How Are Scale Model Cars Made

Where are they made? (cars)?

Different models and brands are made in different locations. You can check where they are assembled from this website ( carpoint.com). Just pick the year manufacturer and model. All the information should show up about that car.

A scale model of a car is 8 inches long and the actual car is 12 feet long. What is the scale of the model an?

12 feet = 144 inches. So the scale is 8:144

Divide 8 into both of these numbers and the scale is 1:18 <--------------------- Answer

How big is a 1:24 scale model of a car?

depends on what size vehicle the model is based after. an easy way to think of it is that for every 1 inch of the model car equals to about 24 inches of the real one. if it was a 1:10 it would be for every 1 inch of the model it would equal about 10 inches on the rea l one.

What does the 1/16 and 1/25 mean on model cars?

that's how much there scaled down

What is the ratio of the length of the car to the length of the model?

The trick is to use the same units for the model and the car
We can use inches
the model being 6 inches
and the car is 9 ft X 12in/ft = 108 inches, so the scale is

actual size / model size =108/6 = 18 or 18:1 scale ( the actual car is 18 times the model size)

Or use feet for both items
model is 6 inches or 6in X 1ft/12in = 0.5ft
and the actual car is 9ft so use the scale formula again

actual size / model size = 9/0.5 =18 or 18:1 , again the original car is 18 times the size of the model.

If a car model is 1:46 how big is it in inches?

My Toyota truck is 15 feet long, or 180 inches. Divide 180 by 46 and you get 3.9".

Why don't scale models (i.e., model airplanes, quadcopters, and electric cars) function the same way when they are scaled up to full size?

Andrew answered it pretty-much, but you can also think of it this inverse way:Take a 1:72 scale model and put it in a wind tunnel (or strap engine(s) on it) and see if it will fly, at a speed that’s 72 times smaller that the flying speed of the 1:1 corresponding plane. It won’t fly, it will just flap around, (even if its weight is way more than 72 times lighter than the 1:1 aircraft) because the air density itself did not change it’s still at 1:1 “scale”. If on the other hand we could somehow make the air/atmosphere that flows over the wings of that 1:72 scale model, 72 times denser, then the model would fly at a speed that’s more or less 72 times smaller than the flying speed of the 1:1 plane. That’s also another reason when you see RC planes fly, the larger scale the RC model is the slower it can fly. It’s also the same reason that even if a (large) scale model spends countless hours in wind-tunnel testing, to fine-tune the majority of flying/aerodynamic characteristics, there is still 1:1 testing done to observe certain fight characteristics in the 1:1 world. (think of the tufts they use one flying surfaces during flight testing)

Oops question got caught off;
