How Do I Become Motivated to Cook?

it just came natural for me
and when my grand daughter was about 3 i started teaching her to cook
we started with jello then deviled eggs and so on .
i taught her how to clean up after cooking
how to measure ingredients and to make sure you had everything you needed. she is 23 now with 3 babies, and she is a great cook. my youngest son also learned from my hip. and he is a wonderful cook.
start small, and work your way up.
read recipes..i can read a recipe and know if it will be good or not.
you have to like what you are doing,,,,if you are critized, then make something when they are not home and surprise them.
again start small........

Start with simple, no-fuss, but very delicious recipes.  If you can see first-hand that you can make a tasty meal with minimal effort, that's motivation to continue trying new recipes and learning new techniques.  As a starter book, I highly recommend Mark Bittman's "How to Cook Everything".  He has a simple and streamlined approach to cooking, and his recipes are delicious.  You can check out his style in his former New York Times cooking column "The Minimalist".The Minimalist

Is it to late to become a cook?

There are cooking/chef/culinary schools in every major city. Le Cordon Bleu is one. The Culinary institute is another.
I typed in "how to become a chef" into the browser, and got pages of articles about what to do to become one.

It takes 2 years for an associate degree in cooking, and baccalaureate degrees are available. Sorry about my spelling.

As long as you like to be on your feet for long hours, do not mind a very hot room, and don't mind late hours or long hours into the night, you will like the job/profession.
do remember that you will be working intensely with other people, the sous chef, other cooks, waiters, your bosses/corporation, and of course, the public. You will need customer skills.

to draw the big bucks, it is said that you have to be very good at what you do, be able to follow instructions, or if you are the chef, make the instructions. A little creativeness never hurts.

Start wherever you like. go learn to be a fry cook, or hone some basic skills at home. Take some courses in your town, I know that their are Wilton classes available at craft stores, and our local kitchen store has classes.
Go forth and see what different restaurants have. Watch some TV shows to see what is "in". See how the pros do things. Watch The shows where they set up a restaurant from scratch, like Restaurant Impossible. Tell your family to make kitchen gadgets and cookbooks your Xmas presents.

Oh for heaven's sake, women were not even wanted a generation ago at culinary school. Julia Child helped break that barrier. And all chefs are not gay.
If it bothers you, go watch Diners, drive ins and dives, and see that Guy fieti is not gay, just a little bit surfer dude meets Italian guy.
And take a look at Chef Robert Irvine's guns. Oh boy. He has been married twice, is planning a thrid, and has two kids. I doubt if he is gay.

Its a big YES from me. You definitely ought to learn cooking for the following reasons:It saves a lot of moneyIt involves a lot of funYou may choose for your food to be healthy or otherwise :PYou have the choice of making your desired cuisine at any time of the day with or without dessert! Can be made more fun if you cook for others or with othersImproves your sensation to taste buds as you will know exactly what tastes like what and how much of it can impact your dish as a wholeEnhances your creativity as it enables you to try out different combinations and variationsIncreases your concentration as you wouldn't want a chopped finger with blood drippingImpresses your partner (or prospective partner)Above all, impresses your mom :)

How can i become a restaurant cook?

Get a job in a restaurant at dish washing if that is whats available. Many dishwashers end up helping the cooks, end many go from that to sous chef(or prep cook) who chops and cleans veg, does many of the boring cooking tasks.(washing a bunch of raw chicken, chopping carrots and onions. etc) Anyone who shows an interest in cooking will find a way.
I started as a midnight prep person in a hospital kitchen. 6 months later I was the PM cook. Did that for 8 years. Was the Relief cook at a nursing home and ended up being temporary food service director. Got hired at a high end bakery/bistro/coffee shop and now chef at the bistro occasionally, do all the chef stuff at the bakery(soups, salads, catering) and brunch. All hands on, on the job training.
Culinary school has its place but is expensive and on the job is more practical.
Visit your favorite restaurant and wrangle a tour of the kitchen during a slow time. Talk to the cook there. See what experience they have, where thy learned. Talk about job openings and entry level beginnings.
Good luck.

Learn to cook or born with it???

I was born to cook. It's in my blood. I come from a family of excellent cooks and bakers. Both my grandmothers could cook anything and make it sing. They were both awesome bakers also. One made biscuits that just melted in your mouth and tasted like heaven. One made cakes and tea cakes you would give your first born for. One of my grandfathers could cut up in the kitchen also. My brother and father are also very strong in the kitchen. My mother has lost her touch a bit but back in the day growing up, she turned it out. She doesn't really cook much anymore. I learned from watching them as a very young child and trying to do the same things myself while also trying new things and putting my own signature on classics. You can learn because cooking is from the heart and soul and is about love. The best way to get better is to watch good cooks that you know personally and watch the food network. My favorites are Paula Deen, Giada DeLaurentiis, Tyler Florence, Ina Garten, Emeril, Mario Batali, Guy Fieri, and Nigella Lawson. You can really tell they enjoy food and preparing it. It's truly a love thing for them. Foodtv.com or foodnetwork.com takes you to the foodnetwork website. Every recipe you see on any show and some that haven't been aired are on there. There's like over 20,000 recipes I think. First and foremost, you must have a desire to cook and it sounds like you do.
