What do people have against catholics?
this is a serious question. i am a 14 yr old roman catholic and i want to know why people are picking on my religion,calling it the anti-christ, etc. Please explain what you or others have against in w/o totally insulting my beliefs, or getting into the priests molesting children, unless thats ur only problem, in which case u shouldn't even answer if it is.
Does anyone think Catholics are too preachy?
I understand how you feel. I am a Muslim and I have many friends who are Catholics and as far as I am concern, they are nice people as here in Malaysia on the whole scenario we always respect each other believe be them anything. None of them claim Catholicism is the ultimate religion to follow. We have discussed even about Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammad - some of them even told me that Jesus is just a Prophet and he is not the son of God. They told me, how could a human being be the son of God. Well with this confession I don't think that they are such people. It is not the religions or the races normally separated human being - just human themselves. I do not believe any religions teaches their followers to be nasty to another fellow human being. I am not trying to influence anyone about how they feel about one another - about their believes, only to share what I think, if we really follow religion/s moderately - we might be able to live peacefully among us. I have no great care or passion over human in general as I perceive human in a group they are just another howling mobs, not only being nasty, they kill each other, but I do believe on individual capacity human evolve into a better being. Best of luck and I really hope people follow the middle path and save each other before it is to late.
If you talk about a crime in Catholic confession, can the priest report it to the police?
While all the answers are correct, a Priest can not break their oath and discuss anything with anyone including to the Authorities anything that was confessed to him. Although over the years that has been some what controversial. My Grandmother’s brother was a Catholic Priest and for the most part he followed his oath to the letter, However, there was a situation where his humanity changed in that respect. There was a guy who had confessed to multiple murders of children and children still missing. The person who confessed to these crimes was a regular at the church and my Uncle was very torn up about this, he never said anything about the confession with the other Priests but he told me that he prayed out about and what he felt God wanted him to do was to make sure other children would be safe. My Uncle had a friend he went to school with on the Police force and privately told his friend of this confession, his friend kept where he got this information from and started a personal investigation on the man who confessed and as it turned out the man was arrested and convicted. That was the only time my Uncle said he went against is oath and the Church and all they way up to his death he never regretted what he did because he believed that there are circumstances when a Priest should not be bound to this oath. While most Priest would not do what my Uncle did there are some who will regardless of what consequences may befall them with the church.
Are Catholics elitist?
Those who brag about what they are, are elitists. Those who don't talk at all are the true elite.
Im 17, im catholic, im GAY, im scared,im ashamed, no one knows-what do i do?
my parents and relatives have clearly stated their opinions on gay people before and they're not good. as far as they're concerned, gay is wrong and it is a sin. i find myself every night, in confidence, crying myself to sleep because i know my parents prefer my younger brother(16) who is better than me at everything, is popular at school, (i am known as HIS brother), more than they ever would me. i ask myself, if god made everyone a certain way, why am i like this? Now, how could i ever come out to them now. I will only be a disgrace. I love them more than ANYTHING in the whole world. im scared, i feel lonely and am ashamed i am this way so much
What's ur opinion on practicing wicca?
I am a Wiccan, and have been interested in the Craft since I was a teenager. There is nothing wrong with learning Wicca- as you must know by now through your research. The best advice I can give you is the Witches' Pyramid: To know, To will, To dare, & TO KEEP SILENT While these principles mean different things to everybody (and will change as time goes by), I recommend exploring what these principles mean to YOU. In your case, I think To Keep Silent is something to emphasize. It is prudent to NOT tell your parents, because while you are still young and living under your parent's roof, you are subject to their will. You could tell them who you really are, and what your beliefs are, but they can (and most likely WILL) make your life a living hell. You'd be surprised at what parents can do to force you into a religion you don't believe in! (mine sent me away to Utah to be re-educated by a Mormon family I didn't know... it didn't work!) Since you are still young, I recommend learning as much as possible, check your sources, and experiment with things.
