Chances are 50-50 !In India, Parents would always compare you to your neighbor, your classmate and your relatives (chaar log).So what I did was,I called up my friends at class who were pretty darn rich and who had a Galaxy s2, HTC Sensation, Galaxy Ace and a Xperia Mini (I know, this happened in 2012)So I called them up, When my PARENTS were around. As usual everyone started to use their phones in front of my parents. Everyone kept their phones on the table and I kept my Nokia 2626 alongside. I called my mom to bring some tea for me and my friends. While my mom came inside, I gracefully told my friend about what his mobile could do and what mine couldn't do (I told this pretty loudly so that my mom could hear). Later after my friends went, I went to my mom and asked for a mobile telling them that all my friends are having smartphones and I am the one who's the lone guy having a touch-less phone. Within a week, I got my Galaxy y. ( Cheapest smartphone at that time, but still got one )

My android phone that I've had for two years is broken now, my friends from school have suggested that I get an iPhone 6. I don't want the new iPhone 8 or iPhone X or an iPhone 7, I just want an iPhone 6. I feel horrible for asking my parents to buy expensive things for me because I feel like a spoiled brat and feel ungrateful for the things I have. I just want a faster and better phone with a good camera quality. I feel like I've proved to my parents that I am worthy of a good phone, I've made it into a position at a credit union at my school, and have outstanding grades. Please, any tips? Thank you.

I had the same issue! Just keep with argument that it won't be that much more! If you got say, AT&T's 200 mb data plan, which is only $15 it wouldn't add up to much! :) If you wanted you could completely cancel texting and just get a data plan! Current texting plans are a rip off because a text takes up so little space, that if you sent thousands of texts a month, it would only add up to a few megabytes! If you get an android or iPhone you can download an app called "TextFree" which is add supported (just a little banner at the bottom), they give you a new number just for texting through the app, and you can text all you want for free! :D Or for $10 a year, you can get rid of ads!!!! Also, if you were to switch to Virgin Mobile, Prepaid phone service, (prepaid means no contract so the phones are more expensive, but the plans make up for it!) you could each get 2gb data, unlimited texting, and 300 minutes for $35 a month per a person! :D With an Android smartphone!! That adds up to just $105 a month for a family of 3! And they use Sprint's towers, so the coverage is pretty good!

My mom took my phone away two weeks ago because I talked back to her. When she asked me to do the dishes I told her I didn't feel like it and then I walked to my room. She followed me, took my phone for talking back and then said I had to do the dishes or I would be grounded...so I just did the dishes to avoid getting grounded. She said I could have my cell phone back once I stopped talking back to her, but it has been two weeks now! I haven't talked back to her at all in the past two weeks. How can I get my phone back?

Thanks for the A2AI think it may be for your own good only , patents never think anything that is bad for you , NEVER .I am not really sure what happened in between there , the phone coming and going into your mom's hands so I can't really comment on that .I'll give you my own personal experience , I think I was in 11th Std. in 2011 when I got about ₹ 10,000 from my father to buy a brand new smartphone , that time Android was a new concept and 1GB RAM phones were priced outrageously .So I managed to get a 768MB RAM phone by Sony for about ₹ 15,500 ( the ₹ 5,500 was of my own savings from the past year ) . I was really happy when it arrived and I used it for like 2-3 weeks . Once or twice I even took it to school and my tuitions to show off that phone , but when my mom came to know of this , she immediately scolded me and kept it with her . She did give me the SIM card and a spare Nokia 1100 to use for the time being in emergencies whenever I needed it .Weeks turned into months , and a year and still I could not get my phone back from her as she was adamant about my studies being my priority .Just like this time passed by and then I also gave my 12th Boards , after that my result came and it was better than I had ever expected , an overall 85% , not bad at all I thought to myself ( may be it be nothing in today's time , but still I went from just passing to this kind of percentage and I was thrilled ) and went with it to get into Architecture in a not-so-hifi Government college .After my admission my mom gave the phone to me and I took it with me to college and then I realised why she had kept it with her .I can never thank her enough for this EVER , so the jist of this is they ( your parents ) are doing it for your own good and nothing to gain for them in this .Hope this helps .....
