How Can I Find Out If I Have A Warrant

How do I know if I have a warrant?

Well, the simplest way is to walk into a police station and tell the person at the desk that you think there is a warrant for your arrest and that you are here to surrender on it. Bring ID and, if you want and if possible, lots of cash. They will look you up on all the criminal justice databases, find that warrant if it exists, and, if applicable, serve it.If there is a warrant, but that police station is outside of its geographical limitations, they will not take you into custody - and you have the information you wanted! Win-win!If it’s a local warrant and you brought enough money, you can then post bond and walk away a couple hours later with all the information you need, no longer a need to look over your shoulder all the time, and a court date at which you can answer whatever the charges are.If it isn’t local, you will be transported within a day or two to the issuing jurisdiction, where you can post bond and walk away with a court date and the rest. If it’s local but you don’t have enough money, you have reliability points that you might be able to trade, at your first hearing in a day or two, for reduced bond.Or, you can just wait and see - in which case, the arrest will probably come at the most inconvenient time.(And that arrest almost certainly will come, one of these days: something like 95% or warrants are eventually served!) Like when you’re rushing your wife to the hospital in labor, or you get a speeding ticket while you’re on your way to the job interview you have been working on getting for two years. So: if it’s there, it’s going to happen. You have the power to make it happen at a time you choose under terms you control. Or, you can slink around and wait for it, squandering the power you have, and feeling like a prey animal until it happens and like a victim once it happens.

How do I find out if I have a warrant in Indiana?

In Indiana, warrants are not public record unless entered as evidence in a criminal proceeding. If there is a warrant issued for your arrest, there would be no way to know until you are served by police. No court in Indiana will disclose that information as a public record prior to detention. An arrest warrant is not intended as a public notification. It is simply an assurance that a judge has independently reviewed current evidence and decided that sufficient cause exists to detain a person.

How can i find out if i have warrants or not in kentucky for free?

If you know the county you need to call the clerks office of the court where you were charged. This is free and accurate. It's the only way to know for sure. Good luck with this as you don't want to find out the hard way. Don't go to a police station unless you plan on getting arrested. Also, if you go to a police station out of the jurisdiction of the warrants they may not show up as they may not have been sent to NCIC.

How can you find out if there's a warrant out for your arrest? I got issued a citation, and was told that if I didn't pay it, they would then issue a warrant. Would this warrant only be active the County, or in the whole state/country?

You should be able to contact the suspected jurisdiction, contact their court clerk. Give them your name, DOB and current address at which time they will check the NCIC database and let you know.Do you believe you might?Be careful, if you do and it’s a biggy, don’t be surprised if they come looking for you.So, if you do have one, the best course of action is usually to go to the courthouse, turn yourself in at which time they will arrest you, arraign you, and either give you a bail amount or release you on your own recognizance. However, if you have a record of FTA (Failure To Appear) to court dates, you may be held for bail or your next court date which could be weeks to months down the road.Or if you have the means, contact either a private attorney who will charge you anywhere from $150.00 an hour all the up to $1500.00 an hour. Or you can contact the Public Defenders office, make an appointment to be interviewed and see if you qualify for a court appointed attorney. Remember, a Public Defender is an attorney hired by the county or the state that is grossly overworked and fresh out of law school. Their only function is to appease the courts by making sure you are represented by a licensed attorney. Unfortunately there is nothing in the law that says he must be competent or have enough time to properly defend you in an effort to keep you from doing much time. They jokingly nick name these attorneys as Public Pretenders as like I said, they are overworked and under experienced. Generally their function is to plea-bargain your case, and to keep you from asking for a very expensive full blown trial and saving the state tons and tons of money, all the while getting you to plead guilty for a shorter sentence. This form of justice serves many purposes. First and foremost, like I said, the state saves money, the Public Defenders, who are employed by the state get real time/real life experience and the horribly overcrowded justice systems wheels keep on slipping, slipping, slipping- into the future!Anyway, that would be the way!

Can you vote if you have an arrest warrant?

Sure, as long as you are not a convicted felon.
They don't usually have police officers checking voting precincts for criminals (otherwise, how would politicians get elected?).

Do police tell you if you have a warrant?

Not over the phone. They will tell you to come on down to the station where they can talk with you about it. I always wondered if there are some people who are actually stupid enough to do this.A warrant is a court order, issued by a judge, usually in secret, without the subject of the warrant being notified. This is how a warrant is issued: After doing an investigation, if the police believe they have a reason to arrest you or search your property they or the DA will prepare an affidavit and give it to a judge who signs or declines to sign the warrant. The warrant is basically a finding by a judge that the police have probable cause to arrest and or search, and limits the scope of the arrest or search. Once signed, they can arrest you or search your property. They ordinarily don't have to get a warrant to arrest you if they believe you have committed a crime. However, Sometimes the police will request a warrant to arrest someone for various reasons: it gives them the power to enter places they may otherwise be prohibited from entering, like a person's home, it establishes probable cause for the arrest when the law may be vague or unclear, it gives other jurisdictions and police who do not know the facts of the case the power to arrest a person, and it can give the police the power to formally charge someone with a crime (a function normally performed by the DA).Another kind of warrant is called a bench warrant. This is a court order “warranting” the arrest of a person usually because they have missed a court ordered appearance. Bench warrants are public record and not made in secret. The court clerk will tell you if a bench warrant has been issued against you. If it has, ask the clerk to send the file to the judge who issued the warrant. Then go to that department and apologize to the judge for missing your court date. You can tell him it was a calendaring error. Ask him to recall the warrant and issue a new court date. Or, you can ask an attorney to appear for you, if you are not charged with a felony. If you are charged with a felony an attorney will have to appear with you.

How to tell if I have a warrant out for my arrest?

the would have arrested you then so ur in the clear ;) XD

How do you check for active warrants?

The easiest way to check for active warrants is to go onto the police website where you might suspect you have an active warrant and straight out ask them. My wife did this recently because she had an unpaid ticket and she got something in the mail saying that because she hadn't paid her ticket a warrant had been issued for her arrest. She called the police station in Carrolton and asked them how she could deal with it. Money was/is always the best response. She paid the ticket when she went in the other day in it's entirety and the warrant was dropped. Believe me, they just want your money. So call the police station at issue and ask them.
