How Accurate Is Facebook

How accurate is Facebook Nearby Friends?

My boyfriend was at home with a severe migraine and we'd chatted all day via text. I'd seen he'd been to work and home and I'd seen both locations on Nearby Friends. Around 10 that evening I checked again and his location milage was the same (2 mi) but his location said he was in a "city over 30 miles away, time stamp: 45 minutes ago". I called him and confronted him and he assured me he was at home and had just woken up from a long nap due to his intense migraine. It updated saying that he was at the same location ( 2 miles and in the city that was over 39 miles away) but it updated the time stamp: "just now". He sent me his location through Google Maps and told me I could even come by to see his truck and bike were both at home. Since then his location has been accurate as I've checked it when we've been together to compare. Could this just have been a glitch with FB ' S Nearby Friends. After all, it did say that the city he was in, that in actuality was over 30 miles away, was located 2 miles away and I know that's incorrect. Just seemed a bit sketchy.

How accurate is Facebook's time reporting?

On Facebook, when someone posts a post on their wall, or a comment about someone else's post, it tells how long ago that activity was, but it doesn't always seem very accurate - for instance, it can say the activity was some number of hours ago for a while. And sometimes when I'm looking at my Facebook feed, I'll see new posts appear from people, but it says the post was minutes ago. So I'm wondering, how accurate is that time?

How accurate is Facebook's Nearby Friends?

Facebook has killed off Nearby Friends and replaced it with Facebook Wave and Live Location Sharing on Facebook Messenger.I guess the follow up question then is location accuracy of Wave and Messenger. My primary usage of the feature is sharing my location with a friend for a certain duration (60 minutes by default) and them sharing it right back. This seems to be the fused location that the OS gives you (combination of GPS, cell signal and WiFi). That has three kinds of errors:GPS errors due to lack of line of sight with the satellite (e.g. basement, tunnel, tall buildings)Cell tower errors, where accuracy is within 100 meter and therefore good for neighborhoods, not exact locationWiFi, where the error could be due to incorrect geocoding of the routerThe app does not capture trip polylines or mileage, which other location sharing apps provide (example: HyperTrack Live on Android and iOS). Disclaimer - I am founder/CEO of HyperTrack.I have not experienced the feature where I get notified about nearby friends and do not expect that to happen. This is a 1–1 or group chat feature where users opt in to share their location for a certain duration within the chat session. Therefore, no way to judge the accuracy of proximity of friends moving around you.Hope this helps.

Is 'last active' on Facebook Messenger accurate?

As I noticed the last active feature on Facebook have latency of at least 5 minutes. Even if user close the Facebook messenger app it still show he is active. After a few minutes it will change to "a minute ago". So it's not accurate in seconds as said here. Also it shows only whole hours, for example, if the user was last online 3.5 hours ago it will appear as 3 hours ago.

How accurate is facebook login notifications?

I tend to see Login notifications in facebook which doesn't match my expectations. i did change the password after seeing that but then it still continues. Is facebook login notifications accurate?
Can it so happen that if I login from Mumbai, india, it can show up as Hyderbad, India as the login place? Is that a possibility of error or is that a sure short notification that somebody is hacking?
I am not a little confused as this keeps coming even after I changed my password.

Any help from anybody is highly appreciated.
