How Can I Get My Computer Back Without Paying The Diagnose Fee

Can I sue a computer repair shop?

I bought I refurbished computer and after a couple weeks it started to run really slow. So I took it to a local computer repair shop and they said the could diagnose the problem and fix it and everything would be covered by their 90 day warranty. They got my computer back to me later that day and it seemed like it was working fine. than just a couple days later it started being slow again. when I took it back to them and said I'd like them to re diagnose it and I should still be under the warranty they said okay and had me sign the same generic agreement as before but It had no cost on it when I signed. then they called me an hour later and said they discovered a new problem and they were going to have to charge me again for repair. they said they fixed it and everything should be fine. after getting it back, my computer wont even turn on completely. it gets to the loading screen the bar fills up and then freezes. I just got I back yesterday and haven't been able to log on since. I'm going to take it back to them and have them re-diagnose an fix it again and for free because it should be covered on their 90 day warrant seeing as how I already paid for this service. They improperly diagnosed it and fixed nothing, actually made it run worse. If they try to say its not covered by there warranty again and try to charge me a third time what are the legal actions I can take.also what about the agreement I signed that had no price on it at the time but they wrote on in later

How much will it cost to diagnose and fix a laptop computer, on average?

It would all depend on a few things I can think of:

1) How much your shop of choice charges for labor. Those that I've dealt with charge between $50-$150 an hour for labor.

2) What's actually wrong with your laptop. The shop will charge you labor to find the problem, replacement parts (if any) and additional labor to install any needed parts.

Without knowing the specific cause of your problem, I can best say you should expect to pay $100 at an absolute minimum for repairs.

I have to agree with some of the others here. Unless your computer is particularly new (I/E still somewhat valuable) repairs may cost almost as much if not more than the computer is worth.

Should dealer be charging me for a diagnostic fee on my car?

I took my KIA Optima for service because it has an intermittent electrical problem that causes the air conditioner, radio, and cruise control to turn off for 1 second. This also causes my engine to stall or lose power momentarily. Also causing my car to jerk when the engine restarts. The dealer inspected the car and took it for a short drive on the freeway. They could not recreate the problem. My car still has the manufacture's warranty. The service technician tells me since they couldn't find a warranty related problem I should pay for the diagnostic fee. What should I do? Any ideas?

Is it worth paying the repair costs for my macbook pro?

I sent my macbook back to get a cracked trackpad fixed. My laptop is still under warranty as it's only a few months old and so the repair was free. I then got a call saying they had found water damage and I had to pay £270 to fix the component. I then got another call saying they have found more water damage and it will now be over £700 to fix. When I said there was no way I could afford that they said they could offer me two options. I either pay £358 for the original water damage repair (which was originally quoted at £270) and have the trackpad replaced, or they send it back as it was when I sent it in, trackpad still cracked. I asked if I could simply have the trackpad fixed and take my chances on the original water damage, or if he could send me a photograph of the damage found before I pay out for the repair. I am currently waiting on a phonecall as he had to go and ask whether this would be a possibility. I don't know why I can't have the trackpad fixed since that was a fault on the machine and under warranty, without paying for the water damage. Ps, the water damage came from a spilled cup of tea that happened the day before. My laptop has covers across the entire machine and keyboard. If any liquid spilled inside, it would have been minimal amounts that had got in through the back vent. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated, I simply want to make sure they're not taking me for a ride since they know I'm an art student with no clue about computers. Thanks!

Can garage charge diagnostic fee for car under warranty?

Car broke down last week, the AA came and did some tests and discovered that while the battery was fine, the alternator was not providing enough current or whatever to charge the battery. I took the car back to the garage (main dealer, but second hand and under warranty - 06 plate) and they stated that they would charge a diagnostic fee - even though it's under warranty. Now, since the AA have told them what's wrong with it (I gave them the AA report with the figures recorded by their test equipment), are the garage justified in charging me for this diagnostic fee?

If they are NOT justified, can you point me to a specific piece of legislation to wave at them? (UK/English law)

Thanks.

How much does a diagnosis cost at microcenter?

it should be covered by your warranty

How does my laptop show 'no battery inserted' for 5 months and then suddenly start charging?

You might have a short in the power connection in the back of your computer, or if you have removed and put the battery back in or dropped the laptop it could have made contact with the battery. The battery has spring like connectors and if they get Jared or bumped too hard it is possible that they just did not make a good connection. Try to juggle the in line to the laptop and see if it feels loose at all it may even be there that the connection is faulty. Those are the three reasons that could cause your issue.

How difficult is it for an auto mechanic to diagnose a car problem without the use of a diagnostic computer?

Your question is relatively vague. “A car problem” is vague as well as what generation of a vehicle are you asking about?Modern vehicles, you NEED a computer/scan tool. That’s just the way it is.No, it doesn’t tell you what is wrong with the vehicle.Increasingly, a scan tool is required on systems one normally would not associate with needing a scan tool. Take brakes, for instance. Not the ABS, per se, but the actual brakes. Say you wish to replace brake linings/pads. It is becoming increasingly common to need to put the system into a service mode. Most of the time a scan tool is required, or a special tool designed to put that system into service mode. After a repair it is often required to program, code or initialize the control module(s). Sensor replacements, actuator replacements, etc, etc. There are many reasons for this, but it boils down to requiring a scan tool.Technicians benefit from using “computers” on older vehicles. PC-based oscilloscopes, exhaust gas analyzers, meters, etc, etc, all come in very handy in quickly arriving at an accurate diagnosis.
