDD. You can even play games via LAN from your network storage, like HDD in your computer or NAS.Sorry for my English, hope it helps.

Why am I randomly disconnecting from Xbox live?

There are a few reasons for why this is happening.Your internet connection: it might be super slow and not giving you enough upload speed, try resetting your router and reconfiguring it on your XboxMultiple devices are trying to use the account: If you have your account on someone elses Xbox, if they sign in, you get signed out. There’s an issue at Microsoft: Not much you can do, check DownDetector, if you search xbox live downdetector it will show you any recent problems and if other people are saying they are having issues.Your Xbox: It could just be your Xbox having something wrong with the connectors, I doubt it, but if no one else is having the problem and you’ve tried my previous solutions, you might be out of luck
