Help Working On Push-ups For School

Im 14 and can't do one push up. Im fat and i go to school daily with homework and such. Any hints to help me l

Hey buddy,

For one, you could work on your weight loss. Finding a professional trainer to tailor suit you an exercise program would be best. As for now, I advise you to do plenty of walking if jogging is too difficult for you. Walking burns calories, so walk anytime you get a chance! Just keep walking!

For two, if you want to do some push ups, then lets start easy. Get into a push up position, with your arms extended, and hold it for 30 seconds. Don't do the actual push up, just hold yourself up for 30 seconds. Rest, and then do another 30 seconds. When you are ready to increase the difficulty, lower yourself slightly and hold for 30 seconds. This will ease you into doing complete push ups, as it helps you to strengthen your upper body.

Good luck, and take care of yourself.

If i do 100 push-ups before i go to school will i look bigger wen im there?

Doing 100 push ups before school will eventually muscle you up if you do them daily.no you wont look weaker but you could feel a little weak if you don't eat and do all that exercise

Why are my arms shaking after i do 25 push UPS?

you need to do all your pushups at one time during the day in 3 sets. dont do them throughout the day, your just warming up your muscles each time. only rest 1-2 minutes between sets. your arms are shakeing because your triceps arent strong enough to support your weight. try moving your hands closer togather for a while, then switch to a wide setup. it takes time and dedication to build muscles but pushups and situps are a good start. thats how i got started my senior year in highschool and its amazing what just those 2 exercises can do to your body. i got addicted

What muscles am I not working out with the following exercises: planks, push-ups, chin-ups, squats, running, and stretches that help the lower back get stronger (foundation training on YouTube)?

Sounds like you got em all, since the pushups incorporate triceps, as well as pecs of coarse. And if those chin-ups are with an underhand or even neutral grip—palms facing inward--youre using your biceps. Which is a muscle group you didn't list a dedicated exercise for.Still, I would suggest you add some curls to your regimen in order to work them a bit more.I am tempted to also suggest some triceps presses, dips, or extensions as, well. But the use of them as the secondary muscle group in those pushups is probably sufficient. I dont consider that muscle as important as the biceps. And big biceps look better.Other than that, pretty good workout, amigo! I like that it's Old School. More folks need to get back to that way of exercise I think...And its cool you're doing body weight exercises, which are often times superior to using strength machines for obtaining what we call Functional Fitness.Oh, you might an old school body weight exercise for legs. Like some deep squats. Or even lunges.Cheers.

Why do I feel so anxious before I go at school every morning?

Hey there.

I'm 17 year old male, currently in the 11th grade/ Form IV at my school. Anyway, I have a problem. Every morning, when I wake up, I get this nervous, anxious feeling and a sort of pain in my stomach.

This began late last year because we were cramming so much work in, in a relatively short amount of time as the exams approached (that is because of the FIFA World Cup. We had extended holidays). Yet, I assumed that after the December holidays the anxiety would stop because I was more relaxed. However, it has started again (started school on Wednesday).
It gets so bad that I can barely eat my breakfast (which is normally muesli with plain yogurt and fruit juice), thus forcing me to eat either peanut butter on toast or a sugary cereal (which I dread doing, because I am trying to lose weight).

So I really do not know what is wrong. But it gets really bad on the day that we have Physical Education. I get so nervous because I am overweight, and I really dislike having to swim because I get nauseous and weak afterwards (when we are doing time trails). I also cannot do any pull-ups, and I can do very few push-ups or sit-ups. I don't mind so much if we are playing soccer, touch rugby or cross-country, it's just those few things I really loath.
I always feel that people are judging me, and there is this one person currently in my class who used to tease me during my second year in high school, but I ignore him because he really is unintelligent (though he appears to have grown up a bit this year).

I guess my problem does extend because I am ashamed of my body, because I really am fat (I have a large stomach). I used to be an emotional eater, but I have managed to gain control. Whenever I feel sad or angry, I just do something like read or write [my novel] or even go take a swim outside in my pool. I try to avoid the kitchen as much as possible unless I am really hungry.
There are other personal and family-related issues that I have, but I doubt it has anything to do with the current situation (unless it is the stress I gain from it, but I don't know).

What can I do to rectify the problem? This anxiety is driving me insane and I am afraid that it may get worse.

Thank you for your help.

Are push-ups bad for a 15-year-old boy?

Push ups are GREAT for a 15 year old boy. The thing about push ups, if done correctly, is that it is hard to hurt your shoulders. Damaging your shoulders doing bench press is all too easy. The push up position stabilizes the shoulder girdle in a way that bench press does not. Another cool thing about push ups is, if done correctly, is they, unlike bench, build core strength. Now don't go all hog wild and start doing a million push ups a day. You can still injure yourself by doing them wrong or doing too many. Learn to do them with good form. When your form breaks down, you are done with that set. Go do some pull ups and then come back for another round of push ups. Push ups getting too easy? Bring your feet together. Still too easy? Raise the level of your feet in a box or bench? Two more things. Don't just pump them out. Go down slowly and come up faster. Finally, and this is true with any exercise, if something hurts (like someone is sticking you with a pencil) STOP and think.  P.S. Get into pull ups, too. The combination will get you tough.

Can push ups really enlarge your chest?

I completely agree with Bart’s answer. I just want to share my personal experiences. If you already have a developed chest, doing lots of push-ups won’t help much. However, they can contribute to significant chest growth if you haven’t really trained chest before.Doing thousands of push-ups can get you a “nice” chest, but not a gigantic chest. Here is a picture of me before I started exercising seriously:And here is a picture after I started doing 300–400 push-ups 5 days a week for 10 months:I would go to the gym here and there to test my bench press max, but have never deliberately trained the bench press or any other weights or machines. In addition to developing a larger chest, my bench press max increased from around 170 pounds to 235 pounds. For those who are relatively new to working out, push-ups (when done correctly) are highly underrated.Of course there are risks to doing this many push-ups almost every day such as tendinitis and cartilage degradation. So if you choose to do extremely repetitive exercise regimes like this, listen to your body and take a break if there is any pain outside routine muscle soreness.

How do i stop my friend from pushing himself too hard?

I have a friend who loves working out and exercise. But today after school I found him doing push ups next to the vending machine. He wasn't even doing them right and he couldn't do more than two in a row. He said he rammed the vending machine and his coach told him to do push ups. When I asked how long he'd been doing them, he told me since the others went out to do their warm up Just the other day I watched them do them and I was there for like 35 or 40 minutes. I told him he was doing this for way too long but he said "Coach told me to, so I'm gonna do it." I watched him for like 5 more minutes then his coach and the others came back inside. The coach completely forgot he told my friend to do all those push ups, then the coach and other others including my friend went into the weight room and started working out for another 30 or 40 minutes. This isn't even a sports team thing, its just the weight room! Its ridiculous that he has to do something like that, so how can I get my friend to understand that hes pushing himself way too hard?
