How Can I Find A Police Officer

What do you think of Police Officer's?

Hey SW toes

I saw a very nice policeman on Monday as I lost my handbag, and he was so sweet and helpful I took him a packet of chocolate biscuits the next day to thank him!

He typifies for me the average cop we have here in the UK as a decent guy who genuinely wants to contribute something to his community and to help and comfort people when they are distressed.

Even when I was younger (and a bit of a bastard - if truth be known!) I had to respect the cops I came into contact with as they were always professional and treated me with respect - even after chasing me and my mates all over town or arresting us!!

That is what I would consider the most important thing a cop (or anyone) can do to inspire confidence. Recognise that you are being paid to do (an often unpleasant) job and that showing a consistant and humane face to the public is the ideal that people hope for, but don't always get.

A cops attitude may be the only thing that sticks in the mind long after the problem or offence is a dim memory - and as others have pointed out; you sell more papers with bad news than good. So unless you have firsthand experience with great policemen you are going to have a skewed perception of what most of them are like.

I hope you get treated well on the streets, as from what I have observed of you - and the fact that you even care enough to ask - I guess you're the kind of copper that people are glad to run across!

Where do I find single police officers?

The police station is a pretty universal bet.In reality, there’s typically a “police hangout”, whether it be a bar or a gym.Like Mr. Carter said, police officers don’t make the best boyfriends. We work a lot, and when we are home, we’re sleeping. Most cops are cynical. If things get serious, police officers are above average in substance abuse (typically alcohol), domestic abuse, and suicide. It takes a special kind of woman to handle a cop.

Police officers names?

Is it possible to get a list of police officer's names in your town? Also state police officer's names? If so, how do you do that? Is there an online directory or anything?
I'm just curious. Thanks.

How To Become a Police Officer?

Requirements and how you become a police officer vary depending the state and the department. One of the best things that you can do is to earn a college degree. As far as education goes, some police departments only require their officers to have a high school diploma or GED. Some police departments require their officers to have a two year degree or equivalent. Some police departments require their officers to have a four year degree or equivalent. Even if a particular department does not require a degree, you will have a better chance of getting hired if you have one. Some departments pay their officers more if they have a degree. Having a degree could also benefit you when trying to get promoted after you become a police officer. Choose a major that interests you and that would be useful for police work. Criminal justice, psychology, forensic science, a foreign language, accounting, and computer science are some good examples. While in college, learn as much as you can, and earn the highest GPA that you can. Be a good person, maintain a good reputation, and don't do anything that you would not want a background investigator to find out about. There are many things that you can do to increase your chances of becoming a police officer. As a police officer, how do you handle street fights?

The standard police joke is…”The winner goes to jail, and the looser goes to the hospital.”Alas, it’s seldom so simple. Fights are assaults, of one sort or another. If they participants are willingly fighting each other, it’s termed an “affray” in most jurisdictions. The degree of the offenses charges will depend on the amount of damage done, who was the aggressor, that sort of thing. These normally involve a lot of paperwork trying to sort out who did what and why, and often the entire thing will never make it to court since there’s so little evidence and the participants are unwilling to prosecute anyway after they’ve cooled down.In some areas, fighting is just considered good clean fun on a weekend night….And is often so treated until someone ends up dead or seriously injured. If weapons become involved, then the legal stakes go up considerably…. These become felonies and are handled more seriously.Another old paradigm….You go to a report of a “fight in progress” code 3….Lights and siren. That way, when you get there, they’re all gone.

I’m looking to date a police officer, so where do I find one in Canada?

You know police officers are people, not just uniform. I am curious why do you want to date one? does it matter to you what they do outside of work etc? As dating someone purely based on career is off, unless you plan to become a ‘badge bunny. So since you are dying to date one. First and foremost you will encounter their long shifts working all types of hours, the day jobs are usually for the ones who are higher rank. Now you do know due to the job, a lot have a lot of stress, anger issues and how they see the world through the prism. Highest rates of the divorce. I am pro police. I actually spent many years being with an officer, it is not a walk in the park. I constantly crossed paths with police working in litigation, being a director on the crime stoppers board etc. Hence that is how you meet people based on similar interests. Otherwise many will just treat you as a badge bunny, many see through someone, who only want to date them based on uniform. They will partake but will it lead to a serious relationship doubtful. Good luck, if are still dying to do so, go out on the 911 nights they hold.

How are police officers evaluated?

Another one of those ‘varies by department’, but on a general basis most departments use CompStat or something similar at the department level, which is then broken down to precinct/watch/patrol beat. While senior managers deal with the macro level, mid level supervisors down to patrol officers focus on the micro. Crime is very fluid with criminals moving in/out of areas and in/out of prison, changes in neighborhoods and overall economy. While a large amount of police work is reactive (responding to calls), there are some that believe that a strong proactive stance can also effect certain types of crime (see broken windows theory). While I agree with parts of this philosophy, I also see it as a bit of ‘whack-a-mole’, where if you make your area ‘unfriendly’ to some types of crimes / people, they simply move next door/next city, becoming someone else’s problem. At the individual level, patrol officers were evaluated on their individual stats: calls responded to, arrests made, tickets issued, citizen complaints, their general attitude - pretty much what the same as any employee simply with different metrics.Detectives were evaluated on their clearance rates as it relates to their case load and types of crimes handled. The clearance rates for homicide were much higher than any other crime due to the lower number and the resources provided. Thefts/burglaries had the lowest clearance and highest case load. Supervisors would also get feedback from other detectives in the squad, the prosecutors and of course citizens. All detectives work in a squad and in addition to your own stats, your squad as a whole was also evaluated - as such, we assisted each other to help the squad. Those that could not ‘carry water’, would quickly be transferred out as it only increased the load on the squad. All officers get a ‘rep’ from their fellow cops - based on a number of factors, not the least of which is who you want working in the beat next to you that will be your back up if it hits the fan. If properly managed, this can be one of the better tools for managing the day to day activities, assuming the senior officers are setting the proper examples.
