Are rabbits halal?

The Holy Quraan defines that it is 'Halaal', or permissible, if an animal or poultry has been slaughtered in a ritual way known as Zibah.
The Quraan gives following underlined injunctions in Chapter al-Maida 5:3 that :
"Zibah require animals, or birds, to be alive and healthy at the time of slaughter, since carrion [dead flesh] is forbidden. The jugular vein, carotid artery and windpipe have to be severed by a razor sharp knife by a single swipe, so that it incurs as little pain as possible.
A Muslim should recite the 'tasmiya' or 'shahada', which fulfils the requirement of dedication.
If a knowledgeable Muslim is not available, the butcher is commanded to commence his deed taking the name of Allah.
All the flowing blood (al- An`am 6:145) must be drained out of the carcass, as blood is forbidden.
Forbidden is an animal that has been killed by strangling or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall.
Swine flesh [pork] is also forbidden..."
...So, if a live and physically unhurt and healthy rabbit is slaughtered in the approved way, its flesh will be deemed as 'Halaal'.
