As long as you know what the style is about, you can find gyaru-ish clothes anywhere. I've had good luck with Urban Behavior, but I know they just closed a lot of shops due to financial reasons, so that might not work for you. Many times the real stylish girls will be wearing a big designer like Chanel so it might be good for you to hit Marshalls, TJ Maxx, or higher end thrift stores like Plato's Closet. It might not be glamorous, but its cheaper than buying all of the designer clothes from a boutique(so you can buy more lol:P). For getting cheaper clothes that are actually from Japan(and on an English speaking site) you should try ebay-try starting out with searching for cecil mcbee, liz lisa, jsg, and cocolulu. Like with many alternative and Japanese Street Fashions, you’ll seriously have to be on the lookout.The secret is knowing the right silhouette and aesthetic of Mori Kei. Do you want a more fall/autumn look? More dark and gothy? More light and pastel?Once you know both the aesthetic of the fashion overall AND your personal aesthetic that you want, then you will be able to find pieces all over the place.Good retail stores to shop at might be honestly, the most usual “normie” stores like Sears, Macy’s, JC Penney’s and so on. Your best bet is also during the fall/autumn season when there’s a lot of orange, brown, tan, beige, white, black, cream, etc colored clothes as well as things that are darker/heavily saturated or lighter and muted colors (or right after the season when stuff is on sale!). There’s a lot of lacy and mixed textures as well which are a big part of Mori Kei. The more pieces you acquire, the more you can layer and mix and match.My favorite store to find Mori Kei stuff is Goodwill and other thrift stores, actually. Out of all the stores I go to for it, Goodwill is usually one I can leave from with 4 or 5 new pieces that are perfect. Thrift stores, secondhand stores, and charity shops are PERFECT for Mori Kei because, a lot of vintage and older fashion is lacy and good for layering. Plus, a lot of it is really cheap.I’d also suggest online shops. A good one might be The Pyramid Collection. It can get kinda pricey but it’ll be worth it for a few staple pieces and then you can find more to layer with at cheaper stores.

Hi! I'm a teen girl, I'm American but I really like some of the clothes I've seen in Japanese magazines, that I would wear. I took Japanese last year, and my teacher would give us magazines, that's how I've seen them. Like, they have clothes that look like ones I could find in Urban Outfitters, American Apparel or Forever21 here in the US. But I thought'd it would be fun to know some actual Japanese teen (girl) stores I could look up online, and maybe buy some stuff from? For example, I saw a random video on YouTube of a flash mob in Tokyo and one girl had cute little black boots on, with white tights, a burgundy short skirt with a black scarf and white sweater on, and the outfit was SO cute! So, does anyone know some teen stores in Japan i could access online? Thanks so much!
