How Can I Get In Touch With A Caseworker That Is Working On A Open Case On A Relative And I Have

My kids were taken from me. CPS case. please help!?

My name is Sam. I am a very loving and hard working father of two children. The CPS case I have is agaist my wife. A neighbor called in and reported to CPS that there were possible drugs and strangers around the kids. So several caseworker came and talked to my wife and I. They explained what had happened. They asked asked us separetly in different rooms our sides of the story. At the end they took drug tests. I came out clean but my wife had traces of cocaine. For that reason they put us on a safety plan. My mother in law would have to supervise my wife while I am at work. And they gave her numerous classes. The kids could still be with us. The problem is the safety plan was broken 4 times. My mother in law is a very sick lady so she has many doctors appointments to go to. So CPS showed up on 4 different times with my moter in law not there. This case started 6 months ago. My wife never came out dirty on a drug test anymore. She has been going to all her NA classes and counseling and parenting classes. In other words CPS and a judgse saw us as unfit parents just because My mother in law wasnt there a few times. Now the kids are gone and I need help. I just want to know what is going to happen next, and how much longer will the case stay open. If anyone has experieces please share.

My parents are working at fostering my cousin, legally what should we know going forward?

Asked to Answer, thanks. I am unfamiliar with the specifics of Minnesota foster care laws or your cousin’s particular case, but here are a few general observations:Normally when a child goes into foster care the state makes a point of trying to place the child with extended family members first. This is why your cousin is with you now.Depending on state requirements, your parents might have to obtain licensing as foster parents in order to retain custody of your cousin beyond the time period that emergency care normally lasts. Your cousin might even have to go to a licensed foster family until your parents get their own licensing in order, but then as family members you will have a better chance of getting her to move back in once that’s done.Long-term placement of your cousin with your immediate family may be less likely depending on the nature of the case and the extent of involvement or relationship your family has with her parents. If she’s coming out of a household where she has experienced abuse and neglect, and your families get together once a week for Sunday dinner and the like, that somewhat defeats the purpose of removing a child from a negative home environment. The best thing your parents can do now is to engage with the caseworker, state their intentions for long term placement, and follow whatever processes are needed to allow that to happen. The quicker they become involved the less likely it is your cousin will be shuffled off elsewhere within the foster care system.

How do I adopt blood relatives in another state?

You will probably have a fight on your hands. There is a lot of money involved with adoption by strangers. The foster and sometimes the adopting strangers get money, and the social services departments make money from the feds for adoptions by strangers. So they favor stranger adoptions over family members.

Social services departments in some states are getting their hands slapped for violating the rights of children to stay in their natural families. A recent case is in Washington State where grandparents had their granddaughter (who they had helped raise since birth) put into the adoption pool. They nearly lost her but at the last moment the judge found out that social services was lying about the fitness of the single woman who was trying to adopt their granddaughter. Their precious grandchild was put in emergency foster care the night before the hearing because the foster mom had an "emergency" (implications were that the foster mom's ability to care for the girl was questionable). The judge found out and was pissed! The story is here:

http://www.king5.com/topstories/stories/...

Please don't give up the fight - studies have shown that children are far more likely to thrive with family. There are some amazing foster families who open their hearts to children who don't have family to care for them, but there are also many who are in it for the money.

LMOA that an "cw/adoption worker in public agency" is telling you that you need to hire a attorney to assert your rights as blood family. Does that not speak volumes about the corruption of CPS? Want to keep your child in your family? Then be prepared to spend tens of thousands of dollars on an attorney to defend your rights to raise your blood kin. CPS absolutely hates those pesky biological families who stand in the way of getting their federal adoption bonus.

How did working class Americans come to dislike unions?

I was raised in a pro-union family. My father was the president of his electrical union for years. When I grew up and started my career, I also spent time in union leadership. Now that I work in management, my regard for organized labor has diminished quite a bit. I still think they serve a purpose, and I know there are some very good groups out there, but I’ve lost a lot of respect for the movement over the years. One of the things I’ve come to dislike the most about unions is how they protect incompetent workers. I’m reminded of a situation at a local mill in the town where I grew up where a DRUNK forklift driver ran in to a stacked pile of lumber. The resulting collapse destroyed the forklift and severely injured several workers (fortunately nobody was killed). As most would expect, the company immediately terminated the forklift driver. Almost as quickly, his union filed a grievance. They argued that it was the first time he’d crashed a forklift while drunk, and that he’d had a spotless record before then. The case eventually wound up before an arbitrator, who agreed that termination was “too severe” for a first time offense. He was ordered to be rehired with full back pay. Unbelievable. In another case that happened in a nearby community, we had a police officer that beat the hell out of a handcuffed suspect because the guy told him to “fuck off.” Not only was it captured on body cam, but the cop’s own fellow officers turned him in to the chief. He was fired immediately. Again a grievance was filed from the union arguing that it was the first time he’d ever done something like that and that he had a spotless record. An arbitrator agreed and ordered him rehired. Again, unbelievable. These are not the things that unions were created for, and it’s destroying their public image. If things like this had happened when I was a labor leader, I can guarantee you I would not have taken up the cause and I would have let the offender twist in the wind. I’m not going to have the actions of some idiot ruin the reputation of my entire labor group. Yes, I might open my union to a lawsuit from the terminated employee (for failure to provide representation), but I’ll take that chance. As George Bush so famously said, “Bring it on.” Doing anything less would contribute to the declining influence and importance of organized labor in the United States.

Ok sooooo the mother asked us to adopt. They cannot see their kids until the kids are 18...?

Hi KA,

We got an emergency relative placement for my niece and nephew after their father lost custody of them. We are now moving through the maze hopefully towards permanent custody.

Though the father wants us to have the kids, we have found that it is best to work almost exclusively through the social worker who is handling the case. They want kids to be with family if at all possible, and they have worked very hard to get the kids placed with us quickly.

In our case, the father will have trial dates, rehab, visitation issues. We have found it is best to let him negotiate through his maze while we make our way through ours.

Our niece and nephew do not want to see their father right now. When and if he gains visitation we will support that. However, for this reason we have found that it is much clearer, and less emotionally charged to communicate through the social worker on the case. We have never been able to get any accurate info from the father. If you are communicating with the parents it should be easy to find out who they are working with and open up lines of communication with that person. This doesn't mean you cut the parents off. You should communicate with them. It just means that legal, and custodial issues should all be throught the social worker on the case.

It is a crazy process. We feel like we are in a whirlwind right now. But the most important thing is that the children are safe, and supported through this difficult ordeal. It is really hard on them. You are doing a wonderful thing. Best of luck to you.

What can i do about my mom abandoning me? i live in texas.?

1-800-252-5400

That is the number for the Texas DFPS Child Protective Services hotline. Call and talk to someone there about putting you in touch with a caseworker who can help you.

Your friend's mom needs to immediately help you get this legal legwork done, as well, because if you are injured or sick, she cannot sign for your care and doctors and hospitals will not treat non-life-threatening illness or injury without a parent's signature.

You also need to go to your local health and human services commission about applying for aid. https://www.yourtexasbenefits.com/wps/th... this is a website for locating a local office.

You may also try to get in touch with your county's district attorney about emancipation procedures and a court order forcing your mother to provide for you financially until you are able to become emancipated.

What does it feel like to be a close relative of a celebrity or a very powerful person?

I want to start by saying this is not a blood relative by DNA but because his blood sister (only sister) is my daughters lovely godmother I certainly claim him as a relative (as does he, us)To make a long story short I was about 6 months pregnant with my daughter, my only child and I was working a job at an emergency medical answering service and here walks by this lady that could easily pass as a twin to the actress Raven Symone I.E. The Cosby Show, That's So Raven, and most recently the view ( her looks have nothing to do with the story I just wanted to give you a visual because I think I'm a pretty good writer )Anyhow she ( we call her DD) got the job and I was the person that trained her, so we got to know each other very well because it is weeks of training. We started chatting about music and I told her my fiance had a music studio at our home. She was a professionally trained Opera/ Classical singer. In a short time we became the best of friends, her fiance became my fiance's best friend.By now our baby was born and her and her boyfriend became our daughters Godparents (naturally) , she had mentioned that her brother just moved from Indiana to L.A. to follow his dream of singing and Songwriting as everyone in her family are ANGELIC singers, dancers, and musicians.I specifically remember a phone call she received while at my house, the caller was her brother and he was in the studio and needed her to wire him $20. Fast forward ahead a half a year or so one of the Songs he wrote is a top hit called Billionaire (performed by B.O.B) he was actually working on this song when he called her to wire him enough money just to grab a bite to eat!I have kept you in suspense long enough, he is now the writer and best friend and leading band mate, dancer and back up Singer of the WORLD FAMOUS BRUNO MARS! His name is Philip Lawrence ( yes you can Google him) from this Great State of Indiana, City Evansville! I am so proud of him and his hard work, dedication, not only as Bruno's right hand man, but as a brother, father, Son, Uncle, husband, and friend! What a man he is. When he performs it's like it's just him, Bruno, the lights and the fans! IT'S ELECTRIC!!!!I hope no one gets upset that I shared this story, but I'm so doggone proud of him it gives me chills. So yes, that's my celebrity/ family story, I hope you enjoyed it!

Horse Help?

Getting your horse a "stable blanket", in other words, one that is not waterproofed will not keep him dry. If your fences are safe, the horse's blanket should not get caught in it. A good turnout blanket that is waterproof, windproof, and breathable is your best bet. They are designed to stay on the horse when they roll and most are guaranteed for 3 to 5 years in case they rip or a buckle breaks (they WILL send you a new one and a return shipping label for the old one...I know, I had to have one replaced). The other thing you can do is make sure that your horse has access to all of the good quality hay he can eat during the day and at night. This will help him have the energy to keep warm. Also, if you do not have one, get a tank heater for their water. It does not make the water that warm or even hot, but it will keep the ice off and will increase his core body temp. during the day. . It will also help prevent kidney problems from not drinking because the water is too cold. If you really want to get him doing better, do all of these things! :-) You can get heavy weight turnouts on ebay for around $20...or from one of the discount places for $45 to $65. Make sure you measure your horse correctly (center of chest, around the horse to center of tail). This will make sure the blanket fits properly to avoid snow getting under the blanket and melting...and also to avoid shifting of the blanket.

What can I do to develop my village (details below)?

First, I would like to echo what other fellow Quorans here have said -  hats off to you for taking the initiative. Coming to your question - there are many things you can do. I will give specifics here, which I think are true for most villages in the country - 1. Every village in India has something called an Aanganwaadi center (AWC). In sparsely populated areas, one AWC usually cater to 1000 households. Depending on which part of the country you are, the situation of these AWCs can vary between disfunctional, to don't open to open only to provide meals to active with a good worker. The AWC in your village should belong to the last category :-) - which are few! So, the first thing you could do is find out. 2. Once you visit the AWC, you may notice that it needs a few things - a toilet on the premises being a must (again, very rare). Is that something that you can mobilise? (The govt has money, but if getting into that is a pain, you could get it constructed).3. Remember, AWCs are usually very small and don't have enough space for toilets. In which case can you organize a better space for them? 4. Does it have a clean cooking area? Does it have running water? Do the children have enough materials to play with (again, the government provides for every thing, but it doest always reach). This is just an indicative list of things to consider. It's critical for every child under age of 6, to attend pre-school and receive the services offered by the AWC (this refers to families who cannot afford regular private pre-schools and health facilities). This actually sets the basis of life long learning and growth - for mother and child. Do drop in a message if you would like to know more. Good luck.
