What should I write on the inside of a gift book to a friend?

There are several possibilities:For a special occasion like a birthday or graduation - a simple congratulations and the occasion for the book with an added reason like - “I found these words very enlightening for me.”For a solemn occasion a book of poetry or a biography about someone who was like the person lost to a disease or sudden illness, or an accident.A simple “thinking about you” or “This seemed like something you would like” as well as “No reason other than it made me remember you.”Simple “I know you are interested in WWII and the deep impact all of the components made on people and this book looks at that.”Or even, “From a friend who loves you…”

What was the first book written with a typewriter?

I believe you can't write a book with a typewriter. Before the invention of the printing press, all books were written by hand. Thats why they were rare and expensive.

although not known for certain, it's rumored that it was The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain.

A Birthday Surprise four my 14 year old girlfriend? Ideas?

if u can sing, SING HER A SONG during lunch infront of everybody. a song that was handwritten by u.

if u can borrow the PA of ur school for a while, announce to the school her birthday and say like 'i love u ' yada yada yada... (make it real longgg)

before class starts, get a bouquet of roses and present them to her, in front of everyone.

u can join the ideas into one so it'll make that day memorable...

What are some inexpensive and romantic gift ideas?

Totally agree with Will Wister, what makes a gift more romantic is not the amount of money spent on it, but time spent in making one or carefully selecting one.On the top of my head, I can think of the following optionsYou could maker her a card (using and A4 paper, crayons etc)Go crazy and draw whatever you feel like. Draw that big red heart that you always wanted to, or even two stick figures depicting people holding hands :)Whats better than making a card? Making multiple cards :)Whenever you are out with her, keep slipping a new card every hour, no matter how small it is.Go through her wish list on amazon or any other site, she might just be looking for a phone cover. You can personalize it or write a small message on the back of the cover that reminds her of you.If possible bake her a cake, or cook anything that she might like.Dig through all your albums to find out the photos of both of you together. Make a collage. A quick googling should give you a lot of online s/w to help you with it.You will be surprised, but simple giving a rose works as well :)Write a poem. Yeah, you might suck at it, but you aren't writing it for winning a competition anyway.Buy her a soft toy if she likes it. The ones depicting movie characters from the latest movies would work well because chances of her having one already would drastically reduce.Rent some classic romantic movie like  Serendipity or A walk to remember (plenty of good options available) and watch it together.Sing a romantic song for her, you may not the most awesome voice, but trust me, its the sentiments that matter in the end anyway :)You can always mix and match the above to get the best results ;)
