Horse Racing Question

3 Horse racing question?

1 & 2. You can get basic info at:
http://pathway.ustrotting.com/search/ind...
Just put in her brand. More detail reports cost money.

Here's the info pathways pulled up.

I pulled a little more info on the free reports since I have an account. She's a trotter and they list her with 0 earnings. Her last start was on 07/09/2010 at Saratoga it looks like so she hasn't been retired long? Since the horse was bred in Canada it is possible that the Canadian Harness Association could have more info. I generally don't find their site as useful as the USTA.

3. Pic 1 has blinkers or blinders by the eyes and a face mask. The blinkers prevent a horse from seeing back. This can help a horse race for several reasons. Some horses get nervous when they see horses coming up along side of them. It prevents them from being distracted though I think some horses race better with blinders because all they can hear are horses running and they can't see behind to find out what is chasing them. Some horses are actually more nervous when they can't see back. The fabric on the face helps keep the blinders in place. There is usually so much gear on a STB that the blinders can fit onto the bridle. Some people put the fabric face masks on horses that are sensitive to dirt being kicked up into their face.

Picture 2 the horse on the rail has a shadow roll. This prevents him from seeing shadows moving on the ground. Sometimes horses can be distracted or scared by shadows or other things on the ground. This helps prevent it.

Picture 3 is another set of blinkers or blinders. The cups on this mask are much bigger then the one in Picture 1. The blinders in picture 1 prevent the horse from seeing back. These blinders are going to prevent the horse from seeing behind them and prevent them from seeing what is beside them. This horse can basically just see forward.

Question about horse racing?

The B means bay, the G means that the horse is a gelding, no manhood, and the H means that the horse is a horse meaning he still has his manhood and can reproduce.

Horse Racing Question?

What are the differences between a sprinter, a classic, and a stayer? If a horse is the fastest one out of the gate and stays in the lead for a very long time is it a sprinter?

Quaterhorse racing question?

I've been trying to find a diagram or photo showing a flipping halter in use. Basically, this is a halter that is used in the starting gate to keep a horse from rearing up and going over backwards in the gate. Quarter Horses are especially prone to do this because they are "hot" from the gate from the get-go and have to run all out from the second the gate opens. While Thoroughbred jockeys usually allow their horses to settle for the first few strides out of the gate, Quarter Horse jockeys have to be whipping and driving from the start-- if you lose a length in the break from the gate, in a quarter-mile race you've probably lost all chance.

Use of a flipping halter or flipping rig is something that has to be approved by the starter or stewards. If a horse is prone to rearing at the start or going up in the air, it puts both the horse and its rider in danger. Much preferable to school the horse not to do this, but sometimes that can't be done successfully.

Racing Jockey Questions?

OK recently I have been all out excited to go on my own and get experienced riding race horses and then become a jockey. But after one question on here i did research and have more questions.

If i was a little larger for weight and height could it still be possible to become a jockey?
How often does a jockey travel and by what means to get them and the horse there?
How long would it take to get out of apprenticeship if i have no experience?
What is an agent?
Is there a map of all racing academy schools in USA?
How do jockeys get silks? (their colorful outfits)

thanks ^^

Horse race betting question?

You should go to races and bet there at betting booths. The types of betting are usually described in the horse race brochure of that particular race. The simplest way of betting is to bet that your horse will come first ("win"), first or second ("place"), or first, second or third ("show"). There are more complicated types of betting (like trifecta) which have low odds of success and may be difficult for a beginner.
As for strategy, if you don't know anything about horses and cannot pick the best by just looking at them (few can!), you should look at the odds ratio displayed by the name of a horse before the race. The lowest odds (say, 20:1) means that the horse is unlikely to win, but if it does, your winnings will be the greatest. Vice versa, if odds are high (like 2:1), it means that the horse is very likely to win, but your winnings will be low. So the best and simplest strategy is to pick a horse somewhere in the middle (say 10:1): in this case, there is a good chance it can win and bring you decent winnings.

What is wrong with the horse racing section? There have been no new questions on here for nearly 3 months. Anyone know why this is the case?

The 2018 Road To The Breeders` Cup stake races are posted weekly as usual. However, for some reason they have not been it public view as of late. Yet another glitch. In order to view the race questions to answer, you will have to click on mine Sandra S and Blue Jay's profile then look under our questions to view our race questions. There are at least 3 race questions per week posted.
