This probably wont help but my mom said that when celebrities perform at the palace they stay somewhere in Troy or Birmingham, like last year One Direction stayed at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham Michigan. By the way they drove in right after their concert in Canada, so they got here at approximately 4am Thursday morning. Now I don't know for sure where they are staying only what my mom told me and where they stayed last year.

Independence Oaks County Park is nice. You need a county park sticker to get in, though. Or buy a daily pass. Take I-75 to Sashabaw Rd. (exit 89??) Go North 4-5 (?) miles. Just past Stickney Rd. Have fun!

MLB teams often stay in Birmingham's Towsend Hotel, so that is a start. Most arrangements are kept private, and remember that if the team plays in another city the next night, they fly out. The Ritz-Carlton Dearborn is another option.

Do not stay in Windsor. That is completely crazy. Chances are you will miss the basketball game with all of the congestion at the bridge/tunnel. If I was coming in to see the Piston I would stay in Birmingham at the Townsend Hotel. It were the visiting team usually stays, with some cool bars and restaraunts right in the area. Or I would stay in Downtown Rochester at The Royal Park Hotel. Great Bars there as well, plus it is close to the Palace of Auburn Hills. Both of these areas are very safe and they wont leave you with a 1 hour drive to the game on Sunday. Enjoy.
