I'm going to Marines boot camp on Monday, what should I do to prepare?
The person who answered it would be the saddest and most wasteful years of your life is probably one of the ones who could not make the grade in the Marines. Yes you will be yelled at, you will be called a knot head, if you laugh while the DI is talking you will do fifty push ups, if you last though fifty. You will know all your general orders before you leave boot camp. 1. To take charge of this post and all government property in view and so forth. It has been over seventy years since i went though boot camp at Paris island and I still remember my general orders and my DI's name. Keep your mouth shut, try to stay in step and don't forget to end every sentence with the word SIR. If you want to speak to the DI, It is SIR' Private So and So requests permission to speak to the Drill Instructor,SIR. Believe me it will make a man of you, and "Once a Marine ,always a Marine. Semper Fi until we die. You will be treated like a child that you are while in boot camp, once you graduate , you will walk, talk and stick that chest out like a man and a Marine. The day of your life that you will never forget will be the day you graduate from boot camp knowing that you are the best of the best. Advice-- If you are six foot tall or taller, when that Drill instructor picks you up at Yamise, Paris Island or at San Diego. Jump to the head of the line. If you can stay in step and try to keep a military bearing the DI will appoint you as squad leader. An honor. I was a drill instructor at PI for three years during the late 40's. It has changed quite a bit since then. The swagger stick the DI carries can no longer be used to poke some recruit with. Keep your nose clean, jump when the DI enters a room and don't ever to forget that SIR.
My boyfriend left for navy boot camp i miss him like crazy. is anyone going through the same thing?
i went through the same thing, and what helped me was writing. i would keep busy during the day, but at night i'd miss him so much that i couldn't sleep, so i'd write him letters until i got tired. just know that basic training is only a means to an end. once he's done with BCT and goes to AIT, he'll be able to call and things won't be as restricted. i also had a calendar and i'd cross the days off every night before i went to bed until he got home. that also helped because at the end of the day, you felt like you had accomplished something, because getting through the days sometimes were tough! i agree with everyone else on here, though. even if you're depressed and lonely and don't feel like getting out of bed or getting out of the house, etc., try to go out, hang out with friends, take classes, pick up extra hours at work, etc. and it will make things a LOT easier.

I had just divorced a violent, very bad man. My girlfriends took me out to the corner pub - the place we had broken in our fake IDs years ago. As we were walking there I was thanking them for cheering me up. In the same breath I stated "If I never meet another man again it'll be too soon." We walked into the bar. He was bartending. I asked him for his number. He asked me for mine and called me the very next day. We got engaged 6 1/2 years later and broke up 2 months after that. We met on Friday the 13th.

The calling rates vary on the service provider and the country we are calling to but it is usually less than USD 1/minute.3) All the ships have a satellite phone number. In emergency the families can call on this number. This would be expensive but this can be used in emergencies.4) All the crew are given a email ids to connect with the families. Crew can send and receive emails on these emails.On Ships With internetApart from the option for ships without internet, ships with internet can use the ship’s internet to make voice calls over WhatsApp,IMO, Skype, Viber etc.If the speed of the internet is good (like on ships I have sailed on), we can even make the video calls through Skype or FaceTime.
Why does no one ever say I look pretty?
I don't mean to sound narcissistic but it's really been bugging me lately. I know that I'm not a "pretty" girl and I'm ok with that but my problem is that all of my friends constantly tell one another that they look nice or that their profile picture is pretty. I even look almost exactly like one of my friends who is always getting compliments but I never get anything. I always get compliments on being smart, funny, or being a great friend but never a world about prettiness. Just wondering if anyone has an answer for me.
