How Can I Access Imap In Yahoo

Can custom folders on Yahoo Mail be accessed via IMAP?

No. Yahoo only works through POP3. It does not support IMAP.

Does yahoo have imap?

According to Wikipedia, Yahoo has free IMAP services.
"Free IMAP and SMTPs access
It is possible to get direct IMAP access without signing up for paid access nor using software like YPOPs! or FreePOPs. Yahoo operates IMAP servers (imap.mail.yahoo.com in particular), which are globally accessible. However they require a specific, but non-standard IMAP command to be sent before login is done. The command is: “ID ("GUID" "1")” and it is relatively easy to modify any email client to send it. In fact this is the method currently employed by YPOPSs! and FreePOPs. There are modified version of Mutt and Mozilla Thunderbird available that send this command.[23]

There is also an IMAPs server running at imap-ssl.mail.yahoo.com. It is using SSL on the standard port 993.

In addition it is also possible to send mail through mail clients as yahoo also operates an SMTP server (smtp.mail.yahoo.com). It is necessary to enable SSL through port 465. The username is the user's Yahoo mail address and the password is the same as for webmail access, this applies to both IMAP and SMTPs access.yahoo mail address and th e password is the same as for webmail access, the applies to both IMAP and amtps access."

Why does Yahoo! Mail not offer IMAP access?

Actually they do and it's freeYahoo's implementation of IMAP is a pretty weird one. AT the time of the writing Yahoo! only "support" IMAP on mobile devices. This, however does not mean that IMAP is restricted to those smartphones. At first Apple announced that Yahoo! would offer free IMAP to anyone on the iPhone. Then Yahoo! released the protocole on BlackBerry and Windows Phone. IMAP was made official by Yahoo! on smartphone which means that there is someone in the mail team dedicated to make it work and to check on any issue encountered by some users.IMAP on other desktop clientsHowever, it was recently discovered by some genius in the Yahoo! Mail Group that IMAP was actually wide opened to anyone... ...should you have a paid or a free account ...should you set it up on a mobile device or on your computer ...should you be using a 3G or a WiFi connectionSo bring on the setting!Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL) Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL/TLS) Username: full email address (for example, bill@yahoo.com or bill@rocketmail.com) Password: the password you login to Yahoo! with.However...Now, one problem lies in the push system which means that you receive near-to-live updates as soon a new email message has arrived in your mailbox. The push notification works fine when you set up Yahoo! Mail BUT it only takes into account new email messages that have arrived in the inbox.  Also note that using IMAP on a desktop client IS NOT recommended by Yahoo! nor supported by the Mail team. This would explain the lack of push notifications and shows that the implementation of the protocole has not been fully made.From:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Y-...

pop.user(USERNAME)
pop.pass_(PASSWORD)

Do Gmail, Yahoo mail, and Outlook expose any APIs to access emails?

Tommy MacWilliam ably noted the options for integrating with IMAP or POP3 accounts.  For Outlook though it can be a little different, as many users access business accounts via Microsoft Exchange or Office 365 (hosted Exchange). Accessing that data usually requires  EWS (Exchange Web Services) or the REST APIs for Office 365.  If you need to integrate with Outlook.com then you can use their Live Connect API. Note that for users of the Outlook 2000-2013 desktop client applications, their POP3 data may not be in the cloud and will reside in local .pst files - your mobile app would not be able to access their data in these cases.

Thunderbird: How to change account from IMAP to POP?

You need to set up a new account with the same details but as pop3 accounts. You can disable the imap account first so it does not try to col;l;ect mail. Once you have the pop3 account running you can transfer the existing mails to the pop3 account folders and then rmove the imap accpount. Be aware as soon as you use pop3 collection, any mail read by your client (Thunderbird) will no longer be available from any other machine, or from the web mail. Pop3 deletes read messages from the server.
