How do I be an inventor?

The famous idea is that ‘necessity is the mother of invention’.Finding a need is the first step. The second step is creating (inventing) a solution for the need or problem.Nowadays, the hardest part about trying to be an inventor is identifying things that ‘need’ to be invented. There simply aren’t as many true needs for day to day people in many areas which are not being met, (or couldn’t be met if things that have already been invented were used in the right way). The majority of things that still ‘need’ inventing seem to be in emerging technologies, alternative energy, and in the provision of basics like food and water for people in poor areas.Cheap, safe, clean, renewable, easy to produce and consume energy? Invent that! Some way to produce food staples in very arid areas in large quantities? Invent that!Portable well digging equipment or kits that work wherever they’re needed? Invent that! This is all off the top of my head, but the main point is to find a problem that needs solving, then solve that problem. As for how to do all of that, assuming you’ve identified what you want (need) to invent, you will require a workshop or workspace of some kind where you can design, create, and test prototypes, some time, and some determination. It’s pretty rare that the first attempt will not require lots of rework or trial and error.Good luck!

How does an inventor make money?

There are many ways: The number one way is to bite the bullet and work hard to bring the invention to market on your own. If you make and sell your own invention, you can make the most out of it.The other less probable way is to licence or sell the patent on the invention to a big company, but that has very low odds of happening if you are an individual inventor. Also, if you make and sell your own product successfully, your odds of attracting a big company to your doorstep is much higher. The third way and most common way is for inventors working in big companies, the ownership of the invention belongs to the company but the employee inventor is often rewarded with some bonus or royalties.Long story short, if you are an individual inventor, file your patents, and startup your own buisness. If it works, you are going to make a lot of money, if it fails, you have tested the market for the invention and it’s time to invent something else and give a try at it. Good luck ☺️

How did patents help inventors?

Patents help inventors by giving exclusive rights and protection to your invention. Declaring that you own it and on one can copy it without your permission. To be granted a patent you must prove that your invention is significantly different than something that is already patented.

What courses do I need if I want to be an inventor?

I happen to run several research projects. Here's my advice - from the real world. Learn English well. That includes speaking and writing. I have not awarded funds for decent ideas based upon poor presentations or poor write-ups. When you ask someone to back you, you are competing with many other candidates for limited money. Not everybody wins.

Take some business and economic courses. A couple of reasons for this. First, an investor has to know that your product is going to get to market and be accepted by the public. You need to do the homework to convince them of your likely success.

Additionally, an investor is going to keep you to a budget. You need to know enough of finances to not get in to a hole. For instance, if you spend an extra month in a literature search because you've found a new avenue to explore, you have also wasted a month's resources that should have been spent on developing your prototype.

Finally, decide on the field where you will concentrate your efforts. If it happens to be electronics, study electrical engineering. If you want to design highway equipment, become a civil engineer and then work on some road projects.

Finally, wherever you concentrate your efforts, become very proficient with computers. More and more work today is developed first as simulations. Cost are too prohibitive to build more than two prototypes.

Good luck. Maybe we'll meet one day.

How can I be an inventor instead of a Founder?

You gotta network... (dramatic pause) ...to get work. This might sound like a pain, but one way to solve your problem is to get to know entrepreneurs who are looking for ideas. - Where do the entrepreneurs in your town socialize? Are there sub-cultures in your town that are more likely to have hungry business people in them?- Are there meet ups in your town you could be going to?- Are there maker fares that you could demo some of your stuff?- Could you be posting your ideas to the Internet and seeing if anyone gets in touch? The wider you cast your net, the more likely you'll find people that you legitimately like and want to work with.
