I'm scared I might fail my permit test the first time I take the exam?

Hi. I am a 21 year old female who has yet to drive. I want to go get my permit in a few weeks because I have not got it yet. I took a sample test online and I failed with a 60%. I know the basic stuff like what a stop sign is, a sign for a gas station, red means stop, green means go, yellow means slow down, you cant turn left when the street has two yellow lines, you have to turn right if your in the middle of traffic and the light turns red from green, I've known this from being in the car with my dad driving. But seeing on a practice test, I got a 60%? I do not know what to do. I do not want to go inside the DMV, take the test, and fail my first time. I'm not good with studying. What should I do? How many weeks should I study? help? I live in New York City?

I take my new york permit test next week!!?

If it's the same like it was when I took the test, you have 20 multiple choice questions which are the basic rules and basically, common sense. There will always be a question regarding alcohol in term of amount of drinks.

The link below is PERFECT! It's the DMV Drivers Manual that is the "online" version of the book that you can pick up at the DMV office. They even have practice "quizzes" on each chapter. You can practice the test before you take it! Chapter 9 deals with alcohol

The test in itself took me no more than 5 minutes to complete.

Do I have to wait 6 months after passing my permit test to get my license of I'm turning 18 soon?

Im turning 18 in 4 months so i really want to get my license on my birthday and not six months from now. So is it possible to take the license test 4 months after getting my permit of I turn 18 first? It's kinda confusing but any help would be great. Thanks in advance :)

I am an international student in Canada. I have 20 hours work permit per week. What happens if I exceed 20 hours?

well……you know the saying “been there, done that”SO, in this case, lets say I knew a guy who did it. keep this between you and me, but he worked more than 20 hrs as a full time student. He took the risk because thats what he does. he does stupid things. He worked minimum 40 hrs/week.However, he did not get flagged or deported. In fact, it worked out just fine for him. Do not follow my advice “wink wink” ( seriously don’t !)If you really do need the money and extra hours, don’t do what he did. Theres are better ways, but you have to work your way around it.Do your 20 hours legally and use your immigrant mentality to figure the rest out.The word on the streets is that drug dealing is pretty profitable, but what do I know. I watch a lot of movies. His employer did ask him if he had any restrictions since other kids could only do 20 hours, and he straight up lied and said he’s a part time student so he can work more than 20 hrs. He continued taking the risk.If you do take the risk, make sure your designation is part time and not full time. clock in the extra hours accordingly. a couple of hours here and there don’t hurt.In the end, it all worked out for him. k’nahmsayin. Everyones situation is different, and we got to do what we got to do. Don’t blame other people for your actions if it back fires on you.Goodluck !!

What are your summer plans as a high school student?

Thanks for the A2A @Peter T MayerThis is my summer going into junior year, and let me tell you, it is hellish. I am taking 5 AP classes next semester, which means a guarantee of 5 summer assignments. My 6th class is band, and of course I'm hoping to get into one of the audition only classes, so if I do I'm sure there will be summer assignments.Speaking of band, I'm also in marching band and am joining jazz band. Yay summer rehearsal! We will be having rehearsal once a week for 5 hours I believe for marching band, and jazz band probably ever other week for 2 hours or so. Doesn't seem like much, and it's not until the last 2 weeks of summer, where we spend 6 days a week at school on 9am — 5pm, then 9am — 9pm rehearsals. Yes, marching band is crazy.Oh yeah, I'm also going to college! Because my school only offers 6 classes a year and I want to take band all 4 years, there's no way for me to get in my requirements. This means I have to take PE over the summer at my local college, because summer school doesn't have PE for high school. Now I have to pay money, yay me. So I'm taking a weight lifting and cardio class to fulfill that requirement.Okay, so we've got homework, band, and PE, what else… oh yeah!My dad and I are planning a 2 week road trip to Texas to visit family. We haven't seen them in 4 years or so, and I haven't seen much of the country, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Besides, I gotta get my 50 hours of driving in somehow right? And finally, if all that wasn't enough, I want to be a surgeon. My mother isn't sure I'm going to be able to handle the blood and gore of it, though, so I will be interning at my local hospital over the summer, well, actually until I go to college. Might as well get my civics points done, right?Other than all that, I will be spending time with my dog and boyfriend. Unfortunately, though, my boyfriend lives in Florida, so we can't see each other, but we will definitely be video chatting a ton over the summer and playing World of Warcraft together. Horde for the win!I didn't realize quite how much I'm doing over the summer until I wrote this out… wow. I really don't have a life. Here's a picture of my dog, just to satisfy all the dog lovers out there. And because everyone always asks, she is a Husky German Shepherd mix we rescued from the pound. She also lost her tail in a car accident in case you were wondering why she has a nub.

G2 road test route in Kitchener, Ontario?

It's been a long time since I took my G2 road test back there in Kitchener. So, I couldn't tell you specifically what route they'll take you on at this point in time. Some of that may be up to the examiner's discretion too.

I would definitely prepare for a mixture of expressway and regular city driving. If I recall my G2 test was up to 45 minutes long too. You're likely going to have to perform emergency maneuvers (pull over, put hazards on, etc.) and do some parallel parking also.

Be confident but don't be overly aggressive. Try to take an automatic transmission vehicle if at all possible. Don't forget little things like checking your blind spots, etc.

The good news is that times have changed since I took that test 12+ years ago. There was an 80% failure rate on the G2 road test when I went through (total money grab and it was ridiculously obvious). I think that by now things have settled down and you'll be just fine. Stay focused, calm and alert. You'll be alright. Good luck!

EDIT: When I went through it was like $80 for that test and if you failed you had to pay another $80 for every additional test. You can see why they failed so many people then - especially when the graduated licensing program was so new back in the 90s.

If that is still the case ($80/shot) it might be worth it to go to a driving school and ask them for an hour or two of instruction (they will tell you EXACTLY what to expect on the G2 road test) and trust me... that's easily worth $50 or whatever they charge these days. The G2 road test is a detailed road test and so you do want to be prepared. A whole lot different then the first road test you took.

++
Sorry for more editing. I just want to make sure this is your G2 EXIT road test - to get your G license? That would be your 2nd road test. The above would apply in that case. If this is your 1st road test then it's just a basic 15-minute driving in the city kind of test. Not near as intense.
