How Can I Fill Out A Blank Check That Is Not Mine

My grandmother signed blank checks for my family members and I for bills, emergencies, etc, now pressing charges? However.?

My brother wrote a ridiculous one of 13k and I wrote one for 2k for surgery. His is for IDK what. My grandmother pressed charges but doesnt want to press charges on mine anymore. She left voicemails (now evidence) that she does remember telling us we could use them and forgot she did, and says she is glad for me to use that check. The bank froze my account and I can't get any of my money now, apparently (under investigation). She doesn't want anything to happen in my case, my brothers however, she wants that back. I haven't seen my lawyer yet and just getting opinions on this situation. I did nothing wrong and so worried. My brother is probably going to prison HIS lawyer said. Im 24 and so worried about this situation I never wanted this to happen. What is most likely going to happen?

How can I cash a check that is not in my name?

Depending on where you are , the local banking / anti fraud legislation and who the check is made out to: It may be possible to "endorse the cheque" to your accounts name. When my parents ran their own business, they would use different trading names depending on the product they were selling. If they were selling childcare centre equipment they would use a trading name that matched that industry, if they were selling craft kits for schools, they'd use a different trading name. All of these trading names were registered to their business (X trading as Y, X trading as Z, etc.). They only had one business bank account. So whenever a cheque can in, whoever was checking our mail box had to take the cheques to the bank and write on the back of them "Pay to X trading as Y" and sign it (as a duly appointed company representative). Where X was the account name and Y was the payee on the cheque.if the cheque has be "crossed" this may not be possible. If the cheque is made out to a person and not a business, this may not be possible.Ask your bank manger. Not all tellers are aware of this procedure.I once tried to deposit a tax return cheque into my partners account (different bank) so I could pay down her credit card debt. I was trying to avoid spending another half hour in a bank queue, having to withdraw the cash from an account with a limited number of free monthly withdrawals and get this sorted that day (I get one rostered day off per fortnight).I approached the teller, explained the situation and asked what the procedure was at this bank so I didn't risk invalidating the cheque before I found out if this was possible here. The teller asked for my drivers licence, photocopied it and the cheque then handed them back to me, said "no" and jumped back from the window as if she expected me to try and hurt her. (I am tall and was wearing a leather jacket. Apparently, this scares some middle aged women.)Rather than ask me or her manager about it, the silly fool assumed I was trying to defraud the bank and refused to do business with me.

Tracking a stolen Blank Check?

Not unless, they are really determined, or sell your information to someone who is capable. (They would need to forge a good looking ID, and possibly hack your pin number... by then you hopefully talked to your bank and switched the account numbers)

You definitely should notify your bank so you are not liable for any forged transactions. Banks, normally ask for ID, and or pin number in addition to your signature. The bank will probably just ask you to change your account number,... as inconvenient as it is.

My friend's check book got stolen. Someone tried to cash or use a his checks and totally failed. His bank notified him. And i don't know what happened to the thief.

What punishment would you get for stealing a blank check and using it?

I was on deployment overseas, and my stepmom found a blank check of mine, forged my signature, wrote it for $300 and cashed it. I have an image of the false check in my bank and an email confession from her apologizing. If I turn this in, how much trouble would she get in?

Fun question!Fill in the blank: You know you're a mum when.....?

Aww, what a cute question, and lovely answers.

*When you don't mind tipping paint, flour and sand all over your house if it means keeping your baby amused for a little while.

*When you walk through town talking incessantly and pulling face without even feeling a little bit silly because you're making your baby happy.

*When you really begin to appreciate everything your own mum did for you.

*When you call your mum over every little thing, "Mum! I know it's 3am but she's got the huccups, what do I do?"

*When two hours constitutes a good nights sleep and if you do sleep longer than that you feel guilty and instantly have to run to check on your LO.

*When going to the doctors is exciting because you know you're going to see your health visitor and get your baby weighed

*When you spend 10 hours per day on your knees making train, dog, car, cat, elephant, snake and lion noises.

*When shopping for baby clothes and new toys is more exciting than shopping for yourself has ever been.

*When hearing somebody say "mommy" in a faltering little voice rates as one of the most magical, exciting thing that's ever happened to you.

*When you open a savings account with the soul intention of emptying it in December to make this "the best Christmas ever!"

*When almost every sentence you say starts with your childs name.

Congratulations on being a Mum! :) It's the best! x

What are those bank-issued personal checks called?

My girlfriend is a customer at Huntington bank and she was out of personal checks one time and needed some immediately but her new checks could not arrive on time, so she went to the bank and free of charge they gave her some blank personal checks with her numbers written on it and the banker's signature, they were single sheets.. just like personal checks, she later wrote the amount and the payee. Anyhow, I need one, and I'm wondering what they are called. And.. if anyone happens to know, if Bank of America offers them.

Can I cash a payroll check for my dad at my bank?

The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) provides for four kinds of indorsements (signing the back of a check, for example); 1) blank, 2) restrictive, 3) nonrecourse, and 4) special.

1) A blank indorsement is when a person just signs his name on the back of the check. With such an indorsement, the check becomes a bearer instrument, as if cash. "Finders keepers, losers weepers" applies.

2) A restrictive indorsement is when a person signs with a condition, for example, with the intent of prohibiting further transfer, like (1st line)"For Deposit Only", (2nd line) [Holder's Signature."

3) A nonrecourse indorsement is when, for example, someone gives me a check, and I offer to negotiate it to you, and I sign it, (first line) "Without recourse," (2nd line) [My Signature]. Here, you are on notice that I have a hunch that the check may not be good and I don't want you to come back to me to pay up! Would you take such a check, for value? (Probably not.)

4) A special indorsement is the indorsement you and your dad want to make. Your dad signs the back of the check, (1st line) "Pay to [Your Name]," or "Pay to the order of [Your Name], (2nd line) [His Signature], (3rd line) [Your Signature].
That makes the check a bearer check, like in (1) above.

Alternately, you may, on the 3rd and 4th line, make a restrictive indorsement, such as, "For Deposit Only/[Your Signature]," like in (2) above.

Now, that is my understanding of the law, as far as negotiating a check. What a bank teller, or his/her manager does is another issue, altogether!

If the banker refuses to cash it, your alternative is to deposit your dad's check with the restictive indorsement and then withdraw funds from your account when funds are available.

How to decide my bank name city and state if filling out a form, if the bank is a national bank?

Somewhere on that form should be a blank for routing number and account number. Those are available from your check and/or your bank statements. If you can't find them, call the bank and ask or go by their office for help with the form.  As long as those numbers are entered correctly, any error you make in spelling, location or naming should not influence the eventual deposit into your proper account.
