How Accurate Is The Movie Brigham Young

What hardships did the Mormons face on their journey west?

Cold, Starvation, death of loved ones, exhaustion and not to mention the Rocky Mountains and every river they needed to pass

How accurate is Arthur Conan Doyle's depiction of Nineteenth Century Salt Lake City in "A Study in Scarlet"?

I read Study in Scarlet about 30 years ago, so you may need to give me some slack regarding plot details. I remember it as a pretty good yarn except for all the places it mentioned or described Mormons, Utah, Salt Lake City, etc. The city was depicted as a virtual prison, with armed guards shooting anyone who tried to leave without permission papers signed by Brigham Young. According to the book, paranoia ran high that disaffected people or gentiles who had wandered in would escape and reveal the terrible conditions in the city, the plotting and scheming of Brigham, et al, and the totalitarian nature of the Brethren.Quite the vivid depiction, but with very little connection to reality. Brigham Young was indeed both the leader of the LDS Church and the territorial Governor, at the same time. And Salt Lake City was indeed located next to a large inland body of salt water, within the Territory of Deseret, which later became the state of Utah. And Utah is in the Rocky Mountains. That's about it. Little else is factual. My mother was 100% descendent of Mormon pioneers. Some came by covered wagon, some by handcart. I've read their journals and other original sources, as well as compiled histories of the Mormon migration and the real history of Utah. Their description bears no resemblance to Study in Scarlet.

Is it realistic to get into the animated movies industry by studying Computer Science?

Of course, get focus into CG (Computer Graphics) area. There are lot of technical animation techniques you can learn: How to render 3D objects properly? How to put texture? How to add proper lighting? If you like art, do not fear of math and programming,  it's a good decision. But if you only interested in design (how to make/design 3D models, concept arts) don't go into CS.Get used into into some math concepts: calculus, linear algebra, geometry etc. since CG is massively filled by them. being able to write code isn't enough, you need to masted math. Moreover, CG can be very interesting: at first you may be really confused, need to think and understand lot of math formulas, get the code doing right, but once you can overcome them, you will feel really satisfied, the result of your work is the art itself, it can be a beautiful animation or cool-looking 3D games :)Of course, you will also learn animation and 3D modelling design: practicing Maya or 3DSMax, but of course you cannot be better than animators since designing is about "sense-of-art" which is developed by practicing for years. In the industry career, animators create the design concepts, CG engineers make them possible. For example, Disney has R&D department which filled by bunch of researchers (they do have Ph.D in CS) who are creating of breakthrough technologies in animation.

Were mormons responsible for massacure at mountain meadows?

most likely, INDIVIDUALS who were also mormon did, yea.

actually later evidence indicates that BY did not have the time to respond or order this massacre. and he expressed regret over the massacre as well.

you really need to get off the 'conspiracy' idea and look @the real facts. the remains were actually discovered BY the LDS church - while placing a more permanent monument. there were something like 17 survivors who were cared for by mormon families until they were returned to their families (mostly in missouri) my g-mother cared for some.

there is really no evidence to suggest a cover up @all. the "movie" (september dawn) was a work of fiction with a background of "historical interpretation".....it's about as factual as 'land before time'. brooks' book is decent although extremely biased and not always accurate. the best read on the subject and the best researched is likely gene sessions (link below)

What do Mormons/LDS think of the show "Big Love"?

I saw most of the early episodes from the first several seasons on HBO when I traveled. What I thought of those episodes as I watched them was a mix of1) mild amusement at how earnestly someone outside of Latter-day Saint (LDS or “Mormon”) culture, but perhaps more familiar with fundamentalist polygamist culture, had tried (and failed) to accurately portray our culture, since the writers obviously have little or no genuine understanding of the LDS doctrines and beliefs that drive LDS culture and motivated the practice of polygamy in the first place, and2) annoyance at the way most of the real Latter-day Saints are portrayed, as if Bill and his wives are somehow pretty normal while the Utah Latter-day Saints surrounding them are judgmental, superficial, self-righteous dupes and dopes. That anyone would watch that show and think they’re learning anything of value about Utah or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a travesty. The show is an unwitting parody of America’s prejudices about Utah, the Church, and us Latter-day Saints. It’s a bit like watching Night of the Living Dead and thinking you’re learning about the afterlife.

Is this really what Mormons believe?

I came across this video on youtube the other day and I thought it was too far-fetched to be true. Could any Mormons please shed light on this for me?

I have recently turned Vegetarian.?

I was wondering,
1) What made you become a vegetarian?
2) What you eat that is quite enjoyable?
3) How do you get all of the protein and nutrients that you need in order to stay healthy.

I just saw a movie called Our Daily Bread and was horrified by the military precision and lack of caring for the animals that were getting slaughtered. The butchers didn't seem to care at all about the comfort of the animals. They just slaughtered them with reckless abandon, and didn't even flinch when an animal was suffering and in pain. I am a very strong Christian and God has given us dominion over the animals, not just for our sick amusement or pleasure.
