High School Majorette

Can I still become a Majorette?

that is not any longer too previous due! i began twirling in seventh grade. many human beings start up very youthful, yet once you're committed you probably can be great. It takes loads of prepare and a great sort of selection. you will get a great sort of bruises and get hit interior the top. (It does not injury as undesirable as you ought to think of) training can get particularly costly. it actual relies upon on the place you go, and studios could be frustrating to advantageous. you will decide in case you like twirling with different human beings particularly rapidly. for my section, i like going solo =] good good fortune! don't be scared to attempt something new, it ought to develop into your widespread trick!

What is a majorette????

They are a visual part of the band along with color guard and/or dance line. The majorette's twirl batons and march in the drill to the song the band plays. They do not have to have at least ten because my high school band has 2. there are even some bands who only have one and they are the "feature twirler"

Do you think majorettes are....?

no.
some of my friends are majorettes, and they're far from sluts.
its just like any other sport, so i don't know why they would be?
it's just a stereotype.

edit: girl above me, yes it is used in the US, that's all i have been heard them called as. what else is there?

Thanks so much! :)

Majorettes, is the hip-hop more modern style of drill team. we have drill, but its so boring. People laugh when they perform..i want to make something NEW!

How to become a Majorette Info?

I'm not a majorette but I am on the marching band's colorguard (we spin flags, rifles, sabres).
It's not too late to start - I didn't join the guard until the summer before my sophomore year!
Twirling isn't easy but it's worth it. The more you practice, the better you'll get at it. Just don't get discouraged.
It's hard to tell how much lessons will cost. It depends on the instructor, the time, & where at in your area.
Typically, unless you're doing something like rhythmic gymnastics, you'll be on a squad.
Hope I helped & good luck!*

And, yes, you should buy dance shoes for it!

What do I need to know to become a majorette?

I'm a freshman in high school and I'm in marching band. Next year, we'll only have one majorette, so I thought that it would be something I could try. I have never taken baton lessons and I don't have time to get a teacher, so I'm trying to research ways I could work on this on my own. I'm already pretty athletic (I play volleyball and I run), but I would like to know if there's anything that I should know, or video clips I could learn from. Also, if there are any exercises I could do to increase my flexibility, that would be great.

P.S. - I have no clue what kind of baton to use or where to get it. Any info would be great! Thanks!

I really want to be a majorette in college?

By majorette, I'm assuming you mean baton twirler. Most girls who are the feature twirler or on the twirling team at a university have been twirling for years and years. If you start working now, you might be able to become a twirler at a school that doesn't have a twirler or a twirling team. I don't mean to put you down, but if you plan on going to a college with a long history of twirlers (Penn State or Purdue, for example) you probably won't be able to make it on the twirling team or as a solo twirler. You could still do recreational twirling, though. If you really want to pursue twirling, buy a twirling baton from Sharp or American Baton Company (I prefer ABC) and look up some tutorial videos on YouTube. If you do find videos, be sure to stay away from the Expert Village twirling videos.

May I ask where you want to attend college?

Reality Vs. Movie And Television: High SchoolAfter watching numerous shows and movies set in high schools, I noticed a few differences. High school in real life is not the same as in movies or T.V. shows. In every movie or show, they portray high school the same way. Although high school is great, it is definitely not as glamourous as hollywood makes it out to be. Here's a few things about high school that you'll most likely only find on T.V. and in movies.1. They Never Seem To Be In ClassIn movies and T.V. shows, when you see the characters in school, they never actually seem to be doing work. They're either in the hallways, cafeteria, the gym, etc. but never actually in class learning.2. Cafeteria FoodAlthough school food might not be too good even in real life, it definitely is not as bad as T.V. and movies make it out to be. No, we aren't actually served some strange colored slop and questionable meat. And no, the lunch ladies aren't evil (well mostly).3. Passing TimeWhen our favorite high school characters are not in class (aka a majority of the time) they seem to have a massive amount of free time in between classes. At my high school we had six minutes to get from one class to another, sometimes barely making it. But, on T.V. and in movies, these students seem to have an infinite amount of time in between their classes. They're strolling around, sitting on the stairs and having full on conversations like they have no place to be.4. Gym ClassIn my high school gym class consisted of an excessive amount of time changing into and from our gym clothes and a short amount of time spent playing sports. On T.V. and in movies gym uniforms are a thing and 99% of the time they're seen playing dodge ball. Also, what is with the whole climbing the rope thing in gym?5. Randomly Breaking Out Into Song/DanceNo high school is not anything like it is in High School Musical (although that would be totally awesome). In my 4 years of high school, not once did anyone break out into a song or dance number. And how does everyone seem to know all the words and choreography to this supposedly "random" number.6. AgeA majority of everyone in high school looks like they belong in high school. None of us are 25 year olds secretly playing 17 year olds.7. Food FightsAlmost always, on T.V. and in movies there is a massive food fight. If you even lift a chicken nugget over your head, someone will stop you before you even got a chance to throw it.
