How Can I Become Less Terrified Of Doing Presentations At School

Terrified of doing a solo presentation on Monday ?

I have an anxiety problem so trust me when I say I know exactly how you feel.
I had a solo pres. today and I messed up. Bad. My breathing gets tight, and the words don't come out, and honestly i'm a mess. After people were asking me if i'm alright... haha. :/

There really is no way to get over the fear. Trust me, i've tried everything in the world. I suggest doing a few things though - first of all, practice practice practice. You need to know what you are going to say and what it means. If you know it, you'll have so much less anxiety because you'll be confident in what you are saying. I can't stress this enough.
Tea helps too, right before the presentation (decaffeinated), I suggest chamomile.
Look up breathing exercises, they loosen up your chest so you can breath better when you are speaking.
And lastly, let me tell you, no one but the prof is actually listening. I swear, look up during the presentation, most people won't be looking at you. No one is going to judge you, no one is going to care - which honestly calms me down a bunch.

Good luck x

Terrified of Spanish presentation...how should I calm down?

I have a presentation in Spanish on Tuesday. I worked on it this past week, thinking I was ahead of the game. But I when I went to my Spanish tutor, she was like "No,no,no,no! This doesn't make sense, that doesn't make sense, etc." I'm glad she pointed out the obvious so that I wouldn't seem like an idiot in front of my class, but now I'm so sick just at the thought of getting up in front of everyone and speaking Spanish, and my tutor commented that the teacher is going to be suspicious of me because my Spanish on the slides is "too good," but what the hell, she helped me, and I want it to be good, shouldn't I? I'm just so terified that my teacher is going to bash me because he treats me as the "dunce" of the class. I want to do good in this class, but they ask questions afterwards and I don't know if I'm prepared to answer them. I'm so scared, I feel like I'm going to throw up everytime I think about it. How should I deal with this?

Presentation At School Really Nervous?

Pretend you are an actor and that you are in your costume for the part.

These are for people who stutter all the time; perhaps some will help you.

Tips for doing a presentation

Know your subject matter really well and practice reading to your dog or just out loud to yourself ahead of time.

Look over the heads of the class at a point on the wall in the back of the room. The class will think you are looking at them, and the teacher will think you are looking at your audience.

Don't notice any reaction from the class. Their reaction doesn't matter, but it might make you feel more nervous.

Concentrate on what you are saying rather than how you are saying it.

Don't try to keep from stuttering as that will make you stutter more. If you stutter, just let it happen.

Maintain a steady pace, not too fast, and don't get in a hurry to "get it over with."

Speak in a relaxed manner and pause every so often.

Start into words easily keeping your lips, tongue, and jaw relaxed.

Realize that stuttering occurs more often when you are trying NOT to stutter, when you are under stress, and when you are tired.

How do I not get nervous when giving a class presentation?

How to make a presentation without getting nervous is a question asked by an incredible number of people each day. Studies have shown that speaking in public to be our greatest fear. It even ranks higher than death. One thing to do is before you stand to speak, is focus on the audience not on yourself. That may seem odd, but think of what you would like to hear. Think of what would impress and hold your audience’s attention. As for as what you can do….practice the six rules for good speech, which are:1) Think - about what you say before you say it2) Breath - talk as you exhale rather than inhale3) Move your mouth - that will prevent slurring4) Make all sounds - and be sure to emphasize the last sound of each word5) Use enough voice6) Talk slow - in order for you speech to sound normal to the listener, it must sound abnormal to youAccording to Dr. Don Kirkley, who taught public speaking at the Pentagon, the key to effective speaking is….hesitation. Pause. No more than six (6) words at a time without a pause. Even less….than six… will work….nicely. All great speakers, regardless their politics, JFK, Paul Harvey, Reagan, Clinton, Obama….paused. By pausing you WILL hold your audience’s attention.Ironically, when we are nervous, we speak faster and say more, which is just the opposite of what we should do. Thankfully, I’ve learned to shut-up (briefly)…pause.Be sure to use enough voice. MANY actors, who stutter, use(d) a full voice to overcome their stutter. That includes James Earl Jones, John Wayne and a host of others. If you can do something to make them laugh a little at first, it may take away some of your jitters. You might start with, I never knew public speaking was this stressful. If you get bored during my presentation and want me to sit down…..just throw money! You might think of something better. If you can make the audience laugh, you create a bond with them.Remember to pause, last sound…..use a full voice. Again, in order for your speech to sound normal to the listener, it must sound abnormal to you….for awhile. If you would like to learn how I overcame the fear of public speaking, read the ebook, Rise Above: Conquering Adversities on Amazon Kindle. Im scared to do a presentation in class?

This use to be my biggest challenge.
All through school we had book reports and getting up in front of the class was my greatest fear. Up until I did one on dinosaurs and that's when I realized that instead of the class being focused on me they were really just looking at the pictures. I than became just a voice in the background...Recently I had to stand before a group for an interview. The spotlight was on me. I dreaded it the night before. And then I just thought, whether I do good or bad I'm just going to be me... It turned out really good. By telling myself that it didn't matter, some how removed some of the pressure....(I've heard that sometimes our best qualities are camouflaged with fear???) Sometimes at least in the beginning try and focuss on something in the room, it could be one person that has a nice smile or just an object.
Good Luck....You're going to be fine!

I'm scared for my oral presentation, please help?

When I was in high school, oral presentations were constant, to keep myself mentally flexible, I would always record my presentation on my phone, I would then listen to it and hear myself, everytime tweaking my exposition a little more, making it better!
after doing this for a couple hours (Or less... depending on the person you are) I would feel prepared and very comfortable with the argument. I would go in class and ace it.
Another great way is practicing with someone else, ask a friend, a relative, a classmate or even do it with your pet (Trust me, it works the same!).
As for the hooligan that constantly laughs at everything, I suggest you disregard him and all immature children in your class, with the thought in your mind that getting the good grade will make you feel so much better after the exam is over.
Hope this helped.

Scared about a presentation?

First off - this is completely normal! Being scared about being a public target is a lot of people's fears.

Hope this helps:
Think about why you're scared - are you worried about making a mistake? Tripping up? Don't. Fumbling is common, and a few flubs won't be held against you.

Think about your material - do you know it? If not, go back, over and over again, until you are completely, completely down pat with your presentation. Knowing that you have practiced and have worked out your tempo is a real confidence booster.

Think about your audience. A bunch of kids! Pee wees and slackers, all of them, and none of them know much of anything about caffeine. Most don't even care to be in class. Most will be daydreaming. All of them, are just like you and will be hating delivering their presentations, so you're working a totally sympathetic crowd. Think about a few of the kids in your class and the normal things they do every day. Just knowing that they're regular kids and they're on your side should help you boost your confidence.

And finally, think about yourself. You're a strong, tough girl. So tough that you're doing this solo. You know yourself; you know you can step up and throw down with the best of them. This isn't anything! You've fought bigger fights and your here now, stronger and bigger. Don't get scared - get angry. Use that power your nervous gut and brain is giving you and turn it into the energy you're going to use to storm up to the front and deliver the goods! Its energy and adrenaline, after all, so rather than turn it inwards and make it fear, turn it out and make it a performance!

You're going to get this done, and get it done well. Believe in yourself!

Why do I get so nervous during presentation and I cannot talk?

I get so nervous before speaking in front of a class, even if I relax myself and don't care about the presentation. Yet, as soon as I go up the second I start presenting its like my throat closes up and people can hear nervousness in my voice. I hate this because somtimes I cant even get a good point across or am even to scared to ask a question in class or too nervous to go out for osmething like debate.
