Does Bali province of Indonesia derive its name from the King of Kishkindha mentioned in Ramayana?

No, from what I know, Sri Kesari Warmadewa from Sanur in Bali gave the island the name Bali Dwipa in the year 913, which is from Sanscrit meaning island of sacrifice, reincarnation, or offering. Before that, it was known by sailors as Bally, Boly, or Ballie, and the Spanish called it Minor Jawa.

Was Indonesia ever a part of India?

Ancient Indonesia was known as Nusantara. Nusantara modern day consists of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, East Timor, South Thailand, and South Philippines. These nations were part of the great South East Asia archipelago known as Nusantara. During Hindu-Buddhist times which was before the 14th century, Nusantara was part of the “Greater India” nation.Indian cultural extent:Dark orange: The Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan). Is Indonesia similar to India?

In many aspects, YES. The name itself “Indonesia” comes from two words meaning “Indian Islands”. Indonesia=”Indo” and “Nesia” originates from two Greek words which is “Indus” which is the name of a river in present-day Pakistan, and “Nesos” which means islands, thus Indonesia means “Indian Islands”. The name was given by ancient historians because of the similarity between the two nations (India and Indonesia). Similarity in the sense of many aspects of Indonesia are heavily derived and influenced from India. Indonesia was part of the Greater India culture sphere which before Islam, Indonesia was used to be Hindu-Buddhist nation which the religion was brought in from India, this results that the culture, language, history, and and way of life of Indonesia is heavily similar to India. The first case is the language. The language of Indonesia is known as “Bahasa Indonesia”. The word itself is derived from Sanskrit. “Bahasa” is a word from Sanskrit “Bhasa” which means language. Also many Sanskrit words are present in Indonesian language, and many are Indonesianized. Such as “Vijay” in Indonesia becomes “Wijaya”, “Prameswar” in Indonesia becomes “Prameswari”, “Karthik” in Indonesia becomes “Kartika”, etc. There are also many Indonesian local langauges which has many Sanskrit influence, such as Malay, Javanese, Balinese, etc.
