Is regular use of laxatives unhealthy?

Presuming you're talking about the "instant effect" purgatives, yes, they're bad for you.  You might try regular use of the bulk-forming laxatives like Metamucil or one of the fiber-tablet formulations.  They're not much different than eating more fiber.

Laxatives: Are there any health risks to taking Prunelax daily?

Prunelax is an laxative, long term use of laxatives let it be any form natural or pharmaceutical, it can cause dysfunction of the stomach by disrupting the normal function of the bowel activity and makes you dependent on laxatives. Don't use not more than 2weeks.

Why do people say it’s unhealthy when I take laxatives as an easy way to lose weight?

There are several different types of laxatives. Most types of laxatives are disruptive to the body and have bad side effects if you overuse them. Laxatives aren’t meant to be used long-term.For example, lubricant laxatives will absorb certain types of vitamins out of your intestines. If you use it occasionally, the side effect is no worse than skipping a meal. If you keep using it, you’re depriving your body of the vitamins it needs to function properly, and you can get various illnesses and diseases that the vitamins prevent.Other types of laxatives pull water out of other parts of your body to soften your stool. If you keep pulling water out of the rest of your body, you can dehydrate. Your body doesn’t work very well when it’s dehydrated. Symptoms of overusing laxatives can start at simple gas, abdominal cramping, nausea, rectal bleeding and get worse from there. Some laxatives cause weight loss because they get rid of water from your body. Most of the weight you lose from those types of laxatives is due to a loss of water, not fat. You might weigh less, but that’s water weight you lost. You’re not any healthier than before you took the laxative, even though you weighed more before, and you have just as much fat as before. Taking too many laxatives is more likely to turn a body from a grape into a raisin, not into an hourglass. In spite of the hype, weight loss is a bad thing. Most of the time, for the vast majority of human history, weight loss is a symptom of illness and disease. Lots of things that are unhealthy and make people sick cause weight loss. Trying to take shortcuts in “losing weight” makes a lot of people even worse in the long run. People who lost weight using shortcuts usually gain back even more weight in a few years and end up making themselves fatter and sicker than obese people who never tried to lose weight at all.Instead of trying to “lose weight”, we should try to “achieve and maintain a healthy weight” by practicing healthy habits, including eating right, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, and getting a healthy amount of physical activity. Shortcuts that make you sick can help you lose weight briefly, but they usually make people worse in the long run. You have to live in your body for the rest of your life. You can’t just lose weight short-term and call it done. Using shortcuts to “lose weight” often results in getting sicker sooner and dying faster.

Okay sit down and listen. By taking laxatives every day your body will become more and more dependent on them. It will get to the point where you can no longer make a bowel movement with out them. a laxative would not do as much as a healthy diet. you need to get over your addiction with food before you can lose all that weight properly, otherwise you will just gain it all back. when you are about to eat something unhealthy, think about it first. is it really worth it? how will you feel after you eat it? will it make you feel sick? are you hungry? i know its hard because food tastes so good, but in a few minutes that food will be gone, and you will feel like crap. its just not worth it.

Laxative Use once a month?

If you are going to the bathroom regularly you still might have junk(meats, other crap) in your colon . With that said every three months is good. With change in the seasons its good to have a colon cleanse and blood cleanse(health food store or cranberry juice for blood cleanse). make sure to hydrate(8 glasses of water ,really half your body weight in water per day) when you cleanse. you become dehydrated if you cleanse and don't hydrate.
consult your doctor first!
