How Can I Get My Almost 4 Month Old To Take A Bottle

How to get my 4 month old take a bottle?

To get my breastfed 4 month old onto a bottle I had to physically leave our house. After that my husband had to put on my bathrobe and calmly offer it to her persistently when she wasn't STARVING. It took quite a bit of work, but now I can give her a bottle too. If she's being particularly difficult, I will have a bottle ready next to my nipple and kind of "slip" it in on her.

Also I have found that holding her in a way COMPLETELY different from breastfeeding really helped in the beginning. That way she could associate breastmilk with my breast as well as with a bottle.

Good Luck.

How do I get my almost 7 month old to drink from a bottle?

At 7 months skip the bottle and use a sippy cup. Most breastfeed babies do better with an introduction to a sippy cup then to a bottle. Do a slow weaning process. Skip one breastfeeding session every 3-4 days. During the feeding that you skip offer the sippy cup in place of that feeding. A slow wean will give you both time to adjust.

And i just want to put in that you may want to double check with a lactation consultant that you actually have to stop breastfeeding. Many times women are told that they need to stop breastfeeding because of x, y or z but upon further research they didn't really need to.

Any advice on how to get an almost 7 month old baby to take a bottle?

So if you've been breastfeeding only I'm sorry to say he won't take formula of any kind .... Have you tasted formula it's nasty ! I had the same problem with my daughter I couldn't go anywere wit out her because she wouldn't take the bottle ... I got pregnant when she was 7 months n kept breastfeeding till she was 9 months ... My milk wasn't filling her up so I gave her regular milk in s bottle doctors say it bad but my mom gave me milk when I was six months ! I'm healthy! So far my daughter is too... If u have enough breast milk pump n give it to him or her in a playtex bottle the one wit the drop in bags n brown nipple.... U need help from somebody else like mother or mother in law aunt somebody.... They need to sleep in a seprate room n feed the baby for two days straight mostly at night the baby is going to cry m cry n cry but u have to be strong! Don't give in wit the boob ... After two days the baby should take it fine .. It's easier now to get him used to bottle then later ... I just had my son a month ago n my daughter is 17 months... Ever since I took my boob away from her she is so independent! She does her own thing while I take care of the newborn... When it's time to sleep I lay her down give her a blanket n her bottle n she's happy ! I hope this helps!

How do i get my breast fed baby(almost 6 months old) to take a bottle he has two teeth and keeps biting me?

I actually have a similar problem. i visit college, and that i desire my 5-month-previous daughter to take a bottle at the same time as i'm long gone. attempt categories of bottles. some are extra resembling breasfeeding. My son enjoyed Avent bottles (he substitute into breast-fed) and my daughter seems to desire the Playtex VentAire extensive bottle. wait and see. maximum toddlers will take a bottle in the event that they are hungry sufficient and the mummy isn't around. attempt as quickly as an afternoon. in the journey that your toddler screams, supply up and breastfeed him/her and attempt returned the subsequent day. in the journey that your toddler is sufficiently previous, and refuses to take a bottle, you could supply him/her a sippy-cup or have the sitter attempt to feed him/her solids once you're long gone.

How can I get my almost 2yr old girl completely off the bottle?

Speak to her pediatrician if some of these things don't help. Some suggestions may be to get her sippy cups and or let her drink with a regular glass and get some fun wiggly straws to drink through. Take her to the store with you to buy her own special cup and straws. Kids need to suck for comfort. Even at 22 months old. I had a pacifier (I know, gross sometimes, but I was an immature, premature kid) that was taken from me a bit too early. I needed the comfort. Find another source of busy time for her when she usually gets the bottle. Give her a blanket with satin on the edges if she does not have that. Try again when she is another 2 weeks older, even a month can make a difference when it comes to little ones. If she ever throws the bottle, let her know, it is the last one she has and you cannot get anymore, and don't replace it! Let her cry a bit when you wean her off. Not too long, but she will get over it. Trust me, she won't be walking down the church isle to get married with a bottle in her mouth, they grow too fast, let her be and let her go at her own pace, she will in time forget about it. Let her have some control. Show her the cabinet where the bottles are kept and let her see that they are gone when you do take them away. Let her trust you with it and do not tell her fibs about the bottle. They are ever so smart. Reinforce with positive statements about what a big girl she is without the bottle. Try never to be upset or mad when she still cries for it. Love and comfort for this! hpe it helps.

My 4 month old daughter wont take a bottle?

It's not clear to me why you need her to take a bottle now.

If you're just leaving for a few hours here and there, someone could feed her milk from a regular cup (with help, of course). When my oldest was almost 4 months old, I went back to work part-time (just two days a week for 4 hours each day). During that time, my husband was home with her. Even though she had taken the occasional bottle fine up to that point, she started refusing it while I was at work. My husband did have success putting breastmilk in a small plastic cup and tipping it up to her lips for her to sip. He also straw-fed some of it (just dip a straw in the milk, hold your finger over the end, lift it out of the milk and into baby's mouth, and take off your finger, and the milk will run into baby's mouth).

I've also heard of people freezing breastmilk in ice cube tray and then feeding it by spoon as a "slushie" while mom is gone.

Or if you wait a month or two, you could just have the other person feed solids when you're away for those short periods.

If you're hoping to wean completely, you'll just have to be patient with her. Keep in mind that breastfeeding isn't just about food to her -- it's about safety and warmth and comfort. And you'll probably have the best luck with her taking a bottle when she's half-asleep. That was the only time my husband could get any of my kids to take a bottle if they were refusing.

My 3 almost 4 month old is fussing every time I give her a bottle.?

She use to take her bottle perfectly, but about a month 1/2 ago she's started really sucking her thumb, all the time. When, I try to give her a bottle she gets mad, and reaches for her thumb. Sometimes she gets so upset she wont even drink, or suck her thumb. But, mostly she just wants her thumb. Any other mothers exsperienced this? What do you do? I'm getting worried she will go 10 hr.'s without eating during the day. She needs fluid, but she wont take it. This has been going on a month now. Is it just a phase or should I do something about it. I'm just worrying she's not get enough nutrients. She's a healthy baby, she weighs 10lbs, 5ounces. So, her weight is not affected by this. But, I'm just afraid waiting that long in between eatings is going to get her sick.
