I need to know some stuff about lip piercings..?
I only had mine in for a week. I have a baby and he kept on bumping into it. 1) It didn't hurt when I got it pierced. I got a bar, easier to cover. But I kept on biting on it. They give you larger ones for the swelling. 2) It gets infected easier because of food and the fact that the ring/bar always moves...whether you smile, talk, eat...blah 3) Of course you can drink alcohol. When you get it pierced the first couple of days you can't eat spicy/crunchy foods. It hurts...And they have you rinse your mouth out with Listerine--mouthwash, that's alcohol anyways. 4) Shouldn't matter with the ocean. Not pool water though, too many germs--even though there is chlorine--it's still bad. Salt water whould help the healing, you can gargle (sp?) with salt water if mouthwash is too strong. 5) Biting on the bar sucked while eating, I'm sure a ring would be no different. You may not bite on it as much as a bar, but it will still get in the way. 6) If you do plan to do it, use a ring. The only reason I chose a bar is that I could cover it with a band-aid, without taking it out. If it needed to be covered. From experience, I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money. I wish I would have saved for a tattoo that I've been wanting to get or I wish I would have gotten my nose pierced. But if you do plan on getting one. If hiding it is not an issue, get a ring. And if biting the ring is an issue, buy a smaller one. Even though they do tell you to wait 6-8 weeks. I think if I would have gotten a smaller bar I would have kept the piercing longer. ----Also, I know I wanted to get the piercing as close to my lip as possible, so I was thinking about a surface piercing. It's like an eyebrow piercing, the end doesn't go into the mouth, It looks like 2 piercings....Its like a horizontal eyebrow piercing....I was thinking about it because I wouldn't have to worry about this metal thing getting in the way. But anyways don't get that, they scar really bad. Your skin tries to push the bar out and it ends up scarring. ----Just in case that becomes an issue. ~Good Luck~ Obviously that Vision chick has never gotten her lip pierced...She shouldn't be giving advice.
Lip piercing. i can't eat.?
The reason you don't remember your tongue ring giving you nearly much trouble, even though it more than likely did, is because you got used to it. Don't worry, before you know it, you'll adjust to this one. I know this is going to sound funny, but I got so sick of ice cream, soup, & apple sauce & just wanted "real food". So I got real food, let it cool to room temp, & cut it into tiny pices. Like minute pieces. I am getting a monroe done soon & I have my tongue done for almost a year now. Best of luck!
Need some info on getting your lip pierced (side labret) ?
Piercings don't hurt. It is like someone pinching you and then it's over. If you take good care of it after the swelling you shouldn't experience any discomfort. If they try to sell you some kind of cleaning product, you're better off with just sea salt and warm water. They might try to squeeze more money out of you. So just go to the store and get a bag of sea salt. It's cheaper. My piercer gives me sea salt but there are places that try to make you buy this fancy dragon purifying B.S... It should be done healing in a week or 2 because it's an oral piercing and your mouth is the fastest healing part of your body. I guess if I had to rate the pain, compared to the rest of the piercings I have had, it would be about a 3.5.. The lowest would be tongue, I'd rate a 1 and the highest would be a 8 when I got my nape.. Just cause it was a little deep. haha. Gooood luck and take good care of your new hole!
Getting my lip pierced ... any advice?
Does it hurt? I actually found my lip piercing to be one of the least painful piercings I've gotten. I hardly felt it at all (but everyone is different). Expect some pain, it is a piercing. But it is by far, one of the least painful in my opinion. Does it scar badly? I pierced one myself, and got 2 professionally. Unfortunatley both DID scar. It looks like I have a piercing hole in my lip, but if I try to put a ring, it is closed in. Some things you can do to help REDUCE scarring, is (first) get it professionally done (which you are, good job). Also, I felt that if I had massaged my hole a bit more afterwards it would have made a difference (I have a little bubble of scar tissue on the inside). You cant do TOO much to avoid scarring, but I personally will be rubbing my empty piercing hole in attempts to try and reduce this. Stud or Ring- I had rings, I preffered rings and found that there was less chance of skin to grow over, and much easier to clean, etc. Also, I live in a very cold area, so it got chapped and gross and when you have a ring on its harder to moisturize, but if that is not a concern, then I suggest ring. Clean- if you dont get a solution from the piercing place, you NEED to clean it with UNIODIZED SEA SALT, and DISTILLED WATER, until the point where it tastes like tears. No more, no less. And you will have crusties, but that is normal. Its important to clean a few times every day. Good luck! =) I love my lip ring, and I hope you will like yours too. Dont be too scared, its not bad at all, and SO worth it.
Lip/stud piercing?
If you are going to be ordering a quality stud that is long enough to accomodate your swelling and can be autoclaved, a piercer will probably put it in for you. You would have to order it since none of the studs sold in the mall and various stores are intended for initial piercings. They are all too short. A stud that is too short is a serious danger to your health and your piercing, not to mention it will hurt like hell. On the bright side your piercer will likely be willing to change your jewlery for you in a couple of weeks once your swelling has gone down and then you can wear the stud of your choosing, provided its long enough for your lip. My advice is to wait until you are done swelling and see what length of bar you will need. The piercing itself is a sharp pinch accompanied by the unusual sensation of a needle passing through your lip. The swelling and soreness afterwards werent a party, but they weren't earth shatteringly miserable. Piercings in the midwest range from 40-60 dollars. To find out how old you have to be in California, call a reputable shop and ask them. They'll be able to give you an expert answer, not something they heard once from a friends cousin or some junk.
Aftercare information on lip piercing (side labret) ?
First you have to get your blood sugar up! A lot of people faint/pass out from the sudden rush of adrenaline, and their blood sugar drops. The sudden drop causes dizziness. So drink a coke, and have a candy bar. Then be as nervous as possible. The adrenaline gets your body ready for a lot of pain. And when you are pierced, it actually hurts less. :) You can ask the piercer if he has any numbing gel, but if not, then don't worry about it. Its going to be over as soon as you know it. Its going to be a quick pinch, and then you're good to go. After care, you want to go buy some Listerine, and keep it with you. Every time you eat, or drink a sugary food, you want to rinse your mouth out with it really good. Your mouth contains a ton of bacteria, and you do not want your lip exposed to too much. You can suck on some ice when you first get it pierced to help cope with swelling. And other then that, you should be fine. :)
What can I eat while my lip piercing is healing?
A few hours after I had my lip pierced, I ate steak and chips, it just took a little bit longer to eat. So it just depends on what you can handle really. Though alcohol and spicy food isn't really recommended. Labret bars are generally better than CBRs for healing and try not to play with the piercings too much. Ibuprofen and ice will help swelling go down. Aftercare - Lip - Sea salt soaks. 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt to a mug of boiling water. Wait for it to cool down enough (so it doesn't burn you) and then dip a cotton bud in the solution and wipe around the piercing to loosen the crusties, Once or twice a day. Tongue - Alcohol free mouthwash. Once or twice a day. Though for all my piercings, I generally just left them alone and soaked them whenever there was crusties around the bar.
Should I get my lip pierced?
Okay, here's the thing. I'm a 14 year old girl and I'm trying to decide on whether or not to get my lip pierced. (please do not automatically say no because of my age, I think I am old enough to get it, and 14/15 isn't a bad age to get it) Both parents agreed to letting my get my lip pierced and now about a week later they seem to be having some second thoughts and doubts about me getting it. Even though I am 14 I am responsible and mature for my age which is why my parents are letting me get it-for my 15th Bday. the only thing is My Bday is in August, and I'm afraid by that time they will have said no. so i asked them to get it this weekend even though my Bday is about a month away. I am a Christian so I don't know if that may be the reason why they don't want me to get it at all. I'm NOT getting the piercing because i think it looks "cool" or to be like anyone else, I've ALWAYS wanted my lower lip pierced because I think it would be a good way to express myself. Everyone I told this to thinks it's a horrible idea; they say it will "leave a scar no matter how big or small, leave a bad impression on you whether its the 1st time or 100th time, you won't get a job, it looks Ghetto and not christian like" and I'm almost sure my parents don't want me to get it now because their afraid of what people will say about me and my parents for letting me get it-especially @ church. But I really want it I don't care what people have to say about it, I've always wanted one and now that I have their permission I want to jump right into it and get it before my parents change their minds. so what do you think? Should I get it or not?
Why can't I smoke cigarettes after my tongue piercing?
I think Chris Price has the right answer, but two things to note:If it’s the same as for a molar tooth-pull, the main problem time seems to be in the first 24 hours, with most of the rest of the problem being withing the 24 after that. After 48 hours (at least for yanked teeth) most of the excess problems from sucking on sodas through straws or smoking cigarettes seems to be gone.It seems to make a lot of sense to me that after any sort of severe mouth injury (which is how your body interprets a tongue piercing or tooth pulling) it makes sense not to smoke for a bit. I like smoking. I’ve smoked for close to 50 years. I regularly and thoroughly trash the lies used by Antismokers to intimidate smokers into quitting or to promote smoking bans. BUT… I’ll happily admit that smoke, whether from cigs, pot, or pleasantly burning pine logs in the fireplace, has a lot of chemicals in it and that some of those chemicals could easily interfere with the best rate of wound healing.Sooooo…. I’d strongly recommend not smoking for the first 24 hours after your “injury” and then smoking very gently, if at all, during the next 24 hours.MJM, neither a doctor NOR a dentist btw…
Should I get my nose pierced?
Hi, Hannah. Thanks for the A2A! I can give you some info and answer your questions since I have a nose piercing and am debating either getting a double nose piercing or doing the other nostril.Does it hurt more than your ear lobe or getting eyebrows waxed?Yes, unfortunately it does hurt worse than getting your ear lobe pierced. I can't speak for eyebrow waxing because I've never had my brows waxed before…but I'd like to sometime. I'll run through the pain scale for me with my piercings…Ear lobe…1/10Lip…4/10Tongue…1.5/10Tragus…4/10Helix…3/10Navel…2/10Septum…4/10Industrial…8/10Nostril…3/10As far as the pain…it's not that bad, really. It's a quick pain that lasts maybe 15–20 seconds and it's done. The piercing just feels like a hard pinch. The jewelry insertion is worse which is a burning sensation, but…it's not bad either.Would I look good with a nose stud?Yes, I think you would look good with a nose stud :).Should I get it and put in a see through one during my lessons at school (or take it out for an hour)? This is a tough one since I'm not sure what kind of lessons you are referring to. I'd go by the school's dress code as far as piercings goes. My old high school allowed piercings (which is when I got mine done). The all girls school I go to now, doesn't allow me to wear my body jewelry. So I have to either take my nose ring out or wear a retainer (which is what I do. My piercing is fully healed though). If I were you, I'd get pierced during the summer break from school. That way…your piercing will be healed to the point that you can wear a see through stud in your piercing since I don't think you can get pierced with a clear stud or leaving your jewelry out which means your piercing can close on you.
