How Busy Is Thorpe Park In Mid October And Early November

Scuba diving in mid October early November?

The weather should be fine for snorkel and scuba but if you are a pansy (like me) the water may be a little cool in November so you may want to bring a wetsuit. Peak hurricane season is in Sept. In October we usually in Fla feel we "made it" but did get whacked by Wilma a few years back in late Oct. November though still in " hurricane season" is not likely to produce a hurricane. I have lived in South Fla over 20 years and would not worry about a hurricane on a trip to the keys nor buy trip insurance since the odds are way way in your favor you will not be troubled. Have fun.

What were typical Oxbridge conditional offers like in the 1960s- early 1990s?

I applied to Oxford in 1963 and started my BA course there in October 1964.In those days Oxford and Cambridge held their own Entrance and Scholarship Examinations, and these were treated as vastly more significant than ‘A’ level results. Both universities were outside what is now the UCAS scheme and you had to submit an application direct to Oxford and/or Cambridge. (One could apply to both). The exam for Oxford was, for a few years, divided into two parts; the first was fairly short and taken at school and was only designed to give or refuse permission to take the second part, which was held in Oxford during the Christmas vacation. There were also interviews, of course.Fortunately, I was at a school that provided an extra term in the Sixth Form (‘Term 7’ as it was called). This provided a post ‘A’ level course in preparation for the Entrance exam. However, most schools couldn’t provide that and their pupils had to apply in Term 4 - in other words, a year earlier. It was said that the Admissions Tutors made allowance for this. However, it was often said that this put applicants from schools without a seventh term at a disadvantage. Obviously, Oxford and Cambridge were very keen to admit promising applicants, regardless of whether they applied in Term 4 or 7. (Already in those days there were various ‘league tables’).My ‘A’ level results (AAC)* were therefore known at the time of my application. (Please note that at that time As were awarded only to the best 10% of ‘A’ level performances. Now something like 27% of all candidates get an A or A*. At the time there was no A*).My place at Oxford, together with a College Scholarship, was awarded on the basis on the Entrance and Scholarship Exam.I hope this goes some way towards answering your question.*The C was considered a bit below standard.

How long did it take to get your offer from Imperial College London?

Well, I applied for entry in Fall 2019. I sent my UCAS Application in early October but Imperial was the last to send me an offer in mid-February. Honestly, don’t stress if you haven’t got it yet; every department at Imperial tends to work on the applications separately and even then the offers are sent out in batches. Two friends of mine got their offers in November, one in December and I got mine in February. From the two people that were rejected at my school, one got his rejection in January and the other in February. There is no pattern for acceptances or rejections.
