How A Rapidly Developing China Can Impact The Rest Of The World

Is China on a path to self-destruction?

Though China's economy may be booming, people forget to mention the pollution caused by their increasing industry. My dad has been to China twice in the past two years. When he went to Guangzhou, the third largest city in China, the smog from the industrial pollution was so bad, they couldn't see the mountains in the distance until it rained. People who worked at the plant there for months didn't even know there were mountains! Their rivers and lakes are polluted, and the pollution is only getting worse, and China is expected to overtake the US in CO2 emmisons in the next ten years. Nearly one-fourth of their agricultural lands have been destroyed and are continuing to be destroyed. Deforestation and desertifaction are taking place throught China. Many live in poverty. With over 1.3 billion people, will China destroy itself through pollution and destruction of agricultural land? I predict in the next ten to fifteen years, China's people will revolt against the government.
