I have a BSNL internet connection (RJ11) so how can I use it on my new TP Link wifi router which has RJ45 cable port?

The previous answer has already answered your question. I would like to explain things here.Rj11 and rj45 are different in lot of properties. As said Rj11 is nothing but your telephone line cable. This interface uses telephone line's unused bandwidth for transmission of data alongside voice. But here we have to remember one thing that just like your telephone voice transmission, data transmission over this is analog, i.e. the graph that you get is a wave form with every possible value from 0–1. This network interface is commonly known as DSL.Now, as we know computers, or for that matter any electronic, computes and understands only binary, 0 and 1,and nothing in between. Its either everything or nothing. So what a rj11 modem router does is it first converts analog signal to a digital one, the modem function. Then the router takes this digital signal and transmits this in the environment for the electronics to catch it.On the contrary, a signal coming through rj45 is already in binary, digital form, and it is not needed to be change into anything. Therefore, such routers only have routing capabilities and not that of modem and hence do not take rj11 as input. My suggestion, if you want to use your tp link router get a dsl modem and connect it to your tp link via ethernet.Hope now you have some clarity over both types of networking interface.Thanks.

Ethernet connection not working?

ok guys, I'm usually quite savvy when it comes to pcs but i might need some help on this one.
Here are the facts:
-My LAN internet connection is not working on my gaming system (motherboard: Asus rog maximus vii ranger)
-Every other client in the house (that is including wifi) has working internet
-It works perfectly when connected to my laptop (so its not the cable)
-I get the LAN symbol with the yellow warning sign in the task bar, yet the network and connection center does not display any connection whatsoever.
-When I attempt to troubleshoot it via windows (not that that would ever work), it says "something may be wrong with your ethernet driver"
-Nothing I have done has changed any of those facts

What I have done:
- installed up to date drivers for the mobo port
- aaaalll the registry stuff
- reset ip via netsh etc.
- uninstall drivers and restart
- turn off firewall and try again
-try a different cable
- try to use a USB LAN card (didnt work at all, same problem)
-winsockfix
-reset and restart the router
-panic and go ask yahoo answers

I would really appreciate any advice from you guys, hope somebody has encountered something similar and fixed it.

What do the different colors of lights in an Ethernet port mean?

Flashing lights mean activity - no matter what the light is. If it is US/DS, then it is on the Upstream and Downstream. If it is ONLINE, then it almost done connecting to the internet. If it is on WIFI or ethernet then it communicating with one or more devices on your network. That’s a good sign. You don’t want that light off if you have a device plugged into the ethernet. That’s bad.Now as far as colors. That is determined by the manufacturer of the device. There is no standard color when it comes to routers or modems. It’s all different! Since I don’t know the manufacturer or model of the device I will just have to use an example. That is an Arris DG1670A. Which is commonly used with Charter Business Accounts. That model has two color lights on the back: Green/Amber. Green means that the port is running at 1 Gbps. Amber means that it is running at 100 Mbps. If you see Amber that means something connected to that port is not compatible with gigabit speeds. The device automatically slowed itself down to compensate. Is that a problem?Provably not. Most internet speeds are not fast enough for you to notice. Only at speeds faster than 100 are you going to notice the difference. Or if you transfer large files between the computers. Otherwise - your fine for now. Worry about it when it becomes a problem. If you want more specific information then please include the model and make of your router. That will help us explain more. Hope that helps you understand modem/router lights. Take care.

Can you turn a electic outlet into an a phone jack?

_If you want to turn an electrical outlet like a plug into a phone Jack there's several devices that will do this however I do not think it will work with a modem the data transfer rate would probably be too slow.

'Let's face it - there's usually never a phone jack where you need one. Whether you want phone in the living room or want to move your TiVo or ReplayTV to a television somewhere without a phone jack, wiring one in can sometimes be impossible or expensive.

You can easily forego the expense and hassle of hardwiring in a phone jack where you need one by using a wireless phone jack extender. The kit comes with two devices - a transmitter that wirelessly transmits the phone signal and a receiver which catches the signal. These devices usually range between $50 and $100, and can quickly solve your phone jack issues."

Addendum:
You could probably go to your hardware store buy a length of telephone wire, connect one end to the nearest telephone Jack in your house by taking off the cover and matching the wires (Color coded) to the wires. run the wire to your room and attach a modular phone Jack (purchased at your local hardware store) to the other end. Not necessarily pretty, but effective I have done something very similar to this and ran a dialup modem on it for years.

Need to move my Uverse Router to another room?

I have my current Uverse Router/Main Hub in the living room and a security camera system in another room. The only way to connect to the cameras remotely is if they are connected to my network. Without having to run an ethernet cord close to 200 feet to the other room, is there any way to move the main hub to the other room and plug it into the jack located there. I know the installation guy had asked where I wanted my main hub (an insinuation that it mattered). I also asked customer service and they mention a new tech would maybe have to install a new wall outlet. Is there a specific way these things are wired that there is a MAIN wire from the pole that runs to the 1 specific outlet, and thereby making it impossible to easily move from room to room? Or if all the lines are the same and only the jack is different, can I just swap out the two outlets in the two rooms and it should work. I already tried moving it into the other room and it didn't take.

Hi. I recently began using an ethernet cord for my lap top. Was wonderin if anybody knows what this means:?

"Your connection was interrupted

A network change was detected.
ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED"

It happens every five minutes or so, but lap top worked fine on wifi. I just decided to "hard wire" it because there's a 50 mbps difference between my hard wired desk top and wifi lap top speeds. I get the higher speed with the ethernet cord, as I am supposed to, but am getting kicked offline every couple minutes. I ran all the diagnostic stuff I could think of. I though I fixed it with that, but I was kicked offline once since then, so. Computer people: got any idea what 's up?
