Honda Accord Jerks Forward A Bit When Accelerating

Car's accelerator pad sticky (only for the first little bit of acceleration)--how can I fix it?

My 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 runs really well, but to me (everyone else I talk to says nothing is wrong) the accelerator is a little bit sticky (only for the first part). What I mean is it puts up a very light resistance when initially pressed upon (once I press down further the accelerator feels smooth), and to overcome that the resistance I have to press a little harder. The accelerator then gives way suddenly, and results in the car suddenly jerking forward and being uncomfortable to ride. How can I fix this?

I went to a mechanic, but even he said there is really nothing wrong. I'm not being overly paranoid, as I've tried driving other cars and they're much smoother at the initial press. I just want to know what might be wrong so that I can tell the mechanic to check that particular part and get it fixed.

I appreciate your time!

Why does car jerks after accelerating past 3000 rpm?

how big of a jerk is it? if its not that big it might be your car shifting and the transmission is just getting old so you're noticing it more

Honda accord jerks forward a bit when accelerating?

I have 2000 Honda Accord with 140k miles, the car has been regularly maintained and serviced. I had this problem recently where it would jerk forward sometimes not always when I hit the gas pedal. It happens only for few seconds and then it goes fine. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong?

Car hesitates when accelerating and backs up before going forward.?

It's an old car, 2001 Isuzu SUV. I don't know much about cars, but what I can explain is that when I come to a stop and step on the gas petal, the car sometimes backs up before it goes forward! It scares me because sometimes cars like to pull up really close. Before going forward, the car jerks and shakes like crazy, scaring me and probably people behind me. I'm not sure if this means it's time to give up on the car or if I can get it fix. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

Why does my car jerk slightly when shifting into reverse?

all automatics do this. Regardless of gear the magnitude, the jerk is a function of drivetrain and suspension slop, clutch pressure and condition, clutch engagement setting, transmission fluid properties, idle speed. If the jerk is extreme and changes engine RPM by more than 100RPM, you certainly have a problem. beware, it’s easy to get either ripped off or spend heavily. Start by checking idle speed, then inspecting/changing fluid, then inspecting suspension. then check the transmission and drivetrain for slop, wear, damage, starting at a driveshaft shop.Your low mileage car could suffer from the hands of an abusive and jerky driver, a driver who spent long hours shearing transmission fluid stopped in traffic, or a transmission defect.Without mechanical service, you can reduce the jerk by not stepping on the brake as you change gears, and shifting to neutral every time you must idle for more than 20 seconds.

What causes my car to jerk when shifting gears?

Typically when you have harsh engagements and harsh shifts, it's because the line pressure is elevated. This can be caused by the transmission being put into a fail-safe mode due to a code. You should have the vehicle scanned for codes first, keeping in mind that just because the check engine light is not on, ( or is it ? ) doesn't mean there are no codes. I would start there first. Take it to a different transmission shop for another opinion !!

I have a problem in my 98 Honda accord?

98 Honda Accord LX, 4cyl, 4 door, automatic

my car jerks when it reaches 3 x1000rpm and when i change gear from park to reverse or drive to reverse.

so far i have changed:
two solenoids on transmission
spark plugs
those wires on engine and everything that goes with it
both front and rear motor mount

and like i said, still jerks

there is check engine light and there is only one code, which is catalytic converter replacement

i spoke to honda mechanic and he said to replace entire transmission, he did not explain anything else.

i am thinking about changing throttle position sensor, timing belt, and water pump

what could be the problem? Please serious answers only

thank you

Is a car jerking when shifting gears normal?

Well… It’s “normal” , if you don’t understand exactly what happens when you shift gears in a a manual transmission, as compared to an automatic. In an automatic transmission, there’s a thing called a “torque converter”, which is basically a fluid coupling between the engine and the transmission. It “cushions” the engine’s output from the transmission… Well there’s more to it than that, but that will do for the knowledge we need here.In a stick shift transmission, there is an absolute direct connection between the engine and the transmission, which is directly connected to the wheels. For example, at 40 KPH, you could be at 4,000 RPM in first gear, you could be at 2,350 RPM in second, or, you could be at 1,325 RPM in third gear. If you were in third gear, at 1,325 RPM, in third gear, and you put the clutch in and reved the engine to 2,350 RPM, put the shifter into second gear and let the clutch out… You know what’d you feel? Nothing!! the engine would be turning at the exact RPM required to go at that road speed in that gear!!When you get a jerk when you shift gears in a manual transmission, it’s because you let the clutch out when the engine RPM didn’t match the necessary RPM for the gear you were going to, based on your road speed. To practice.. Go down the road at 50 KPH.. in second gear.. go down the road in third gear at 50 KPH.. check the revs.. now push the clutch in and pick up the revs to where they were when you were in second gear.. now let the clutch out and notice how little “jerk” there is.To drill down into this a little bit further, .. Shifting up through the gears is also a matter of timing.. As you put the clutch in, and shift to the next gear, the “ synchros” ( the bits inside the transmission that stop the gears from grinding) , will let the gears engage before the engine RPM for the next gear have actually matched up. You need to let the engine RPM naturally drop, before you let the clutch our.. Just because the shifter went into the next gear, doesn’t mean that the revs are matched..Google “heel and toe shifting”

Can a loose battery cable make your car jerk while driving and act like it's not getting gas?

When the car is in good working order and running, the alternator supplies all the load, including charging the battery. If the battery cable is loose, the battery may not charge. The rough running is due to a different problem.

What are some things to replace when a car hesitates at low rpms?

First off figure out and diagnose why its doing that, or else you wont have a clue what it is or else youre going to just be throwing parts at it and money down the drain by just simply guessing. From my experience its not one cut and dry answer It could be lots of things. Most likely if it has a carburetor the carburetor needs an adjustment, or spark plugs are old and worn out, air filter is possibly worn out and clogged with debris so its restricting the airflow. Oxygen sensor is a possibility. Or it could be a fuel filter/injector clogged/ fuel pump blocking proper fuel flow. The catalytic converter or exhaust could be clogged up with carbon deposits, but i doubt that. Lastly if its really high mileage like 200,000–400,000 miles and it could just simply be old and worn out and the piston rings arent sealing very well, so its low on compression which will make most engines low on power but thats pretty unlikely especially if youve taken good care of it, done oil changes on time and its maintained. All these items are consumables, they are regular car maintenance repairs. Its amazing how much better a car will run when you replace all those things and wear out over time. Take it to a reputable ase certified mechanic or if the car is under warranty go to the dealer. Or if you got a buddy thats good with cars take it to him. The good news is its usually something simple, and all those things arent hard to fix unless its the fuel filter/fuel pump. tell me how it goes. Good luck dude!
