How did prince henry contribute to ocean exploration?

I assume you mean Prince Henry the Navigator.
In a nutshell, Henry the Navigator built the foundation of the mighty Portuguese Empire.

Henry the Navigator was the son of King John I of Portugal and Philippa of Lancaster (daughter of John of Gaunt and granddaughter of Edward III of England).
He strongly believed that Portugal can achieve greatness and become on of Europe's leading powers through exploration and conquer.

Henry encouraged King John to conquer Ceuta, the Muslim port on the North African coast across the Straits of Gibraltar from the Iberian peninsula.
He learnt of the opportunities from the Saharan trade routes that terminated there, and became fascinated with Africa in general.

Henry is also regarded as the patron of Portuguese exploration.
Until his time, Cape Bojador remained the most southerly point known to Europeans on the unpromising desert coast of Africa; as a direct result of his work (on exploration), Zarco, Perestrelo and Teixeira (re)discovered the Madeira Islands in 1420, and at Henry's instigation Portuguese settlers colonized the islands.
In 1427, one of Henry's navigators discovered the Azores: Portugal soon colonized these islands as well.
Gil Eanes, the commander of one of Henry's expeditions, became the first European known to pass Cape Bojador in 1434. This was a breakthrough as it was considered close to the end of the world, with difficult currents that did not encourage commercial enterprise.

Prince Henry also had a great input in the foundation of the University of Lisbon (one of the greatest centres of sciences of the time) by proposing and helping to unite all the sciences — grammar, logic, rhetoric, arithmetic, music and astronomy — into one single University, where students would be able to get comprehensive education.

A side result of the explorations and discoveries was the influx of gold, silver, species and other valued items of the time, which permitted Portugal to become incredibly influential.

What was the strongest moment in your life where you felt "I belong here"?

I spent 30 years in the Navy…BUT…I was in a career field that was more technical than many…meteorology/oceanography. As a child when I thought about the Navy I pictured the “romantic” side of being at sea..on a sailing ship, with the wind whistling through the riggins…crashing waves…all those old black and white movies of old…and pictures in the history books. Well after about 15 years I was assigned to a LHA which is about the size of an old WWII aircraft carrier…1,060 ft. long that carried harrier jump jets, helos and 1,200 marines. We were sailing south from the Philippines to Perth Australia and off the northwest coast of Australia we were hit by storm force winds for four days. We were sailing south and the winds were from the west southwest at 60 kts…and the seas built up to 40 to 60 foot…My office…the weather office was on the 07 level…the highest manned space on the ship and even though orders had been passed that no one was allowed “topside”…I went out in the storm and strong winds to the forward part of the island structure and held on for dear life as the ship rolled 35 degrees and watched the waves crashing over our bow…it was just like I had imagined it would be when I was a child…and I loved it…and I finally felt like a real “sailor.”

Climate change is an urgent crisis for the country and the world.  What action will you take in your first 100 days and beyond?

One of the best things I've come across because it's free, is investing in solar with solar leasing. You pay zero costs and reduce your energy bill, which is locked in and doesn't go up. All of your energy expenses then become clean. . . Another tip is going vegan. . . Also free, and after you learn how to eat good vegan food, you feel good all the time and reduce emissions majority, even more so than going Solar. Cheers and congrats on becoming the change.
