Sopranos, Narcos, Quantico, Lost, and list is endless...

How can I watch my favorite tv shows without my parents knowing?

I love just relaxing after doing all my homework by watching TV, but all the shows I like are ones that are a little more mature than Hannah Montana, but not as bad a Gossip Girl. How can I watch it without my parents always coming in and out, which makes it awkward.

Thanks (I hope the question waas clear enough)

HOW will I watch my T.V in COLLEGE????

I was able to get digital cable at my dorm with a DVR and be billed separately from what the school was paying for me, so it can be done. You could buy your own TiVo and service and I belive it should work if you get cable where you're going to live. Otherwise, I'd actually recommend getting a TV tuner for your computer and using that as a DVR if need be.

And everyone saying that "YOU WON'T HAVE TIME FOR TV BECAUSE YOU'LL BE STUDYING ALL THE TIME"...ever heard of relaxing and taking a break, assholes?

What are your favorite shows on TV?

Unlike my friends who no longer watch the news, I won't miss the CBS Evening News. I am upset Scott Pelly isn't anchoring anymore but I get my fix of the best of him now on 60 minutes. Why is Oprah on 60 minutes now?My generation has stopped watching the news. It scares them. They don't believe most of it. It’s not about them so why watch? Ignorance is bliss and the “fake news” on Facebook is easier to swallow. My once brilliant buddies are getting boring and I'm tired trying to catch them up.I have to know what is going on in the Middle East and the East Coast. Trump is great entertainment if anything and who he will insult next is keeping me on the edge of my seat. The horror of the mass shooting in Las Vegas had nothing to do with me but I became aware of the importance of donating blood in the days that followed. Took North Korea off my mind where I am back again with tonights news. The best news on the tube comes with a few laughs. I'm hooked on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Started watching this hilarious man from across the pond on HBO a couple of years ago and look forward to cracking up for many more seasons to come. Easy to swallow.

Recently, I've started watching TV shows, and now I can't stop. I get distracted while I am doing homework, and I just can't get myself to turn the computer off. What do I do?

You are not disciplined enough to study at home because you are mixing leisure with study. Separate the two by going to the library to study. At the same time, once you get home, do no study. This is what I learnt to do when I had a baby at home and I was at university . I decided baby must come first at home. I would go to study early in the morning and use my time effectively, knowing I could not go home until I was finished with my daily goal or exhausted to study. This worked very well. I got top marks and at home I was relaxed and at leisure. I worked hard to get my home leisure time as early as possible. Baby was waiting. Pretend you have that baby or a JOB to go to, and you will be more efficient. Concentration is a muscle, you will get stronger the more you focus and separate your tasks and environments for doing them.

How often do college students go out?

The typical college stereotype: Students spend the majority of their time partying, drinking and doing stupid things in between. Forget class and an education, students really spend the big bucks to leave home and go wild, at least that’s what people want college-goers to believe. I thought this before I left for college, because that’s what I heard from family, friends and the mainstream media. And while my school has a decent amount of partying opportunities, I don’t want to do them on a weekly basis.Crowded rooms with music I’ve never heard of and hearing horrendous pick-up lines repeatedly definitely isn’t my cup of tea. Once I figured that out, I thought I wasn’t going to have a social life on campus, and it terrified me; there’s only so many Netflix shows I could watch by myself. I soon learned the party culture stigma surrounding college isn’t for everyone, at least not every weekend. Luckily, I soon discovered some alternatives to “going out” in college.Although watching TV seems like something you can easily do on your own, it gets boring after a while. It’s better if you have a buddy or two to join you on the emotional journey of your favorite TV shows. The same goes with movies: A girl can only watch so many rom-coms or thrillers alone, but eventually you need someone to scream at the TV with you when Andie and Ben’s hidden agendas erupt in “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.”

How many series would you watch before deciding if you want to get into a TV show?

Usually I can tell whether I like a show or not while watching the first episode itself. If it fails to impress me, I quit. But in case of some shows that were recommended strongly by friends (who are into the same stuff ) even if I don't like that first episode, I make myself watch the next couple because sometimes the pilots are rather shaky but the series gains momentum after the first couple of episodes. Currently I am giving a try to the Messengers. I liked the first episode, the second episode was less likable but I am going to watch the 3rd episode. If I don't like it., I will stop.
